There's no way in hell KG and Nesterovic are going to shut down The Diesel. And Kobe choking? I'm not even gonna reply to that one. LakeShow in 5 (just to be safe). I think you're referring to the 9 blocks against Dallas. All I have to say is.....Shawn Bradley. podstock 04-18-2003, 03:22 PM Dude, STEP AWAY from the bong before you post here. Kobe choking? I have 3 years worth of playoff games (1st round, 2nd round, West. Conference finals, NBA finals) on VHS. You want a copy of a particular game that Kobe "choked", tell me which game, and send me 3 blank videotapes --- 1 for copying it for you; 2 for my use. All you Timberwolves fans have are fantasies. There is no fact you have to back your thoughts up. For 6 consecutive years, you guys got wiped out in 1st round. Before you talk about MN beating the Lakers, at least advance to the 2nd round. This is the 7th consecutive year that you guys made the play-offs. This will be the 7th consecutive year that you guys are out once the 1st round is over. Kobe choking? Boy, that winter you guys had must have frozen your cerebral cells!! llcooljoe 04-18-2003, 03:30 PM ok what is the lakers rank and kobe choke with a wide open shot to beat the kings last year with jackson guarding him check the tapes and it didnt get that cold leftyshan 04-18-2003, 03:40 PM pod- Don't waste your time with this dreamer!! LOL IggyWH 04-21-2003, 06:10 AM Well, the only thing Kobe's choking after Sunday's game is his chicken after his 39 pt performance. It's good and all if Minnesota is your squad... but you also have to be realistic! stkmtimo 04-21-2003, 11:09 AM Kobe and Shaq will continue to dominate. Garnett can't move Shaq, let alone beat him and the Lakers. Tim llcooljoe 04-21-2003, 05:55 PM o we'll see he cant get his way everytime llcooljoe 04-23-2003, 12:21 AM ackkch cackckc choke they got smoked by the 35 point 20 reb game put up by kg now who is chokin the chicken stkmtimo 04-23-2003, 12:42 AM Wait to see what happens when my Nets win the NBA Championship. IggyWH 04-23-2003, 01:00 AM 1 game doesn't win a championship. You really think the Wolves are going to take one of these LA games? LOL podstock 04-24-2003, 07:41 PM Wolves in the NBA Finals --- hahahahahahahahaha. Sure, I can see NJ going to the Finals, they play in the East, where if you're in the play-offs, you have as good a chance as any team to get to the Finals. But Wolves? Wolves?!?! Wolves?!?? hahahahahahahahahha IggyWH 04-24-2003, 08:00 PM Originally posted by llcooljoe yep timberwolves are going to crush the lakers arent they Dude, I hate when people say give... it annoys the hell out of me... it's puff puff pass... Series is tied 1-1. You have to win 4. Wolves no longer have homecourt advantage. Lakers did what any team who does not have homecourt advantage do: they won 1 of 2 games. Any questions? podstock 04-25-2003, 02:36 AM TREMENDOUS game played by the Wolves. now up 2-1. Lakers had the entire OT to play against Wolves without Garnett, and still lost. Game over. Series over. leftyshan 04-25-2003, 02:47 AM Series over? Are you nuts? podstock 04-25-2003, 03:10 AM I am disgusted by the way the Lakers played. If you cannot win at home, in OT, with the other team's best and only weapon having fouled out in the first 12 seconds of OT, it's over. Lakers got torched in game 2; lost their composure in game 3, committing turnover after turnover, unable to get Shaq the ball. While I am a Lakers fan (have been all my life), I am a realist. I don't eat, sleep, and drink Lakers ball, devoid of life itself. All season, I was telling my buddies that the ****ty way the Lakers were playing meant nothing once play-offs rolled around. It's now on to game four, and they've played like sh*t in 2 of the 3 games. You can disguise sh*t in the form of Kobe dunks and Shaq slams, but you can't hide the smell. And right now, something smells rotten at Staples Center. And it's emanating from the 3-time World Champs. We need to reload this summer. This is disheartening; with a chance to make history, the Lakers are being man-handled by KG and Troy Hudson. Imagine what Bibby and Webber are going to do to the Lakers, assuming Lakers advance. The ride was fun; and while the Lakers aren't eliminated yet, the gas tank is running on empty, and you can't drive without gas. llcooljoe 04-26-2003, 11:27 AM