You think that card is worth that much $$$$$??

gioperation

it is to somebody, if you catch the right item it worth more to some people.

WOW! I personally wouldn't be selling this card now. I think Grif is going to produce this year and that could make a major shift in this card.

Right now: I'd say about $2-3K

If Grif gets hot this year: $5k +

Beckett just doesn't grade 10s on a regular basis. It's literally a perfect card.

WOW already up to $8000. I don't think I could ever imagine spending that much money on only 1 card.

And still hasn't met the reserve yet. He's charging $50 for insured shipping... is it really that much?

$8000 seems a litttle high to me and I would never pay that much for one card, but I suppose there are Griffey collectors out there with plently of money to spend and I think I'll watch this auction to see what it does sell for....

holy freaking cow. $8,100 offered, and it's not even acceptable by the seller?

yikes?!?!

One thing about Ebay --- I am always amazed at what someone is willing to pay for stuff I thought was trash.

stkmtimo

That person has a potential gem on their hands, that's a nice card. Price seems too much for it, but heck, if people are willing to pay it - why not?

I think it's Griffey himself buying the card, who else has that much cash?!
I think the guy selling is selling at a good time since most people think Griffey is going to have a comeback season; but if he doesn't I wouldn't have wanted to spend $8000 for that card!!!

stkmtimo

I'd spend $8,000 on that Tiger/MJ dual game used autograph from UD Superstars, rather than that flimsy piece of cardboard :)

It's at $8,200, and the reserve has NOT been met yet! This guy is nuts! But then again, it's Griffey... and this is the first BGS 10 I've ever even seen!

If you look at his previous auction that went sour... he had a buy it now of $12,000!!!!!!!!!!

podstock
03-28-2003, 03:26 PM
that takes some guts to not accept $8200.

a card is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.

Canseco 86 Donruss rookies were worth $50+ back in 1988. Now, it's just a cardboard.

Ruben Sierra was worth $15 back then too. Now, it's not worth the paper it's printed on.

gioperation
03-28-2003, 03:34 PM
what do you guys really think this card is worth?

I wish I was the one selling it, but in my case I would have gotten $200 for it or something, this is puttin grif in the MJ/woods range.

radioheadfloyd
03-28-2003, 05:33 PM
Well I think that it is crazy to pay that much more just to get a bgs 10, because I have seen PSA 10s and BGS 9,5's of that card go for a couple hundred dollars ,I would rather have one of those and a lot of extra money in the bank.

meuandthelot
03-29-2003, 05:37 AM
Hell you could buy 40- 50 psa 10's for what one person is willing to pay for this 1.Crack the cream of the crop out and submit for cross grade. Some people just boggle my mind. Plus you can bet your arse whoever printed these has a case of 10,000 sittin' around somewhere and when they get wind of this woouuhlaaa the pop report will go from 1 to 6,000 .
Here's an ex.:the ultra rare S.I #536 TIGER WOODS SERIES 3 13 73 165 69 109 479 2 9's-110 10's- 7 total= 1028
* I'm sure someones just sitting on about 5,000+ copies of unsold magazines!!
Or this after it hit 25-30K.#57 MICHAEL JORDAN 18 88 239 444 1692 49 5094 481 9's- 1541 9Q- 219 10's- 86 total= 9953
*This is only P.S.A

I got spoiled in the 70's when you actually completed THE sports SET for that year TOPPS(felt good to ink "psa 1" that last checklist box ")!! Even Fleer had a tough time.Late 80's early 90's chase cards "cool" so we thought.Mid 90's to current 10 companies with 3,4 or 5+ brands(some $100+ packs) with 3 tier base numbering, limited spectrum /25,stat line etc. etc..let alone the 10tier variable G/U inserts" It's insanity I'm tellin' ya".

*Why this gets my goat is I try and start local kids collecting(for free) with my "spare room" full of commons/semi-stars/teams, and most of them pull out a beckett and say "where's the beef"!! I give up!!!!! :hop: That card shop called, " When it was a game" is a real metaphor.

damn!! $9,200 and the reserve still hasn't been met.

holy cow. how much is this seller looking for?

Wouldn't it be ironic if the reserve is not met; then Griffey gets injured on Opening Day, and is out for the season?

Who's gonna buy the card then?

$9300 dollars and still the reserve has not been met, I can't imagine spending that much on one card...

stkmtimo
03-30-2003, 04:38 PM
Spend the money on something that's worth it, not that card, it's not worth $8,000, I'd buy a GU or auto or spend it on something worth it.

Tim

$9300, reserve not yet met and a rookie? Not in my book, pre-rookie maybe, but I guess an investment if scarce as they state. Must be nice to have that much to put out for a card, he BGray we need them in our forum (donations and such).
I have e-mailed my Beckett grading contact to get a response from him on the state of this auction and value of their BGS 10's. Curious to see his response.

I'm sorry and not to get a posting credit but I did check it out and it is a valid BGS 10 on Becketts website population report. I was curious to see if it was listed....They have a nice BGS 10 Lebron James on their home page also for a mere $1995.95.

Good info gunzz... I guess if you're a Griffey supporter it's a good buy. Especially now if he has a hot season this year (like a lot of people are predicting), you probably could easily flip that card for a profit. $10,000 is very a risky investment though and it would take some serious balls for one to put a bid on it.

stkmtimo

I tend to agree with Iggy, and I think there are better places to put the cash.

Ended at $9,500 RESERVE NOT MET.... I think the seller is crazy for not taking that much $$$ for the card.

stkmtimo

What a moron. I'd gladly take $9,500 for a flimsy piece of cardboard without any autograph or game used material.

He relisted and now it's at $7.900 with the reserve met. He should have taken the $9,500.

he should have offered the high bidder the card for 9500.00 I bet it goes over 10K this time, but I could get more than 800 for a big mac auto 2/9 from ultimate collection the lowest #'d auto big has ever had and he doesn't sign auto's only for UD or Sosa.
