I'm going to try to update to vb3 tomorrow. I am estimating a downtime of a few hours if everything goes smoothly. We'll have a more secure and less buggy forum with lots of new features. However of course the general feel and look will remain the same.

I'll also update the trader feedback and load a betting hack. For the shop it seems there isn't a true upgrade however the vb3 shop/cash system seems to be able to use vb2 cash, so that will hopefully be preserved.

As far as the portal goes I think I'll leave that go, I don't think it's useful. let me know how you feel about that.

When you go to www.sportscardforum.com and it takes you to that mainpage, that's a portal. From the portal you then pick which resource you want (in our case we only have a forum so I think that's why Greg was saying it's useless). It's a starting point to our site but I think he just plans on going right to the forum.

We didn't have that for the longest, did we? Seems when I started here the forum page was the first thing that came up....I can't really remember though.

Here was Bryan's main reason for it. Not sure if you'll understand it but I dug up the post for you so be thankful :D

The huge advantage is the traffic. Because I have what is called and ensim control panel on my server I can't have anything named "admin" in my main "root" folder. Because of this I had to put everying in the folder "forum" (ei www.sportscardforum.com/forum/) to make that page automatically show up when you visited the site I had to create a .htaccess redirect which I understood google was cool with. They are not. They are not cool with any redirects.

Because of this we don't have a google page rank. (this is very important for high search engine rankings and can be found on the google tool bar) and are missing a TON of searh engine traffic. Now the home page is there google should recognize the site more for the search engines which could really really have an effect on new forum trafficl.

Yeah I understand why Bryan made the portal, but with thisd server and website network it's not needed. Starting upgrade in t-minus three hours.

Yeah, the reason why I originally put the home page on is no longer needed.

We will need to address custom pages however such as the npn page and glossary page.