podstock i've been trying to tell everyone that the twolves are going to win the series the whole time so i guess podstock you are the only person that agrees RickNashcollector 04-27-2003, 02:15 AM Wolves will beat the Lakers!!!! but no one can completly shut down SHAQ OR Kobe I say Kings and Nets in Finals I would like to see the Mavs and Nets KINGS will be Champs and you can stick that up your fat *** Shaq, and stop calling them the "Queens" Bibby is the man!!!!!!!!!! leftyshan 04-27-2003, 02:29 AM Game 4........LA by 10!!! podstock 04-27-2003, 04:31 AM here's hoping Lakers decide to play defense at the start of the game, and not wait to fall behind by 15 in 4th quarter to play defense. here's hoping Kobe shoots when he's open rather than passing it to another player. leftyshan 04-27-2003, 07:36 PM How's it feel Joe? Welcome to playoff basketball!!! podstock 04-28-2003, 06:50 PM well, it sure wasn't pretty..and if the Wolves had been more battle-tested, they'd have won. Was very surprised that Hudson wasn't playing almost all of 4th quarter, after all, he was 5-5 in 3-pointers all game. That 7 minutes of no-field goals was amazing. I'd have to say we got lucky with this win tonight. Had it been against Sacramento, we'd have gotten torched. Fox doesn't look like he's able to play Tuesday from that sprained ankle (MRI today)....so here's hoping Devean steps it up on the offensive end. His defense against Wally is just incredible. Wonder how Wally ever became an All-star the previous year, b/c this guy basically is a set shooter, and set shooters are pretty easy to defend. Boy, if KG just has one more superstar playing along side him, they'd start going deep into the play-offs llcooljoe 04-28-2003, 07:24 PM t wolves i think arent going to blow them out but i think they will win it in seven it is goin to go back and forth llcooljoe 04-28-2003, 07:26 PM i know ive put up a lot of stuff about the t wolves but the wolves arent gointo win it this year b/c the kings are goin to beat them but the twolves are goin to beat the lakers podstock 04-29-2003, 03:28 AM Joe, I love your enthusiasm. I lived in MN for 2 years, and during that time, always rooted for the Wolves, except when they played the Lakers. You know who's a great announcer? Kevin Harlan. I really liked it when he was doing the games there leftyshan 04-29-2003, 04:56 PM Tonight LA goes up 3-2!!! llcooljoe 04-29-2003, 05:58 PM nope kg is goin to have around 30 points and that is going to be enough to win the game 3-2 mn podstock 04-29-2003, 06:01 PM I certainly hope so; but if we're gonna win, can't have Kobe shooting 7-25. I seriously think Kobe has an injured shoulder (remember that missed dunk in game 2 where Rasho hit him in the upper arm region? Devean better step up and face-guard Wally. The key to stopping Wally is to make him dribble and shoot; that's when he's at his worst, much like Fox and Fisher. llcooljoe 04-29-2003, 06:43 PM i think kobe is goin to try to play and just hurt la because his shoulder he wont play his best podstock 04-29-2003, 09:13 PM well, today is do-or-die for the Wolves. If they lose this game, series is over. podstock 04-30-2003, 12:54 AM Lakers 120, Wolves 90 all I can say is wow!!! a combination of tremendous Lakers defense with poor Wolves offense execution, and the game was over in the 3rd quarter. One would think this game wakes up the champion Lakers, and keeps them motivated for game 6. But if they return to their form for this season, it will mean Wolves blow out Lakers, and we get a game 7. Devean stepped up big time, as he and Shaw combined to shackle Wally. Game 6 is Thursday at Staples at 7:30 I love the Wolves (esp. since I lived there for 2 years),...and it's sad to see KG basically playing all by himself. However, KG has no one else b/c of his ridiculous salary, which he's gotten ever since his rookie season. In fact, the 100M+ multi-year deal he signed right out of high school was a part of the reason for the salary cap rules. Garnett was being paid about $15-20M throughout his basketball career. It's now over $25M. Garnett is going to have to take a pay cut if he wants another superstar on the team. Shaq barely is making a bit over $20M. Why the Wolves paid Wally about 50-80M boggles my mind; b/c this guy has NOT improved one bit in past several years. He's a poor