March 3rd, 2012, is the 9th birthday of Sports Card Forum, and everybody is invited to the party!

As a special thank you to the people who are responsible for SCF’s amazing growth over the years—that’s you, our amazing members!—we have a special contest that is going to run in each sport’s Contest Forum with an awesome prize in each section to be given away! That’s right – it’s our party and we’re bringing you the presents!

Here is the contest:

Tell us your favourite card acquired here at Sports Card Forum. This can be a card you acquired via a trade, a sale, a card cash purchase, a pack sale, or a staff-sponsored group break, as long as you got the card from someone, somehow, via SCF we want to see it and we want to know why it is your absolute favourite card. The “SCF Experience” is something that we value very highly, as we want all of our members to consider SCF the best site online for all their hobby needs. Share with us the card, the photo, and the story and you can win a great prize.

Here is an example of how your entry could go. There's no "right" or "wrong" way to do this, just go with what feels best for you!

A couple of years ago, doniceage hosted a group case break that featured 2007-08 ITG O Canada and 2006-07 ITG Between The Pipes. I very rarely participate in group breaks, but these two products have a lot of cards of my favourite player (Carey Price) in them that spotlight his early years as a hockey player. It’s so tough to find his Tri-City Americans or Team Canada stuff, and with a case of each being broken, and with a bit of good luck on the draft position, I thought that maybe I could end up grabbing some rare items for my PC. The draft positions were announced and I ended up with the #4 spot in O Canada and the #8 spot in Between The Pipes. I thought to myself that this would end up working out all right – there’s enough great cards that could potentially be pulled that any Price stuff would slide down to me. Then Don posted the videos of the breaks – in the 7th box of O Canada out popped a Carey Price Complete Jersey. As Don said, “Get happy folks!” This was far and away the best card out of the break and there was no way I could let it go to someone else, so I got in touch with the fellow who had the #1 overall pick. I gave him all of my picks in both drafts plus some other cards to secure that #1 position. No matter what else was in the breaks, I simply had to have the Price Complete Jersey. The deal was agreed to and to this day this is the card that remains my favourite card acquired here at SCF. And really, how could it not be? Just take a look at this gem!

Runners-up, we have something for you too! The member who comes in 2nd place in each sport’s voting will receive 1,000CC.

In addition to your submission, we also have the following requirements for contest entry:
1. Please Digg The SCF Birthday Contest here: OFFICIAL DIGG LINK (http://digg.com/news/sports/scf_s_9th_birthday_all_sports_contests_sports_card _forum) PLEASE POST YOUR DIGG ID IN THE THREAD TO HELP VERIFY THAT YOU HAVE DUGG THE CONTEST!
2. Please enter into at least one transaction on SCF during the contest period. This can be any deal that is eligible to be posted in the Trade Manager except for CC-for-Paypal deals. We want to see an actual transaction involving cards! You do not have to complete the deal, as we all know that the mail system cannot always deliver – we just want you to be active in trading, buying, or selling. Please post the link in your post.
3. You must be a member in good standing. This means no major infractions on your account in the past 30 days; no suspensions: if you have been suspended from SCF for rule violations during the past 30 days, you are disqualified from participating; no negative feedback for the past 30 days prior to the beginning of the contest - any negative feedback received will be investigated by the SCF Dispute Team.
4. Due to the voting requirements for staff on best break, SCF Staff are not eligible to participate in this contest.
5. You may enter into each sport’s contest once! You may enter a unique submission in any or all of the sports you wish, but you must have a unique story for each sport – you cannot simply copy and paste the story and substitute a sport-appropriate card. Multiple submissions in a single sport (i.e. Baseball) will result in disqualification from that sport’s contest as well as any others you have entered.

Once again, a big thank you to all of SCF’s valued members that have helped make this the very best online trading community! We look forward to your entries!

This is by FAR my favorite card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item2314905dd1&item=150668860881&nma=true&pt=US_Baseball&rt=nc&si=3WFyxxj8n2JIrezvR4sN2TcRB2o%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_1712wt_1778

It is a 2011 TTT Andrew Bailey logoman card, numbered 1/1. I received it in the mail on Halloween this past year. I was shocked when I pulled it out as I was not expecting it at all. It took me awhile to figure out who had sent it; turns out it was the member Covet. He mentioned he had a few Bailey cards he'd like to send me for my collection, but that it wasn't much. Turns out it was the exact opposite!!

He is a great guy, and has also led me to do a few giveaways of my own; although, I do not have the funds to pull off one of these (yet!)! One I am out of college and am on my feet, hopefully I can make somebody else's day.

