http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2068810/Saudis-fear-virgins-people-turn-gay-female-drive-ban-lifted.html

Repealing a ban on women drivers in Saudi Arabia would result in ‘no more virgins’, the country’s religious council has warned.

A ‘scientific’ report claims relaxing the ban would also see more Saudis - both men and women - turn to homosexuality and pornography.

The startling conclusions were drawn by Muslim scholars at the Majlis al-Ifta’ al-A’ala, Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council, working in conjunction with Kamal Subhi, a former professor at the King Fahd University.

Their report assessed the possible impact of repealing the ban in Saudi Arabia, the only country in the world where women are not allowed behind the wheel.

The report warns that allowing women to drive would ‘provoke a surge in prostitution, pornography, homosexuality and divorce’.

Within ten years of the ban being lifted, the report’s authors claim, there would be ‘no more virgins’ in the Islamic kingdom.

And it pointed out ‘moral decline’ could already be seen in other Muslim countries where women are allowed to drive.

In the report Professor Subhi described sitting in a coffee shop in an unnamed Arab state.

‘All the women were looking at me,’ he wrote. ‘One made a gesture that made it clear she was available... this is what happens when women are allowed to drive.’

If this is true I invite the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to join the rest of us in the 21st century. SMH.

Alot of our laws such as the infamous blue laws are rooted in outdated customs but we are still able to move forward as a society. Saudi will move forward eventually I just don't know when.

Since this isn't about Christians, nobody expects you to.

I think it is telling that the thread about a single church banning interracial marriages is already 4 pages long after 24 hours and this thread about Islamic "scholars", in nearly the same time frame, only has 4 responses, 2 of which are by the same person. If this thread were about Christian scholars doing this then the thread would have already his 100 posts easy.

Mabey because we live in america and not saudi arabia. Besides there are way more christians making life difficult for us than there are muslims. Do any muslims even use this site? If so please stop by and say hi.

So "we" only oppose religious ignorance in our own country? I didn't realize that was the way we were doing things.

Religious ignorance is wrong no matter where it takes place. However american needs to come down from it's high horse and get it's own house in order before it tries to clean someone else's.

The fact remains, if this story was about a Christian-controlled country banning women from driving based on protecting virginity and preventing homosexuality then this thread would have gone wild with Christian-bashing.

The fact that you and I are responsible for 7 of the 12 posts in here speaks volumes.

so the reason no one is talking about it on a trading card forum is because america needs to gets its house in order first? Or are you attempting to turn this into a war commentary thread? I'm very confused

We can talk about whatever we like over here. It just trips me out how some people over here talk about their are holier than thou, never sinned, never did anything wrong and can only point out others flaws but will not admit that they are part of the problem. SMH.

huh? a thread starts about something in saudi. who is talking about being holier than thou and never sinning? So on a thread about women not being allowed to drive in Saudi you want christians to come in here and say, "well, can't really say anything about them because we christians mess up too"? what are you talking about? Show me one place in this thread where someone acted "holier than thou"

ok, couple of things. how am I "promoting christianity"? how, in an article on saudi arabia, did you feel the need to talk about america being self-righteous?

as for the original topic, this is ridiculous on so many levels. i would love to know the correlation between driving and homsexuality

You are a christian preacher are you not? If so is that not your job to promote christanity? But like you said this article is not about the ills of america or christians. I agree that if this article is true it is one of the dumbest things that I heard. On the cool though if a certian element of american society had their way american would not be that much different from saudi arabia and what would little bit of freedom that we take for granted today will become a distant memory.

give me a break man. even in a thread about saudi arabia you can't help but make not so subtle jabs at christianity. there are 2 threads right now that have turned into pretty much bash christianity threads. please keep it there.

and i have never seen you read an article about something bad christians have done and say "if this is true" but apparently you aren't ready to believe this article.

I have never been to saudi arabia before, have you? We can only take what the american media says about them with a grain of salt. Yes I would believe a story about what goes on over here because we both live in america and we can see first hand what goes on over here. I'm sure the saudi american media writes articles that makes americans look like a a bunch of idiots as well.

