CONTEST RULES:
1. Contest begins at 12:00am EST February 1st and runs until 11:59pm EST February 29th. Only auctions won during that time will be accepted for entry! And... Entries will be accepted until March 1, 11:59pm. ***Please only enter wins from the listed dates.***
2. Three (3) auctions per member per month. If a member submits more than three entries for the month, only the first three will be considered. (Please edit your wins into one post). The auction needs to be on single cards, not on a box of cards. Choose wisely! (Hockey only, please check the other sports for a similar contest)
3. Post a link to your Ebay auction win.
4. The Ebay user ID in your SCF profile MUST match the user ID of the winning bidder!
**I will not chase people to make sure that there Ebay Profile is set up properly on SCF. If your ID is not set up your entry will not be accepted. So please make sure you are good to go. If you do not know how to setup your Ebay user ID in your SCF profile, feel free to contact me but I will not chase people down to make sure it is done.
5. Explain why you think your card is a steal. If it has a BV, let us know. You can even show previous auctions that ended to compare your win. Convince us!
6. The Hockey moderating team will vote on the winner. Winner will be announced after the votes are in and given 150cc into their account.
7. Member must be in good standing. Please refer to the SCF Rules page (http://www.sportscardforum.com/view.php?pg=rules)on infractions.
8. Please make sure that the auction you submit is not a private listing (where eBay IDs are not shown). Private listing auctions will not be accepted as winning bidder user IDs cannot be verified.

Okay, how the heck can a Buy-It-Now (or Best Offer) transaction be a steal, particularly when I paid the full Buy-It-Now price?

This is one of the eight cards I've needed to finish off my 2006-07 BAP Autograph set. Usually when I find one of these cards, they are double book value on eBay and the Scotsman in me cannot bring himself to pay such usury. And the sellers, quite reasonably, want to get the most they can and don't care what some price guide says. So the hunt continues, and every two or three days I scan eBay to see if one of these missing cards emerges from the mists.

This week got busy, and my usual every-two-day-scan had a gap more like five days. And like watched pots never boil, unwatched cards always seem to get listed (and sold!).

Tonight, I found this one, with a Buy-It-Now price ($21.95) which is below high book value ($30.00) and not all that obscene. I checked the purchase history to see if I might be able to do slightly better than the list price on a best offer. Then I saw trouble: while two of these cards had been listed, one had already been bought, and an offer was pending on the other. No time to lose!

So this steal of the month was stealing it away from that pending offer and adding another long sought after card to my collection. And frankly, at 2/3rd of high book including delivery, that list price really isn't bad at all. Certainly a lot cheaper than the cost of the frustration I'd be feeling for missing out and the hours I'd still be spending trying to this card run down.

Not sure if this is kosher with the "single card" rule, but I picked up lot of eight Lindros cards for $1.99.

The "steal" is that two of the cards are from the 95-96 Donruss Elite Lemieux / Lindros series. The BV for these cards is $25 each. To get one for $1.99 is a steal... to get two for $1.99 is larceny!

At first glance you may not agree, let me tell you a few things to consider. The Malkin Tribute /5 went for almost $900 last night, probably the hottest player in the league right? But what about the BEST overall player in the World? Say it with me now "ALL DAY" :wave:

Update: The Toews Tribute /10 appears to have gone for close to $900 and even more unbelievable the Kopitar and Kovalchuk Tributes /5 sold for more than Dats :nono:

The card is in mint condition, a great card for a great price. The BV is predicted to go up by a few reviewers and enthusiasts. If I were to sell it currently I could make more than double my money back.

Well, grateful that I won last month---thank you. I don't think I'll win this month, with all of the great entries, but here are my top 3 from this month:

#1: This guy, who may be the best shootout artist of all time, from 05/06 Ultimate Collection. The product even for base auto's is a pain to get. But when you get a star like this, wow! Season totals: 33 pts. in 60 games. Considering he has 322 pts. in 517 career games, not a bad purchase!
