Vladimir Guerrero has been an absolute rock since coming into the league. I've developed a little forumula for players and their related card values and I tells me that if Vlad stays on course his cards will jump to another level this year.
Yes, I take into account many factors including the market the player is in.
So what do you all think?
Do you like Vlad cards as much as I do?

I like Vladi as a player, but to really see movement in his cards, he has to get away from Montreal. Just think how much his cards would be worth if he played for someone like LA or NY?

Agreed. The only way his cards are going to go up is if he joins a more popular team. There are plenty of players that have had his talent but haven't been recognized please they play for a sucky team.

if yankees don't win it this year..I could see Steinbrenner opening the check book to add Vlad.
Perhaps the salary for the team will be jacked to $200M per year.
What a farce!!

Vlad could go to the Yankees but he has already stated he doesn't want to play with a big market team.
And there salary won't even come close to $200M even if they did sign him.
Wells
The Rocket
Mondesi
Ventura
Sterling Hitchcock
Will all be gone from the team next year. They are either retiring or going to play somewhere else. Those 5 guys take up over $25 million dollars so unless they are going to sign someone for $75 million dollars a year I don't see the payroll approaching $200 million.
It will probably be more around $100 million.

I agree that Vlad will not be in Montreal after this year. As long as MLB owns that team, they will not be able to afford the type of salary that Vlad is going to be wanting. He is worth it to IMO. I think he is a great player and if were to get with the right team such as the Yanks, Braves, or Giants he could be one of the elite in a few years.

Dodgers could use him; they once had him and his brother Wilton in their minor league farm system; they chose Wilton, and let Vlad go.
The rest, as they say, is history

I would love it if he came to the Giants. Cruz can move over to CF and you can put Guerrero in RF. Then both of my favorite players will be on the Giants!

As some of you might have heard, the Expo's are planning on switching locations for the 2004 season. It's either Portland, OR (I've been waiting for this moment) or Washington D.C. If Vlad sticks with 'em, he might get a little more attention in one of these locations. I know he would from me! (My favorite player, and I live in Hillsboro which is about 11 miles from Portland!)

BTW BGray, I am a big Vlad fan and would be interested in any GU/auto's of him you have to trade. LMK
