Spring Training is among us!

Who do you think is going to be this years breakout baseball rookie?

:D

It's always fun to guess, but it hardly ever turns out to be someone you really expected. People always come out of the woodwork to surprise you.

Rookies are hard to find in Baseball especially when their rookie cards are 3 years prior to hitting the bigs. Being a Twins fan, they have a guy named Mike Cuddyer. He was called up late last year, and I think he's still eligible for ROY. He's a stud with a good bat. His rookie year is 1998. Bowman and Bowman Chrome.

If you ask me, I'd say "Godzilla" though I'm no Yankees fan.

Joe Crede still qualifies I believe...That kid is going to be something else....REAL NICE GUY TOO

Welcome GOREDSX!

If Joe Crede still qualifies as a rookie he is definitely a candidate. He started ripping the cover off that ball at the end of last season.

It's hard for me to determine who the rookies are because they were a rookie to me 3 or 4 years ago when their first cards came out. :D

I think to qualify they had to have played under either 15 or 25 games(idunno which) in one regular big league season.

Joe Thurston, Dodger's 2B now that Grud shipped out to the Cubs. He's good, but I think a lot of ppl knows about it too, his RC goes for about $15-$25 on ebay now.

I think Contreras and Matsui will have the best shot of being a break out rookie.

I think Matsui can be a break out rookie but I hope not as a Yankee Hater

Crede does not have rookie status for this year and either does Josh Phelps but Phelps is the guy who is going to break out and be a household name by the end of the year.

Kind of funny how Matsui hits a couple of Spring Training Taters off of a couple of minor league pitchers and everyone is jumping on the Bandwagon. Let's see how he does when the games count. Remember, Tuffy Rhoades hit 50 taters in Japan.

keep your eye on ricky asadorian...he got drafted first round out of high school by the red sox and was then traded. i saw him play and he had one of the best arms ive ever seen. hes a second year player already but watch out hes gonna be good

I noticed his cards were priced at a premium right out of the gate. I'm looking forward to seeing Rick play.

Texieria... but hopefully Contreras will learn the ropes quickly, I thought I read that he gave up a grand slam to Adam Dunn in his first ST game.

I'm cautious to choose Matsui because of all the New York hype. It's NY & Japanese Media vs. Godzilla.

If Dusty lets him play, he could be the favorite for NL rookie of the year.

keep an eye out for a break out year from Ty Wiggington on the Mets... but Texiera should take the spotlight for rookies this year

I am not sure but this might have been the first thread started @ SCF and look at some of the prediction, I think plunge and kingpin came the closest, now I wonder which rookie will have a stellar 2nd half...

dontrelle pitched great last night, so did prior, but the cubs blew it for prior, 16 strikeouts!