man's version of Reggie Miller, and can easily be defended. Boy, I was distraught after game 3; but now, the pendulum has swung to pure ecstasy!! leftyshan 04-30-2003, 01:36 AM pod- I told you not to doubt the Lakers. This series is over. Bring on San Antonio!!! podstock 04-30-2003, 03:54 AM Well, I certainly had my doubts. But, for some reason, starting in 4th quarter of game 4 and through game 5, shots no longer fell for the Wolves. And they stopped doing the pick-and-rolls And KG wasn't shooting it as often as before. Here's hoping Suns win game 6 and force game 7, triple or quadruple OT, even if Suns lose llcooljoe 04-30-2003, 05:30 PM ya u guys are right the t wolves did have a pitiful game and kobe had a sweet dunk but as pod said kg has to do all by himself but there still is a chance that the twolves will force a game 7 which i hope they win podstock 04-30-2003, 10:53 PM Joe...I think the Wolves made a HUGE mistake be re-signing Wally for that amount of money $63M. Many Minnesotans, including probably yourself, know that Wally is just your average NBA player. Wally can't dribble. Wally can't penetrate, stop, and score a basket. Wally's a bad defender, b/c he doesn't move his feet. And if you can get to Wally's head early in the ball game, you take him out of his game entirely. KG is the bomb!!!! He needs a Tim Duncan. And then you get the NBA title. Much like Shaq and Kobe have each other. Imagine Duncan, Garnett, and Hudson all on the same team -- now that's one hell of a triple threat. leftyshan 05-01-2003, 01:59 PM Note to KG.....Have your bags ready 'cuz you're going home tonight. podstock 05-01-2003, 02:25 PM lol. Normally, I'd agree 100% with you. But, after seeing Lakers play with such indifference this whole year, I wouldn't be surprise to see Lakers not play defense for the first 3 quarters, fall behind double digits heading into 4th quarter, and make a valiant rally attempt, only to lose the ball game. Remember, there's still game 7. So tonight isn't do-or-die. One would expect, after such a devastation in game 5, that the Lakers would come out tonight and just play total team defense for all 4 quarters, trying to snap the Wolves neck and end it now. But, more than likely, Lakers will allow KG and Hudson to shoot, to see if they'll miss. Only when Hudson goes 7-for-7 on three point attempts or when KG is 12-for-12 in field goals, will the Lakers then start actually contesting shots. I have thought, on many occasions this year, that I'd have no problem averaging 20 points against their defense. I love to play basketball. And if you don't defend me, I'll make most of my shots. My problem is when you're near me. You don't even have to play tough defense; you just have to be near me for me to miss many shots. With the Lakers, they leave shooters wide open. I am expecting the Lakers tonight to play their usual bullsh*t "ole" defense, where they just let the shooters a chance to shoot, without contesting shots. leftyshan 05-01-2003, 02:34 PM I believe they're gonna come out and try to end this early. San Antonio is in a dogfight with Phoenix and there's a possibility that series could go 7. My boys are definitely gonna need some rest to get Kobe's shoulder feeling better for the next series. I expect to see that killer instinct tonight. podstock 05-01-2003, 02:41 PM If Lakers will just contest those shots, and NOT allow Wolves to get into their comfort zone with the outside shots, it's an easy wire-to-wire victory, b/c the Wolves needed that game 4 or game 5 victory to stand any chance of winning the series. I cannot wait for the game to begin!!! Here's hoping the Suns extend it to game 7, and bring on a couple more overtimes!!!!! Did you see Sacramento totally dismantle Utah? Boy, it's gonna be one hell of a series if Kings and Lakers meet. Might get highest ever ratings for a Western Conference Finals Series. TNT must be drooling at that prospect. Now, if only Lakers can get by San Antonio, who beat them 4-0 this regular season. San Antonio has gotten more experience and athleticism this year than in past 3 years. leftyshan 05-01-2003, 02:48 PM San Antonio is gonna be a tough series. I love the way Parker has played this year and Stephen Jackson has come out of nowhere. However, they still have no answer for The Diesel. With Devean starting the Lakers