Hey there. I am resonably new in collecting cards, but I already have a lot, I am wondering how people organize them. I use to do it by team, but thats no good, I guess I should be doing it by card type and year? Do you put them in pages in a binder? Anyones input would be nice.
thanks for the help

Welcome to the boards Atl and I hope you enjoy your stay. If you ever need anything, just PM one of us Mods.

Back when I collected cardboard, I'd like to try to keep my cards organized either by player or by sets. When your collection gets so big though, I suggest just trying to keep them organized by sport. Binders are cool when your collection is still small, but if you have expensive cards, I really suggest at the least putting the cards in a soft sleeve and then a hard sleeve. Also, the hard screw down holders are a good secure way to keep your "money" cards.

thanks for the help... yeah, the binder thing is getting outta hand here. I am gonna need a library for them. I only collect baseball, so sorting by sport won't help all that much... thanks for all the advice... no one seems to want to help this poor girl... thanks again.

Welcome Atlantis! :D

I prefer to use 5000 count boxes. I'm not sure if you have enough to be using them or not. Of course its probably best to organinze them by sport, brand, year, and number but I normally only get to sport and brand.

Welcome to the board, Atlantis

I keep several 5000-count boxes of commons (cards of non-star players).

Then I have 5000-count boxes of stars, all placed in soft sleeves (you can buy 1800 soft sleeves on Ebay for $12, and that includes S&H, or less than a penny a sleeve).

Then, all my rookie cards of stars are placed in soft sleeves, which are then placed in top load top covers. Again, you can buy 1000 top loaders w/ 1000 soft sleeves for about $36-39 plus about $12 S&H on Ebay. I do the same for most cards of players I think will be Hall of Famers (Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, ; Roger Clemens, Maddux, Bonds, etc)

Atlantis-
Welcome to the board fellow Aquarian!! I use the 5,000 count boxes as well. It's easier to store them this way. Do you collect basketball?

no, actually, once I get things all together I may be selling some odd-ball basketball ones that I got here and there... but I collect baseball ones... its the only sport I really follow any more. SO, you are an Aquarius... when is your birthday?
