View Full Version : Why do Democrats Love Ryan?

Why do Wisconsin Democrats love Paul Ryan so much? I'm sure the main stream media will completely look past these facts.

First, if Ryan is an extremist and his proposals are so unpopular, how has he won election seven times in a Democratic district? His lowest share of the vote was 57 percent — in his first race. He routinely wins over two-thirds of the vote. When Obama swept the nation in 2008, he carried Ryan’s district by four points. But at the same time, Ryan won reelection with 65 percent of the vote, meaning that a fifth of Obama voters also voted for him.

Ryan has pointed out to me that no Republican has carried his district for president since Ronald Reagan in 1984. “I have held hundreds of town-hall meetings in my district explaining why we have to take bold reform steps, and I’ve found treating people like adults works,” he told me. “All those ads pushing elderly woman off the cliffs don’t work anymore if you lay out the problem.”

You realize I didn't write the article, correct?

Wow, I'm shocked that Democrats on this forum completely avoided the facts and dismissed the article. Completely shocked.

The facts are that Democrats in Wisconsin love Ryan and why Romney picked him.

Now the questioned avoided, that I'll repeat, why do so many Democrats love Paul Ryan? If he's a "right-wing extremest" that Liberals make him out to be, why do so so many vote for him?

Tough questions to answer directly, I'm sure. :)

I read the article and, like you, dismissed it as garbage for no real reason. But oh, I bet the site has a RSS feed so it's legitimate.
Sorry.

Yes, because every democrat came in and did that in the thirty minutes between your first post and your last post. Talk about needy.

I guess the original title was correct, smart Democrats should be worried. The rest will keep dismissing facts and base all arguments on emotion.

But I'm sure the brainy Joe Biden will do great in the debates. He'll tell everyone that he's middle class. :)

Coming from the guy with an avatar of a women getting hurt? Probably going to the hospital after that fall? But it's Republicans that have a war on women and the others make fun when they break a limb.

Oh and I know you didn't write the article, but I assume you read it before you made thread, complete with title and comment which were misleading at best.

Really? Your response is to attack the avatar? Sure got me.

Now you're just talking crazy and spouting Bull Dinky. I thought you were better than that.

Yes, I'm the first guy on the planet to post an article and point out two paragraphs off it. Sorry, silly me trying to emphasize specific points in an article. I'll start pointing that out every time someone posts an article. I'll ignore all the good points and facts and knit pick about the title. Thanks for setting me straight!

When you actually respond to my points, I'll respond to your points.

It's valid to think you get enjoyment at a women falling down a hole and likely getting injured seriously. You've had it since I've known you. Do you not get enjoyment from that women getting injured and taking a trip to the hospital?

Try to stop government funding for health care and you hate women. Having a women breaking a limb as an avatar for thousands to see and you support women.

What points? You didn't make any points. Heck you barely posted an opinion if it can even be counted as that (Which is actually more than usual for you). You posted an article. With that said, it's already been pointed out how misleading the title is, it isn't all democrats, it's Wisconsin democrats. When it comes to the Senate and the House, the majority of politicians get reelected. It's the reason why people get term after term while the national approval remains so low. Because the same people keep getting voted in for re-election and rarely anything ever changes.

Oh and by the way, I'd love to see the actual numbers of Democrats who voted for Ryan but the article doesn't even post those, it just makes broad statements like "But at the same time, Ryan won reelection with 65 percent of the vote, meaning that a fifth of Obama voters also voted for him." Pretty sure Republicans voted for Obama and Ryan last year too, that "fact" doesn't mean 65% of Democrats voted for Ryan or even 20%, heck the number is probably closer to 10%, but the article doesn't actually give any numbers.

It's valid to think you get enjoyment at a women falling down a hole and likely getting injured seriously. You've had it since I've known you. Do you not get enjoyment from that women getting injured and taking a trip to the hospital?

And before it was a Penguin slapping another Penguin into water, doesn't mean I hate Penguins. By your logic anyone who watches Tosh.0 or any other show predominately featuring viral videos of people hurting themselves hates whatever race/ethnicity/gender of the subject of the video they are laughing at. And it's there out of laziness, I haven't changed anything in my profile or signature in close to a decade.

Try to stop government funding for health care and you hate women. Having a women breaking a limb as an avatar for thousands to see and you support women.
And that's just speculation. You really are making some of the biggest reaches you have ever made right now. It's pretty silly.

Responses in bold.

Are there no independants in Wisconsin? Is it possible they like Obama and Ryan.

After looking at things a bit more a few things dawned on me.

1) It isn't even Wisconsin democrats, it's one district. Also in the article it says "First, if Ryan is an extremist and his proposals are so unpopular, how has he won election seven times in a Democratic district?"

When in actuality Obama winning the district is the first time a democrat has won the district in at least a decade. I could only find results dating back to 2000 and stopped looking when I realized Bush had won twice, showing just how full of crap the article really is.

Mike will you please just swallow your pride and admit that the article is a joke. There I posted responding to your "facts." YAY FACTS!

Because Wiconsin has a huge surplus, took on union labor and won, reformed pensions etc and low unemployment and its working. It is what America needs to succeed. Without these actions our country will fail and without a solid manufacturing base we will never rebuild or compete with China again.

Wrong guy. Someoneelse questioned your picking parts of the article. I'm the guy who said you claimed one thing in the title, another in your comment and the article was on a third topic.

Actually that is incorrect from the last I heard. Wisconsin originally had a surplus but that was all spent to a couple of contracts to help build a bypass around Milwaukee Zoo. They also continue to slash education budgets across the board even though they schools were supposed to save money by reducing all staff members salaries not once, but twice in some instances. They money saved from the budget cuts was supposed to reduce the chances of losing govt funding.... That is not happening. Walker also continues to push for a separate Madison/Milwaukee university districts. Allowing him turn his back on the rest of the campuses.

They did take on labor unions and won. There is no arguing that, they had a recall election to try and prove that point was not what the state needs(and still lost the recall). No arguing there, even though I was a swing vote.

And as far as unemployment goes, we are hurting in that area(according to most sources). Living in the state, I see a lot more jobs closing then opening(on a mass level). I have family in one area and I live in another. I get to keep track of a few non major cities. I also know that documents can be shown in both ways(as shown with the recall election).

Just needed to chime in there as a citizen of Wisconsin.
