What if all the teams shared the profits and all players were paid a base salary of $450K and would be paid performance bonuses based on their stats and how well the team does in the W-L column? Of course there would have to be compensation for injuries (i.e., Jeter's current injury).

It's already built into the system when players play harder in the last year of their contract. You can't deny that players don't think about the almighty dollar with their stats. Why not make it accepted practice than a hidden agenda?

they tried that with the XFL, but I think the games would improve and more people would play through BS injuries.

one last thing it would never happen, too much money on the table

If the money is managed by MLB rather than the teams, it could work. This would eliminate the lopsided budgets for the free agent market.

lol. I'd like to see Scott Boras face and that of A. Rod if that system were implemented.

Most teams have the ability to spend money during the free agent period but they choose to pocket the money for themself.

If Major League Baseball really wanted to help the current state of baseball they would put on a salary cap that would allow teams to spend only so much and force others to at least spend some money.

you know that would have worked say 15 years ago but not now no reason to discuss it
