This time of the year, the drag racing fans head to Indianapolis for the US Nationals for the NHRA's biggest event of the year. One of the big events is the John Force Racing's Open House held Thursday before Labor Day. It is the third year that the event has been held and like the other two years, I went to the event.
I got to the shop at 2pm so that I could get a good parking spot (I did.) I was able to get in the store to get a limited edition John Force 15x hat (911 of 1515 made) and a John Force shirt. After that I waited for the signing of the four JFR drivers (John Force, Robert Hight, Mike Neff, Courtney Force) and Bob Tasca III.
They were supposed to start at 4:30, but they did not show up until 5pm. All the drivers came out of front door, John made a beeline to the line a apologized to everyone in the line for being late. In all the hubbub, I saw an extra face in the line: Brittany Force. SWEET!!!
John, in typical Force fashion, signed everything in sight. Diecasts, handouts, car parts, you name it. He even posed for pictures with everyone who wanted a pic as well. The only time when he stepped away from the signing was to go into the offices after he had a family with a newborn in the stroller go inside to get out of the heat. He even said that they could stay as long as they needed inside until the child was OK...then he signed their items in the shop. That's a gold star in everybody's book.
After I got my diecasts and hero cards signed, I tour the shop, but not much was there--most the cars there were either A) at the track for the JFR Road Show exhibit or B)were getting repainted by PPG.
But a good time was had by all as the only complaints were the heat, but it's Labor Day weekend in the Midwest...so there!!!
Now that I'm done talking, here is the pics...
