I can't read the article up here in the Great White North, but I always thought that San Francisco held that honour.

Yeah everyone thinks that but Atlanta has taken that title for a while. During the late 1990s through the 2000s Atlanta was the cool place to be. Everyone and their daddy jumped on the bandwagon and moved down here. You have a wide range of people from neo-cons, libs, gay, straight, black, white, asian, hispanic, and everything in between.

I think SF is just the most expressive about their support of the gay community

Yeah atlanta and a couple of surronding counties are ok with gays. The rest of the state of georgia is not.