get alot more athleticism. It helps that he is a solid defender. I think the wild card in the series is gonna be the play of Manu Ginobili. The Lakers can't afford to let him get off. I can't wait!!! podstock 05-01-2003, 03:01 PM Not worried about Manu; if he's going to be face to face with Kobe, that's 2 quick fouls and a seat on the bench in the first half. He guards Kobe well (almost as well as Kirilenkov of Utah). My worry is Rose and Parker. First, Fisher is too slow to guard Parker, who's so fast that even Pargo may not be able to keep up (Pargo's done an awesome job on Hudson with that baseline to baseline defense). Second, we need Madsen and Horry to block out Rose from the offensive rebound; not to mention contesting his outside shot; b/c he's got a nice stroke. I can guarantee you Rose should make 6-9 perimeter shots b/c Shaq won't guard him outside the paint. Duncan's had a horrible 4 games, shooting-wise, and the Spurs still took 4 straight. Imagine the damage Spurs will do if Duncan does just average. Lakers cannot have a let-up in the Spurs series. Gotta play them tough every quarter. I think, with the injury to Fox, that Devean is now the starter and Fox finishes out his career as a bench player. Which is how it should be; Fox has got about 15-20 good minutes a game left in him, but that's it. And in a couple of years, I see Pargo replacing Fisher as the starter. Rush needs to be more reliable with that outside shot; he definitely can shoot it from inside/outside. Besides Kobe, he's the only one who can create his own shot. Would be nice to see a team of Pargo and Kobe at guard, Devean and whoever at forwards (perhaps Howard? Malone? Keon Clark?), and Shaq. Should be a quicker, more athletic, better defensive team. Then bring in Pippen to shore up the bench. Pippen's headed here to close out his final years. He's still got a good 10-15 minutes in him a game. llcooljoe 05-01-2003, 05:23 PM i dont know if you can say duncan is playing bad any team(hoping twolves) playing them is going to have to watch out for him and it doesnt matter who wins this series the kings are going to win podstock 05-01-2003, 08:23 PM Joe...until the Kings beat the Lakers, they haven't done anything. For the past 3 years, they've lost to the Lakers. Sure, they've gotten better. But, they still haven't beaten the Lakers. As a matter of fact, despite the woeful year Lakers had, the series was still tied 2-2. Wouldn't the Kings be up 3-1 in regular season if they were that much better than the Lakers? If the best they could do in the regular season (which the Lakers don't care for, and played like they didn't give a darn) is go 2-2 with the Lakers, what makes you think the Kings will beat the Lakers in the Play-offs? Certainly, it's not homefield advantage. Lakers regularly beat Sacramento AT their place for the past 3 years. And where was game 7 being played last year in W. Conference Finals? Answer ---- Sacramento Wolves did a great job this year....but, they need another superstar. It ain't gonna be Wally. Next year in play-offs, another team (Kings, Spurs, Mavericks, etc) will do exactly to Wally what Lakers are doing now ----- guard him face to face, dare him to dribble drive, and shoot. Wally has not improved one bit on his game. He's a poor man's version of Reggie Miller. Give Wally open shot, and he'll make it. Force Wally to create his own shot, and you shut him down. Poor KG...he's basically playing by himself. llcooljoe 05-01-2003, 09:54 PM pod if your going by regular season series the lakers wouldnt stand a chance next round the spurs beat them 4-0 so they wont play the kings so stop looking at the regular season and just admit that the lakers arent going to win it this year podstock 05-02-2003, 02:22 AM lol. It's play-off time. Let the games unwind themselves. We will see very soon, who's the winner of the Lakers vs. Spurs. Game 1 is Monday night 6:30 PST Remember, it's the first team to 4 games. And, being up 2-1 in a 7 game series means you still have to win 2 more games. Ask KG and the Wolves. llcooljoe 05-03-2003, 12:52 PM yes the twolves are done for the season but next year lets hope he gets someone else that can help him stkmtimo 05-03-2003, 01:16 PM Good job Lakers. I thought the Timberwolves were going to beat the Lakers? The Nets will win it all! Tim |
