Alright baseball guru's, who's gonna take the series this year?

We need to know now so we can get in on those crazy spring training props with the bookies.

So who's gonna take it and WHY? :D

The Yankees will probably win. Unfortunately. The reason they will win is that they have great pitching and they always spend a lot more $$$$$$$. I think baseball should have have salary caps!

I'll say the Yankees, because they're the most easy to point the finger at. I'm letting you all know right now though, don't pe surprised if the Pirates are competing for the NL-Central crown. They had a great team last year, but just lacked depth and hitting. They've sured up a few spots and added depth to an already great pitching rotation and bullpen. For once I'm actually looking forward to a Pirates season!

They do have like 7 #1 to #3 quality starters. As a Bo Sox fan this offseason was brutal. Everyone the Sox eye the Yankees get. I don't like to be a real *****er about this so I'll stop.

I think this season will have some tight races. Should be fun!

Believe it or not, if Brown and Dreifort is healthy, the Dodgers got a pretty good chance, but Yankees probably win it all this year.

I think the Phillies have a good chance.

But the Yankees have a good team again this year.

I really hope the Mets turn it around this year though.

Its gonna be a dogfight between the Cubs and Cards. The winner will go to the series and win it all... Probably against the Yanks or the BoSox....
Hey, at least I can dream!!

I'm hoping for the Mets but I have a feeling Texas will be more of a threat in the AL West. They've been overshadowed for so long but w/ Showalter in the driver's seat I think they'll could be the dark horse of the season.

Thanks BGray! Sorry about the Sox, but hey, I wish you guys would have gotten Contreras, he hasn't looked so hot.

It's amazing when didn't pay a money for a flop. That would be right in line with the usual situation. Of course, Contreras will probably come around and be a 20 game winner.

Almost got sick when BOS "claimed a victory" (projo.com) over signing Ramiro Mendoza...NY dumps the guy and its a "victory" that BOS picks him up?

Being a typical Sox fan I expect the following...
Lowe was a one year thing...
Pedro's arm...
Manny's attitude....
Nomar to say F-it and be off to the west coast...
Shea to finish up with 6 walks...

All the while looking at Bagwell, Clemens, Eckstein et al. thinking "why can't WE get guys like that"....

That would be my dream come true.

Yes, the Yankees do have about 6 top quality starting pitchers. Don't remind me. :(

I think the Braves may go farther with their shuffle of pitchers.

I'm an Orioles fan and I think we have a shot if we pick up 1 or 2 more pitchers. But I see the Cubbies winning it all this year. They are getting Maddux to go along with Wood and Prior And Clemente?Done deal.

For the upcoming 2004 season, the Cubs do show some promise with their players and manager. But I think this year will be like every other year for the Cubs, meaning no championship this year. I sympathize with Cubs fans lack of their team's success but they do have reason to be optimistic this year.
(Note that most of the posts on this thread refer to the 2003 season.)

I'm going to go out on a limb, and say the Marlins will win the series in 2003....;-)

Even thought the Braves lost a lot, They still have one of the best lineups in the NL. I think the big sleeper pickup was John Thomson. Many scouts are saying that he is the next coming of Jason Schimdt. Always has had great stuff and is lurking to breakout. I think Bobby Cox will use the team's speed this year which is key to winning(Florida Marlins) and I also think that Andruw Jones is going to have a MONSTER MVP year.

i have to go with the cubbies... great pitching + great coach + a little needed help in the lineup as far as batting = results.... they should have been in last year but o well

As much as I would like to say my Tigers will make some noise I will try not to look foolish but I do think the Angels might kick up their heels a little. Adding 2 starting pitchers and 2 very solid outfielders to an already decent team might make them interesting. I look for Guerrero to have a huge year now that he is out of Montreal.

The Astros. Not a big fan, but Miller, Oswalt, Pettite & Clemens could all be aces on most teams staffs. Add to that a healthy bags, Berkman & others & they look scarry
