View Full Version : I bought me a few packs today...
IggyWH 03-18-2003, 06:28 PM One pack was 2002 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects. Didn't really get much but a bunch of guys I've never heard of and a Casey Kotchman Gold, worth $6, WOOHOO!
The other pack I bought was 2003 Topps Chrome. Got a Black Refracter of Juan Gonzalez worth $12 #175/199 (now why don't I ever pull like Arod's or Bonds?) and a Brendan Harris rookie worth like $3.
All in all I guess not too bad for $6 that I spent. Maybe I'll have to start buying packs more often.
thekingpin 03-19-2003, 12:56 AM decent pulls... why only 2 packs?
IggyWH 03-19-2003, 01:25 AM Those 2 packs = $6.40... that's a pitcher of Yuengling & tip at Cumpies!
BGray 03-19-2003, 06:09 AM I had that very same delimna in college Iggy! ;)
I have stopped buying as many packs though just as I don't feel like I get as much value as buying individual cards. If I do buy packs its normally a SP product or bowman chrome baseball.

Bought them at a store called Target. I think they're national but if you don't know what Target is, it's like a better K-Mart or a not quite up to Wal-Mart standards.
podstock 03-19-2003, 05:15 PM Try to go to auctions -- in person, not the online ones.
These provide awesome deals; but you end up having to buy in huge lots.
Ebay's not too bad either.
Been a LOOOOOOOONG time since I've bought cards at a sports cards store.
Went to K-mart (in S. CA, they're closing down a few stores) to see if I could get some good bargains. But someone grabbed them all
Ipster 03-19-2003, 06:46 PM Target Stores are only in the MidWest. I have a few here in MI

You sure you're not part of the NCAA Selection Committee? They seem to think Pittsburgh's in the Mid-West too.

What part of Jersey do you live in?
thekingpin 03-20-2003, 12:01 AM Target is everywhere... including Amazon.com! Sheesh...
Anyways... I usually buy boxes of cards... usually on ebay. Occasionally, I'll walk over to the local store and drop $50 on random packs. It gives me a chance to test the waters a bit... If I find something I like, I buy the box. Usually I'll get some really good pulls... at least one or two game used each round of pack purchases.

cheesiehead 03-21-2003, 09:16 AM some nice pulls, but don't count on counting stuff like that everytime. I've bought many packs and some days i get jerseys and autos next day i get just commons.

Damn Iggy I haven't heard of Yuengling beer in about 7 yrs... When I was in the Marines I road tripped with a buddy of mine from Seattle, Washington to Pennsylvania when he got out. And he introduced me to my first bottle of Yuengling and if I remember right it is only sold in Pennsylvania, we went and visited the brewery but the rest of the trip was a little hazy LOL!!!
IggyWH 03-21-2003, 12:41 PM They have since branched out some buying a few old brewery's around. You can find it in most eastern states now. So how'd you like it?
Qball76 03-21-2003, 01:37 PM Oh I liked it alot, I liked it alot for the four nights five days that I stayed up there before I flew back to Seattle, It definitely is a good beer, I liked the really thick dark one the most can't remember its name though...

Black & Tan it's called. Pretty good stuff but I just drink the Traditional Lager.
