Yes, card cash auctions are returning to SCF!!!

Due to many requests, it has been decided that this avenue of trading/selling cards will be explored again. This is how it will work:

1. All auctions go in the general cards for card cash forum. Do not post your auctions in the individual sports forums. We are looking into adding a card cash auction forum, but until then, use the general area.

2. Only one auction at a time by a member. This is very important. If anyone is caught posting more than one at a time, it will be erased and that member will lose the opportunity to conduct auctions for an indeterminate amount of time.

3. Auctions cannot go longer than 7 days. Sellers can set up the auction to go for any time length up to seven days of when it is posted. If you posted an auction at 3pm on a Monday, then you cannot have it end at 8pm on the following Monday. Note the time you create your auction.

4. Seller decides on shipping. It's up to the seller to create a shipping amount. This is non-negotiable. Added Comment: The use of bubble mailers and d.c. is completely optional. Sellers may add this to their shipping costs if they choose. Buyers may contact sellers and come to an arrangement if that's what they would prefer.

5. Final bid is the time stamp that occurs one minute before end time. In other words, if a seller says the auction ends at 10pm...then the last bid with a time stamp of 9:59pm wins...

6. Winning bidder has 72 hours to pay for the auction. If the winning bidder has not done so, then the card cash will be taken from the account and transferred by Greg and the member will not be able to participate in auctions for an indeterminate amount of time.

7. Seller has 72 hours to send item(s) once payment has been received. If the winning bidder does not comply, then a fee will be charged to the seller and the member will not be able to participate in auctions for an indeterminate amount of time.

8. The following auctions are not permitted...Dutch (these are potluck auctions where numerous bidders bid the same price and get an unknown item or items sent to them) and undisclosed team bags (you must list every card in the team bag in order to sell it)

9. Absolutely no editing of your auctions. If you need something changed, you must contact Jay or myself to do it for you. Anyone caught editing will have their auction removed and the member will not be able to participate in auctions for an indeterminate amount of time.

10. All reserve amounts must be sent to enigma_shadow via PM before posting your auction. This number cannot change once the auction goes live.

11. The seller may bump his/her auction once per day.

12. Under no circumstance may an auction end early for any reason other than someone using BIN. Once posted, it must run the entire time.

How to post your auction:

All auctions must be posted in this format or they will be deleted. Continuously posting incorrectly will lead to loss of auction privileges...

Thread Title -
Auction: Exact item

Message -
Item: Exact item again
Description: Anything you want to mention. Condition of the item is a must...
Starting bid: Set by seller
Increments: Set by seller. This is the minimum amount the next bid must outbid the previous bid.
Auction ends: Set by seller
Shipping cost: Set by seller
Reserve: Either yes or no (If yes, you do not list the reserve amount)
Buy It Now: If you decide to have one, then you list the amount.

Example:

Thread Title -
Auction: 2004 Topps Gold Philip Rivers (187/499)

Message -
Item: 2004 Topps Gold Philip Rivers (187/499)
Description: You are bidding on (insert words here). The card is in mint to near mint condition. (Add whatever else you wish).
Starting bid: 50cc
Increments: 5cc
Auction ends: 2/10 @ 9pm EST
Shipping: 15cc
Reserve: No
Buy It Now: 250cc

Auctions fees (due at end of auction):

Auction listing = 25cc
Sticky the auction = 50cc
Reserve = 10cc
Buy It Now = 10cc
Late (over 72 hours) Payment Fee: 100cc
Late (over 72 hours) Sending Fee: 100cc

Added Note: Any non-reserve auction that does not receive any bids, may be relisted at no charge. If it does not receive a bid a second time, then you will be subject to the listing fee.

These are payable to me. Once I have confirmed payment, then you may list a new auction.

The moderators for the auctions are myself and Jay (pr0phet). Do not contact any other mods/advisors as they will simply either send you to one of us or forward your messages to us.

As you can see, we are making great strides to avoid running into problems that we had before. The rules are subject to change, deletion or addition. If anything changes, it will be posted as an update as well as edited to maintain a current list of regulations.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Auctions cannot begin until Monday February 7 at noon EST!!!

Two things worth adding to this that I will be discussing with Tony

1) All shipments MUST be bubble mailer and first class((ins or DC can be agreed upon by seller or buyer)) This will give you the chance for a CASH RECEIPT which shows when the card was sent.

2)Bumping of auctions of any amount... Please only keep it to one bump PER AUCTION...

