Senator Roberto Arango has resigned following reports that explicit photos of him surfaced on an iPhone application for gays and bisexuals, the head of Puerto Rico's Senate announced Sunday.

Arango, a Republican who represents the capital of San Juan, presented his letter of resignation after a weekend meeting, Senate President Thomas Rivera Schatz said.
