What is your opinion on the Dutch auctions on Ebay? Has anyone had any success from them? I have been a little bit cautious of them.
Thanks

Thanks Eaglecarr Stang81 07-18-2006, 06:18 PM I have never purchased one and probably never will. My view is that they are just a way for people to sell JUNK. They show a couple nice cards (if you check their auctions they probably use the same picture for every auction). Or people sell by weight or the amount of cards. (ie: 100 cards for $1.00 + $10 S/H) or something like that. Chances are it is just a bunch of common stuff that you will want to throw away. Maybe I am wrong, but this is just my opinion. I don't really think alot of people buy them. The seller might make 100 lots and they are lucky if 2 of them sell. Thanks Mike Ididntdoit8705 07-18-2006, 07:57 PM I've bought a total of probably 5 dutch auctions on ebay before. It's just one of those things I do every once in a while just because I cant pass it up. Someone has to get lucky of these those times. I cant remember one that I bought that I didnt at least get what I paid for. There were a couple times that I got more than i expected. Usually an $8 GU or a nice insert or something. Nothing to write in here about but I've never been completely disappointed anyway. But I agree with Stang81 - It's just a way to unload your crap. anthonyc 07-18-2006, 08:22 PM i did it 2 times...one time got a justin speier auto/125 and another a 87 topps bonds rc darthtampon 07-19-2006, 09:04 AM Stay away from these. The glory of mystery auctions is that you do not have to inform the buyer of what they are getting. I have done several sales of these on ebay but do not even believe they are worth selling. After you take into account shipping, ebay fee's, paypal fee's, packaging, and just general time to put them together it costs me more to sell them than I can make. And I just couldnt bring myself to send junk so it never worked out. Most sellers though I would be willing to bet never give out any of the cards they have pictured or probably even have any of the cards. Its just a quick way to get rid of junk and make a very small profit. |
