wow, check out these prices

LeBron James 2002 SAGE Pangos Green Version

Graded BGS 10 Pristine! = $1,995.95

Graded 9.5 = 499.95

Graded 9 = 199.95

seems to me if you are buying, the graded 9 is not a bad price.

That said, I'll pass.

I got two words for whoever has the #1 draft pick upcoming ---

A little weed never hurt anyone... he celebrated with a lot harder stuff. He was a coke addict that no one knew about and used his signing money to fulfill his habbit a little overboard.

Iggy, wow .

Thanks for that tidbit. Didn't know that.

yep coke was the deal, and not the cola either I guess it did have a little fizz, you are right I keep telling people weed has never hurt anyone.

and if more people were on it, the crime rate would down and every corner store that sold chips, their profits would skyrocket.

little kids I do not advise drugs in anyway and I am drugfree.

The other day, I saw a guy selling a LeBron RC "graded 10", it looked fake, going for $9,995. The seller said: "It's stored in an air tight vault to ensure purity." I cracked up after reading that one!!

stkmtimo..I am not sure I'd pay $10,00 for a Kobe right now, much less Lebron, lol

Something that high, I'd have to do the transaction in person

Yeah, Bias died from Cocaine. Weed isn't gonna kill anyone. There are no known overdose deaths related to weed. However, it is called the stepping stone drug for a reason.

Anyway, I will definitely be buying his cards! I'd prefer a chrome or SP version though. Maybe even an UD ultimate. ;)

Bgray it is mind over matter, never tried anything higher than weed, but i will tell you what, I never really wanted to, have to stop smoking when I made a U-turn on the highway because it was raining and no longer wanted to go that way anymore, I just wanted to go back home, oh yeah and the time I sleep in my car outside my buddies house because I felt I was to stoned to go home, they are still laughing to this day everytime they offer me a puff.

I got my best grades in college when I went to class stoned though, writing papers was soooooooooo easy.

There is no way LeBron can live up to the hype. High school is one thing - the NBA is another. He'll be a flameout, IMO. I'd take Carmelo Anthony from Syracuse over LeBron anyday.

I don't think Lebron will flame out; but it remains to be seen how big a heart he has.

Can an 18-y/o, financially set for life after the contract and endorsements this coming season, have the motivation needed to be amongst the best ever to play NBA?

Shawn Kemp was one hell of a prospect. He was a fantastic ballplayer.

Then he got an 8 year $100M contract (or somewhere in that neighborhood), and promptly turned into the Michelin Tires man.

He probably single-handedly was the reason Krispy Kreme became the franchise that it is

I don't know about that it was different back then, now they hook you up with a solid vet, they took a page form MLB, they say the kid is very mature for his age, but he has been around stars of the NBA for years, I think he will be alright, I remember when in I think 90' Indiana hs finals he went from the Free Throw line, everybody in the guy went nutz. I don't think it was donuts, or the money I believe it was the 40oz and all the hanging out. Him and Vinny Baker hooked up

Yeah lebron did good in high school going against 5'10" white kids, but how will he do against T-Mac and Kobe? He will be a bust.

gioperation
05-23-2003, 12:33 PM
oh really, that's funny because most of the highlight pic's had him going over young black guys, I wish yall quit hating on lebron, first off there is not possible way he lives up to the hype in his first season, but give him time, he will be a great ballplayer...

05-23-2003, 05:54 PM
no not probably if you are that sure he is going to be a bust, then you should give all of his cards to me and I will give a carmello for everyone you give to me forever.

First off you need to learn how to edit your posts to put 2 posts in one and then secondly it should matter a rookie is a rookie, if you like them, some get alot of playing time the first year and some dies off, only never to be seen again, and then there are others who go on to have great careers in sports.

I put this out to you I believe lebron will become a great player int he nba you don't. I am not saying he will take over the league, his first year, but I will say this we will soon find out. we have to give this guy a few years in the league, as he learns players strengths and weaknesses. The dude has desire to be the best, as he also was a great player in HS, and they played against top high school in the country, remember mello played against who, some college players who scouts are saying was the weakest college players in some time, plus during lebeons junior year he played against mello, what happened mello's team beat them but lebron outscored and outplayed mello, the key to the game, mello had help as his team had a couple players that were Div 1 quality and what did lebron have, not one player on his team is D1 ready or quality.

Alll this talk, and all this hype will soon end. November is just around the corner, and Lebron will get the chance to show his stuff.

Kobe was protected, as he wasn't needed in the first year, so he mostly sat and watched.

But Lebron will be tested, b/c fans aren't buying up season tickets to watch him sit on the bench.

The Cavs have a weak team, and it won't be hard to shut down Lebron.

