View Full Version : Rocco Baldelli A Good Investment
pwaldo 04-10-2003, 06:35 PM Do you guys see his cards going anywhere?
I know he plays on Tampa Bay but I have some rookies of him and he's off to a fast start.
Should I dump his cards now or wait it out?

What Baldelli cards do you have?

Neither of them are that big.
One is a Topps and the other is a Bowman.
podstock 04-10-2003, 07:50 PM Sell half the number of rookies you have and keep the other half.
That way, you don't lose too extremely if he becomes the next Joe Charbonneau or the next Tony Gwynn.
Never even heard of Badelli, fwiw.
leftyshan 04-10-2003, 07:58 PM pwaldo-
What are the numbers and years for those two?
stkmtimo 04-10-2003, 08:23 PM Baldelli will be great, IMO. Just went and see. Struck out 4 times to Roger Clemens, though. LOL

2000 Topps Traded #86
2000 Bowman Draft Picks #91
Why?
plunge 04-10-2003, 09:28 PM He's definitely worth it. Check out the comleted ebay auctions of the cards you have that are graded and not-graded. His graded rookie card is already out of my budget.

Holy cow! I just checked ebay and his cards are going crazy. I had looked up the cards in the book and they were a couple of dollars so I was thinking maybe down the line his cards would get hot. But there are already tons of people bidding for his stuff on ebay.
Now watch I'll go and get the cards graded and then while there grading them he gets hurt and then nobody wants his stuff anymore.
podstock 04-11-2003, 01:05 PM pwaldo...lol, much like that guy who had a BGS-10 Griffey card, and still wasn't accepting $9,200 offers.
wonder how he's feeling now.
That card is dead for at least 2-3 months
gioperation 04-11-2003, 05:45 PM rocco is suppose to be a stud as far all the info I have heard of him, they tampa is suppose to have the best young outfield in the league, beating out the twins outfield.
ACBaseball30 04-22-2003, 10:05 PM If I were you, I'd sell now. Baldelli's average has dropped recently from .400 to about .370. Also, he is described as a "low HR, high strikeout guy." Eventually, I believe he will be a Fantasy Stud, but for now, sell. His season average will be about .260 with 25 SB...sell now, buy this offseason.

Victory Sports 04-23-2003, 10:27 AM man acbaseball- it kills me how many AWESOME cards you have!
burrellmania05 04-23-2003, 02:16 PM i want whatever baldellis u have the guys goin to be big, the drays are the perfect place for young prospectsto start
ACBaseball30 04-23-2003, 03:18 PM Thanks Lost and Found, I think one of the keys to getting great cards is going to shows and scrounging around in the "cheap bins." A lot of dealers put numbered rookies cards of players in there they think will never pan out. Occasionally, some do.
burrellmania05 04-23-2003, 03:38 PM you are so right i found a raul ibanez rc worth 2.50 for .10 and a bowman kenndey rc worth 2 or something for .10 as well

If you directing that towards me.
I already sold both his cards. I decided to make some money now rather than risk it later.
stkmtimo 04-23-2003, 07:09 PM LOL, Lostandfound, do you have any thoughts on my offer for the hockey auto? lmk.
Tim
podstock 04-24-2003, 02:14 AM what amazes me is the amount of money either spent having the cards graded, or else buying them from folks
that's quite a bit of dough
