Hey.....here is an interesting topic that I think would make for some great conversation!!

Should the AL do away with the DH and make the pitchers hit?

OR

Should the NL adopt the DH and quit making the pitchers hit?

IMO...The NL should adopt the DH rule. Pitchers are just that...Pitchers! How many times have you seen a close game come down to a Pitcher hitting and they simply replace him with a Pinch Hitter?? I think the NL should look into adopting this rule and not making the pitchers hit anymore.

What do all of you think about this subject???

Yes it is a very good topic to discuss.

I had a thread about it in the Pro Sports Talk about a week ago.

IF YOU WANT TO DISCUSS THE DH PLEASE DISCUSS IT THERE. WE DON'T NEED MULTIPLE THREADS ABOUT THE SAME TOPIC

Sorry AreaOne, not trying to be rude with your thread but we don't need people to respond in here and there.

I like the DH. It prolongs the careers of some guys who no longer can play the field due to injury or inablility to field a ball. With no DH, Edgar Martinez would have retired years ago and that would have been a shame as he was one of the best pure hitters in the game. Just my opinion.

john is absolutely right. Not only did the DH rule help make Martinez a star, it also enabled Ellis Burks to keep playing even though he can clearly not play the field anymore. Brad Fullmer is another example. The can flat out hit but isn't a very good fielder.
Say a team has 4 good hitting OF'ers but obviously can only have 3. Put one in the DH spot and your lineup is that much stronger.
something that came to my mind was back in '97 and '98 when the Angels had Tim Salmon, Garrett Anderson, Jim Edmonds and Darin Erstad. I think Erstad played 1st though. not quite sure.