I got this 2007 Spx Winning Materials Dual Gold Jeremy Sowers card in a trade to move out some wrestling and other stuff. It has meaning since when I was in my teens I used to attend Cape Cod Baseball League games-Wareham Gatemen specifically, if anyone doesn't know, this is one of the premier leagues where college players play in the summer. Many current and former MLBers have played there. While I didn't collect much baseball since I was younger, I saw the guy I was trading with had it and I just had to grab it. It was just really cool to get something of a guy I watched growing up. If I'm dealing outside my major sport of hockey and dealing in what little baseball I do have and I see someone has cards of a former Cape Leaguer I used to watch, then I try to go for it. Just something nice about having a card of a guy I used to see play every week right close to home.

Almost forgot to add the picture oops.

So I had just taken a year off of collecting. School got in the way and I just couldn't find the time or the pleasure anymore in trying to collect cards. Around June of 2010 after a rough school year I decided to see what was going on, on here. I saw some cools things going and I decided to try and make some Trades.

The Very first trade I made got me one of my most favorite and Valuable Torii Hunter cards I currently own in my Posession. A 2007 Ultimate Collection "Ultimate Team Materials" GU/auto 9/10. I traded away Nick Markakis/Mark Clayton dual auto for this at the time, but the low Serial numbering of the Hunter made it Totally Worth it! Ever since coming back that June I have been trading stronger than ever!

Enjoy the pic (Sorry about size and the other 2 cards in the picture)

When I first found SCF, I had been out of the hobby for over 10 years. The idea of memorabilia cards was foreign to me. The only auto cards I had seen where from the 1997 Donruss Signature Series. But when I saw these cards, I thought they were the coolest thing ever. But since I didn't have any, it was going to be hard to trade my over-produced 90s cards for these cool piece of the game cards. So, I started buying some here and there where I could. Then, I ran into a member that was looking to get as many 90s inserts as he could of some of his favorite players. He was looking for 3-1 bv for some really nice memorabilia cards. I jumped on the opportunity. I ended up sending him about 100 cards with a bv of about $300 for this beauty...

The highlight of my memorabilia collection with that beautiful stripe. This card got me back into the hobby...for better or worse :).

MR Cardboard, a shoutout to you, my friend. Probally the BEST deal I have ever gotten, was on SCF. Not all the time you buy a card for 1/3 of retail. Great member. This is one of the nicer cards in my PC of bryce harper. There are lots of times 'STEALS' on ebay, but this was a great deal that was a offered 'STEAL'. Thank you so much SCF and MR Cardboard For making my expireance great:

heres my story it I made a trade with someone on the forum(for the life of me i cant remember who I made it with) in the package there was a few base cards of my new pc freddie freeman and craig kimbrel who without sportscardforum i wouldve never been so happy to getting back into the hobby. Anyways i recieved the base cards and was happy, but then i realized there was a card that said "congratulations" "topps diamond giveaway" a bit confused about the cards i tossed it on my bed, I figured it was a contest you would enter and have a CHANCE to win. When i was sleeping i was being awaken constantly by a poking in my back and grabeed the thing and saw it was the card. I saw the code on the back and was curious at 2 am in the morning and opened up my laptop and made an account i entered the code and what do you know an albert pujols card but this was a little different then a normal card it was a card #/60 and it was black

The photos are not the exact card because i do not have a scanner but i found one online and one of my pc card

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z343/sportsfanatic1096/Autos/albertpujols.jpg

After that i was searching 2011 topps box breaks on youtube and on one of the related videos i saw a title of a guys trade thread i clicked on it and i was amazed it was a freddie freema/jason heyward auto
http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z343/sportsfanatic1096/Autos/Autos-1.jpg

after a quick phone call i asked him who he collected and he said albert pujols. A light bulb went off in my head and showed him the card i unlocked and redeemed a week before and he wanted it. We did a straight up trade and we were both extremely excited. Id just like to thank my one and only trade site sportscardforum and that unknown trader because without you guys id wouldnt be able to say i got a rare prized personal collection item

Dugg under Michael Barton

I guess the best thing I ever did was not a card, but when we all finally figured out and got back most of our cards from a former user who stole from all of us. His user id was bigbecraft and it took over a year and a lot of work, but we all finally got most of our stuff back. I thought that was just the coolest thing ever done on a trading card site, and it's why I stayed loyal to SCF for all these years.

As far as cards, it's my Chris Sale 2011 Topps Chrome Auto I just traded for :)