Again these will rest on Tony/Gregs hands but I am proposing the ideas as we speak.

I like that the auctions are back to the forums, because hobbybuddy was slower than a dead turd, but i dont like the fact that you have to pay a listing fee. If I didnt have any CC, how can auctions benefit me? Thanks!

Kirk,((sorry for the russ name, got cought up in a PM))

what you need to incorporate into your want is how much CC you want plus all listing fees. I will add that third question about fees being paid if the lot is not selled.

Tony, There's one thing that I see that I think caused a problem last time....setting a reserve. I think this was not allowed because of the possibilty of the seller just saying that he/she didn't get what they wanted to sell for so they say the reserve wasn't met. This won't be like ebay where they have to enter the reserve amount & it's automatically tracked if it's met or not. This could be avoided by making all reserve auction be reported to you or Jay but then that would eliminate you guys from bidding on the item & there's always a chance it could be something you'd want to bid on.

There's one other question I have. Is the bidding to be done in increments or can the bidders just bid what they want like before ?

To address items that have been mentioned:

Shipping with bubble mailer and dc:
This is optional. If the seller wishes to do this, then he/she can add that to the shipping cost. If the buyer wishes for this, then he/she can contact the seller about this.

Bumping:
Though forum rules state one bump per thread, we allowed one bump per day of an auction. Until the auctions really get going, there shouldn't be a need to bump an auction.

Auctions Not Selling:
I'll add this to the above rules. Any auction that does not sell (without a reserve) can be relisted without any listing fees being charged. If it does not sell a second time, then the fee will be charged. If you have a reserve auction, then a listing fee will be charged regardless of the auction is sold or not.

Reserves:
Very good point. If you conduct an auction with a reserve, it will need to be sent to me before posting the auction. I do not deal with card cash anymore, so I will not be looking to buy or sell anything dealing with card cash.

Increments:
It's amazing the little things you can overlook. The seller determines the betting increments with a minimum of 5cc.

I'll update everything above shortly...

i have two problems with it so far.. well.. one problem one possible idea

problem... waiting for greg to OK another auction... i, for one anyways, would like to run one after another and in PM's to greg i have sometimes had to wait 3-4-5 days for a response... will this be taken care of and is there any way we could set another system up that would allow instant varification to run another auction IE... send CC any of the mods involved in CC that way it gives us 3 shots at one of them being online instead of greg exclusively

second... is there any way you could set up a monthly fee... like... 125/month or whatever to list as many CC auctions as you would like.. this too would save on downtiem waiting to be aprooved to run another

just thinkin

First point - You can transfer the cc to Jay or myself...make sure you PM the person so that we can verify a transfer has been made...

Second point - Perhaps that's something that could happen in the future...

I have a question about the Buy it now option, on ebay you have the oppurtunity to use BIN up until a bid is made, How are we doing BIN on SCF because on this auction
http://www.sportscardforum.com/showthread.php?t=112349 the BIN was utilized after 2 bids had been made.
Thanks,
Ryan

on yahoo it is used like it has been on here so far.. i personally like it because i wouldnt want to pay 10 cc and then have someone come through and post the minimum bid on everything just so you cant use the BIN... IMO

i think it has to be like it is
but thats just my opinion

I think that it's fine the way it is. I actually wish you could use the buy it now after someone bids on ebay. If the seller is willing to take a certain price for the item they are selling, it shouldn't matter if that amount is the first bid or the 20th.

For future reference I would suggest just stating it in the auction along these lines

After first bid is placed BIN is no longer an option

or

BIN stands up until bid is half the BIN price

just two examples.

or the BIN is open till a bid overlaps it(which shouldnt happen)
if the buyer is smart

nebbie2004

I think the BIN option stays available until the amount of the BIN is reached, like what is currently happening

cardsfan200306
02-16-2005, 01:07 AM
so u basically agree with me i mean noone will bid 250 when BIN is 250 cuz then they could lose item
instead of own it when using BIN

Either way is ok I guess as long as you know beforehand how its going to be. Had I known I would have used the BIN to get that Spikes, I almost did that to begin with but I wanted everyone to be able to get in on the auction action.
Being the second Auction since this started back and seeing as how the first went BIN I wanted to see how much action we could get going on in that forum.
No worries, didnt mean to sound like I was complaining I just wanted to verify what the rule was.

Thanks everyone!

My oversight...not excusable...

Anyhow, from this point forward...the BIN option is not longer available after the third bid...