Look at how the Pistons shut down T-Mac in games 3-7, after he went off on them for 35+ in games 1 + 2.

gioperation
05-24-2003, 02:11 AM
everybody gets shut down, ok the pistons shut down t-mac does that mean he isn't any good, MJ got shut down a lot too in the early day, but he still became the greatest player in the game

I dont think LeBron will be a bust. But, I dont know if he can live up to the expectations. I mean he is expected to what Kobe and T-Mac are doing now, and that is not going to happen just like that. Another thing, has anyone else ever signed for $100 million and not even started their professional career???

Last, I want LeBron cards :D

I've seen LebroN james play in person at the Pangos tournament at UCLA Pauley Pavillion. The guy is a great passer. Thats what makes him different from all the other high school prospects;hes not just a scorer. HOWEVER, his outside shot is not consistent at all!!! and he needs to turn that part of his game around. When tmac and kobe came into the league, they didnt have a great shot. but look at them now.

The only reason i dont think Lebron will be as good as everyone says is because he has to live up to the hype, or else it will be considered failing. and the hype meter is set too high.

Card Crazy
05-24-2003, 06:19 PM
I think that in time LeBron will be a great player. Look at Kobe Bryant: it took him almost 5 years to play to his potential. So yeah, I'm gonna get some LeBron cards.

I also think that Carmelo Anthony will be a great player if we give him time. I'll pick up a few of his RCs too.

I can't wait, damn bgray banned profit, you took away a my money maker he was going to trade me all his lebron for all my mello's damn I was going to make a killing.

both will be good but lebron got more hype, hell if nike and upper deck is betting on him 90 and 75 million each, why wouldn't I.

podstock
05-25-2003, 01:03 AM
Gioperation ---- keep in mind that if Nike is wrong with their $90M investment, they can write it off on their balance sheet, paying even less tax on their revenues.

You and anyone else who stocks up on Lebron will be stuck with them.

How many folks do you think have tons of Griffey Jr cards that they wish they hadn't spent so much money on?

How about Ryan Leaf?

Or what about Ki-Jana Carter?

Grant Hill?

Don't put all your eggs in one basket

gioperation
05-25-2003, 01:08 AM
you are right I will write that crap off of my taxes as well, what is my business selling trading cards on ebay or another site, but you are right, I loaded up on amare this year, still got a lot of them, but the really expensive one I sold for a nice profit. because I would hate to be stuck with them, every one can't be like the vick spx card that went from a couple hundred to 1K. Speaking of the year 2001 netting some nice rookies, ichiro, vick, prior and a few others.

Im thinking about buying a case of 2003-04 UD Top Prospects to chase the Lebron rookies. Should I consider this, or should I pay outrageous prices for his individual cards? Thoughts from those of you considering the same options. Thanks

gioperation
05-25-2003, 01:37 PM
if you buy now you are going to lose out big time, you must understand that ud just paid 75 million for this guy, and they are going to try to get the 75 million before he steps foot on courtm so his cards I bet will be short printed big time, but I would probably buy the case, but then again I would wait until the middle of the season or close to the end, no matter how well or bad he performs and pick them up at really decent prices. check yahoo, naxcom, ebay and any other sell sites out there, you will find them. My amare collection is worth around $800 and I think I spent maybe $100. I know there is a difference with lebron and amare(the hype is the only diff) but still.

podstock
05-25-2003, 05:47 PM
I agree with GI.

And to add, there's a HUGE difference b/t Lebron and Amare.

Amare has shown he can play with the big boys of the NBA.

Lebron has not yet had the chance.....right now, the only thing Lebron has is potential.

Card Crazy
05-25-2003, 10:51 PM
I agree with podstock. The reason Amare got rookie of the year instead of Yao was because Amare adjusted to the system much faster. I also think Yao has way too much pressure on him, being the #1 pick, starting in the All-star game, etc. Yao will be great, but it will take time The same thing may happen to LeBron James.

Ill try to be getting into basketball next year for the Lebron and the Carmello (Orangemen #1) Maybe........notsure yet. Not that big a basketball fan.

podstock

anyone buying individual cards of Lebron and Carmello will be paying what folks were paying for $100 UD Griffey rookies back in 1990s.

Those same Griffeys now can be had for $40

LOL! Thanks for bringing this one up, jonnyweb. While surfing on Google one day, I found a message board thread where someone said LeBron would be the next Harold Miner.

It's always funny when people haven't even seen much of a hyped player and predict he will fail. Do they really think they know that much or do they just WANT some people to fail?

jonnyweb
03-22-2005, 11:24 PM
maybe a bit of both. I'm not going to lie, i saw the kid play high school ball on espn and i wasn't sold on his being the next great one. with what he has already accomplished, i don't see how anyone can doubt him now.

This started before Lebron even played in the NBA. I read through all five pages. Some people said he'd be a bust! Someone picked Darko over him for ROY. MJ was the 3rd pick but some people, including Pat Riley, didn't think he'd be great.

The NBA's changing a lot with the rules changes (will make the game more peremiter and better in my opinion) and all the European players. But USA players are still the best (despite losing the last Olympics).
