It's kind of stupid to make a claim like that with nothing to back it up in such a forum. At the same time, if Romney was up front about his tax returns, and anyone would defend this with something other than, "Oh yeah, name your source!" there would be no room for claims like this.

Blame everyone.

Pretty much. Harry Reid sucks though.

The thing is that Reid saying something stupid, factless and baseless like this still accomplishes a goal. Yes, most logical people will look deeper and see the truth, but there is an element of the voting public out there that will hear him say it and accept it as fact without ever considering that it might not be true. By him simply saying it they will take it as fact and use it as a basis for how to vote.

Just like telling people Obama is a Muslim or Obama was born in Kenya or Obama is a socialist or Obama wants to ruin America.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm just saying something about turnabout being fair play (which is also, ultimately, wrong, IMO).

This whole "release your tax returns" debacle can only have three possible explanations.

1) Romney has something to hide and will NOT release any more returns despite the political cost.

2) Romney is squeaky clean and is waiting until the last minute to release them and enjoy the bump that will come from saying "I told you so."

3) Romney can't decide which is worse; not releasing any more returns or, the details uncovered when he does.

Why are the democrats making such a big deal of this? Romney has disclosed 100% of what is required by law just as Obama has provided 100% of required information including birth certificate, college admission documents, college grades, relationshios with kown domestic terrorists etc. There is no indication Romney has broken any laws. He states he has paid what is required by law. There are no IRS leins etc. ENOUGH

So why are there still (I have no references, but my TV shows them) Republicans claiming Obama never showed his birth certificate? Why are there still many Republicans claiming he was born in Kenya?

ENOUGH

The easy solution is, if he has nothing to hide, for Romney to release his returns whether it's legally required or not. If he has nothing to hide and has done nothing wrong, then what's the problem?

I can say the same; why has Obama stonewalled for 4 years. If he has nothing to hide, why not disclose?

The problem is that having nothing to hide does not mean he should automatically release his tax returns. Has Obama gone back a decade and released his tax returns? I doubt it. It is nobody's business and has absolutely zero relevance to him being president.

The Obama birth certificate was relevant because a foreigner can not be president and there were legitimate questions about him. Tax returns from a decade a go are not relevant. If Romney truly didn't pay any taxes for a decade then I would imagine that by now the IRS would be involved. Since he isn't being investigated for tax fraud or tax evasion then he clearly paid his taxes and this all just comes off as a desperate attempt to find something...ANYTHING to try and distract the voters from the real issues of how little Obama has done to help this country and how unfulfilled all of his 08 campaign promises are.

Well, were he a Republican he would say, "National Security" and 90% of Americans would say, "Oh, okay". But you`re right, why not.

I think it's really funny how Conservatives use the "if you have nothing to hide" argument so often (usually talking about policing and "security") but can`t handle it when it`s put back to them.

I agree that this is irrelavant, but yes, Obama has.

I was curious as to when he released his tax returns...very interesting. Obama released his tax returns as ammunition in an attack on Hilary Clinton during the Democratic nomination process back in 2007-2008. So this is his status quo.

You want distraction? Obama has answered the questions regarding his birth. People still think he was born in Kenya.
