Hey guys, I pretty much new to McFarlane Figures...I only have 2 figures and those are of the Sosa and Thomas figures...I bought a total of 4 sets, kept one and traded one. How much do you think I can get on ebay? And what's the difference between Varients and Chase figures?? I saw a Jeter with a Grey Jersey instead of the PinStrips one featured on the packaging, is that considered a Varient or a Chase? Any help would be great! Thanks!

right now the fanfest sets are not bringing too much because they are so abundant and you had to sell them quick if you wanted to make some profit , i paid 15 a piece for mine. it depends who you talk to about the chase and variants, the jeter is a repaint and not considered a chase piece. actually the jeter and giambi repaints in that series are the most available in some areas.
usually the rule of thumb for a variant is exactly what it sounds like , a variation from the original and if you want to consider the jeter a variant i guess you could since the original was the pinstripes in series 2. There were also some errors on mcfarlanes end with the variants like the tejada, when that series first came out people thought the yellow bill version was the variant because the package featured the green bill but it wasnt. its hard to keep up with that stuff sometimes

I don't know much about them myself except that they are the best sports figures I've ever seen.
I don't like that they are doing different version and some rarer than others though. That they do that with cards is bad enough.
Now they are doing it with figures.

first hobby ever where people threaten you in the toy isle. some people are so obsessive about these variants they will do anything to get them. the secondary market for these are huge. christ some people are making a killing on customizing these for like 100 a piece but the demand for customs is fading because the mcfarlane announced a legends series is in the works.
im not going to pay 100 for a payton custom if i can get one for 10 in the future.
