Garycolemanx 03-30-2003, 02:08 AM Im looking to invest in a case of baskettball cards, im trying to find out what is the hottest thing out right now that will give me the most for my money. If you could let me know of what some are, it would be really helpful.
Thanks
j.e.lew 03-30-2003, 02:09 AM Topps Chrome is always a good bet.
Garycolemanx 03-30-2003, 02:11 AM which year though, that I also need to know.
j.e.lew 03-30-2003, 02:16 AM 96/97 or this year. The best rookie crop of players in the last few years. another good Case would be 96/97 Finest.
Really any higher end stuff w/ Kobe rc's in it.
Or wait til Lebron James rc are out after the Draft. That would be A hit or miss buy,m But think of the possibilities 20 years later if this guy is the real deal?
Garycolemanx 03-30-2003, 02:21 AM does 2002-2003 chrome have a lot of good stuff in it?
j.e.lew 03-30-2003, 02:38 AM Yao Ming, Amare Stoudamire are the Big ones, but it also has Jay Williams.
I'm going to move this post to the Basketball card talk forum,
This forum is for tradeing only. Sorry
Garycolemanx 03-30-2003, 02:41 AM well thanks I will check it out if anybody else has any info let me know I would be happy to hear from you.
thanks
podstock 03-30-2003, 05:08 AM your best bet is to pick the Kobe rookie years.
It's highly unlikely Lebron plays 15-20 years. He's going to get almost $40M (salary, endorsements, shoes, colas, etc) in just his rookie season alone.
By his 5th season, he'll be making over $100M contract, or about $20M per year.
I'd take Kobe
gioperation 03-30-2003, 06:03 AM plus you get refractors and stuff the black and white bordered refractors and if you get a ming white refr, you can get well over 100+ for it
hot rookies
ming
stoudemire
me
butler- who long term might be better that ming/stoudemire
gooden
Jwill
and it is not that expensive either, I know the packs are selling for like $2.99 retail

Garycolemanx 03-30-2003, 07:29 PM thanks guys I am checking it out now, it also dpends how likley it is to get somthing good out of it.
stkmtimo 03-30-2003, 07:35 PM Where do you plan on buying it?
Tim
Garycolemanx 03-31-2003, 02:24 AM My freind works for a wholesale company and he will hook me up with a case os somthing for a tad less money then it ussualy would be.
Garycolemanx 03-31-2003, 02:57 AM I was also thinking of buying a case of either Upper Deck SP or SPX, do you think that would be good. Or do you think it's too risky.
j.e.lew 03-31-2003, 03:02 AM Upper deck IMO, is too risky, They flood the market, and alot of there product is just garbage. You dont see anyone talking about the sp or spx from several years ago... do ya!
Garycolemanx 03-31-2003, 05:25 AM good point I guess thats more of a short term profit, cause you can make some quick cash with SP and SPX.
jdfan123 03-31-2003, 06:56 AM chrome does seem lke the best long term value
stkmtimo 03-31-2003, 09:57 PM SPX is a fad, IMO.
Tim
Garycolemanx 04-01-2003, 02:30 AM Yes a fad that will make you lots of money though
Garycolemanx 04-01-2003, 02:51 AM Hey guys how smart is it to buy a couple of boxes of Ex 2000 year 96 of the Kobe Rookie. Is that risky to spend all that money and could end up with nothing. Let me know guys
lakerswiz 04-06-2003, 01:08 AM Reserve 02-03 UD Inspirations. 02-03 HHP, Chrome, Ultimate Collection, SP Game Used, UD CHampionship drive.
Adamscollectibles 05-07-2003, 03:41 PM Go with Upper Deck Ultimate, it's pricy, but worth it.

I wouldn't waste your money. Buy a box of 1999 SPX football.

I wouldn't spend your money on that. Right now it is VERY expensive and if you buy it you are most likely not going to get your money back.
Safest bet is to find a product that is not that expensive but still contains great cards.
mjblaze 06-02-2003, 09:14 AM Yeah, get stuff from the 1996 year; in my opinion, it was the best draft year EVER (condolences to 1984 and 1999). You've got Kobe Bryant, who is always a big seller; and if you don't get Kobe RCs, you'll end with consolation prizes like Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury, Ray Allen, Antoine Walker, and Steve Nash RCs.