It's the truth, not unless you feel i'm compelled to lie over the internet for some reason...LOL...i find it funny that this thread has nothing to do with Christianity, but for some reason you want to deflect and make it about Christianity some how...i guess it's like a thread being about Obama and everyone bringing up Bush, huh? I never said it was about Christianity. Just pointing out the obvious bias. Or am I the only one on here not allowed to do that?

And brining up Bush as an excuse for Obama doing something and me pointing out the obvious bias between this thread and other similar ones about Christians is hardly the same thing. Nice try tho.

One is making an excuse. One is pointing out a bias. I see no correlation.

If I said that Muslims shouldn't catch grief because Christians do it all the time, then it would be the same.

Is there a bias against christians, possibly. However it is not what some of the christians make it out to be. I have been on this site for a year coming on almost every day. I have yet to see any members from saudi arabia or any other middle eastern country. The reason why a thread like this dosen't get any love is because people have enough problems at home so why would they spend their time and energy worring about saudi? Don't get me wrong I have no problem discussing their issues but most people are not going to pay them any mind. Out of sight out of mind.

My point has been the same all along. If this was about Christian "scholars" preventing women from driving then this thread would have been on fire with the bashing.

I guess Muslim women should be thankful that they just lost any right to drive. They could be getting stoned or beheaded...

if i had posted on the thread about the racist church in kentucky that "its not a big deal, you should see what they do in islamic countries" I would have been crucified. but you can come on here and basically say "christians aren't much better"?

and as for the idea that people have enough problems at home so they aren't going to worry about saudi. give me a break man. people hop on here and debate all kinds of things that don't matter. half the stuff that we debate isn't because it effects us personally.

To Duane's point about the lack of a reaction to the thread; I think it all boils done to the fact WE all expect more out of ourselves than we do out of Muslim run countries. For me personally, I have known about their archaic way of treating women all my life it seems, so I do not react with shock and condemnation although it is deserved. On the other hand, the recent story about a church banning inter-racial couples from participating in church services in a western country DOES shock me, so it gets a reaction.

You right all of us have engaged in frivilous debates on here at one point or another. However I stand by what I said. Most of us have never, nor do we have any intrest in going to saudi arabia. So if you mention saudi to the average person on here and they are going to give a blank stare to their computer. However if a muslim/christian/jew/atheist/etc in america does something wrong it will light up like fire on here. I can assure you it is not a christian thing it is a country and cultural thing. BTW I am glad that my wife, mother, sister, cousins, aunts all have the right to drive without gov't interference in america............ except for that little inconvenience called racial profiling but that's for a different debate. :winking0071:

Not to mention the fact that most of us live in the US or Canada, so this particular assault on all reason and human decency doesn't have much relevance to us. What are we going to do? This?

Christian: "Look what these Muslims did. They're nuts."
Atheist: "Yup. They sure are."
Christian: "Yeah."
Atheist: "Yeah."
Christian: "So, uh...what do we do now?"
Atheist: "You wanna play Halo?"
Christian: "Sure. I get to be the Covenant."
Atheist: (muttering) "Of course you do."

And for the record, if this kind of nonsense had been wrought by a Christian church in America, not only would the atheists be screaming our heads off in protest, the Christians would be screaming their heads off in support.

I agree with you. It is easy to overlook Muslim ignorance because we expect them to be archaic and ignorant. According to GBM he expects Christians to be oppressive and try to kill him in his sleep, it doesn't seem to slow him down from ranting about it every chance he gets.

The thread about the church banning black marriages aside, the thread about Tebow being a Christian has gotten more interest than this thread. It is currently on it's 47th page. So 47 pages of ranting because Tebow is a Christian and wears verses on his eye stickers, your "Why Should I Belive' thread is on page 26, but just 4 pages over Muslims banning women from driving because it will eliminate virgins and promote homosexsuality. I see that as just a little more than being jaded to Muslim idiocy.
