View Full Version : Question about Jake Delhomme
The Vikes 04-20-2003, 09:52 AM Can someone PLEASE tell me why his 2000 SP Authentic is going for $25.00? Is there something I'm missing? Didn't he struggle? Isn't Brooks their starter? I'm building the set, and do have the Delhomme, but I think I paid, maybe $3 for it.
BTW, Happy Easter!
stkmtimo 04-20-2003, 11:29 AM In my opinion, it's because of the demand for the cards and because he had the opportunity to become a quality QB and had some time at the helm when Brooks was injured.

Maybe it is going for so much because it is his only rookie card? I don't know haven't checked on the guy but when somebody only has 1 rookie card. It tends to sky rocket because of the supply and demand rule.
podstock 04-21-2003, 02:27 AM that's a great dilemma to have. Sell it if you can for $25. Talk about a nice return on your investment.
stkmtimo 04-21-2003, 09:36 AM Especially with a guy who could fall off the table and be released at any second. Take profits now.

podstock 04-21-2003, 08:16 PM Tim...exactly me thoughts!! In football, you are only an injury away from your cards going to zero.
Look at Ki Jana Carter
Bo Jackson
and I am sure there are many many more examples.
Football's the only game where you could suffer a career-ending injury on every play. It's pretty frightenning.

Or look at people like Jamal Anderson and Terrell Davis.
These guys cards were so hot in football and now both of them are retired.
stkmtimo 04-22-2003, 09:44 AM Actually, pwaldo, last I heard Terrell Davis is getting rehab on his knee injury and is walking around the locker room with crutches. He says he wants to make a comeback!

john1170 04-22-2003, 10:09 AM Jake Delhomme was signed by the Carolina Panthers to be their starting QB. That might be why there is an increase in interest in his card.
podstock 04-22-2003, 01:41 PM i would love to see Terrell Davis come back. That was just a terrible injury he suffered. and I want to see him get a chance to make his case for the Hall of fame with a few more years.

Tim,
I did not know that about Davis. Wish the best of luck to him but I don't see him regaining his dominance.
Anyways my point was that people in the NFL can have a career ending hit at any time. So they is always the risk for them to get seriously hurt more than a MLB or NBA player.
stkmtimo 04-22-2003, 04:39 PM I totally agree with you there. It's always a brush with an injury in the NFL. Here's a link to the article on Davis:

wdwain 04-24-2003, 02:45 AM Jake Delhomme to me could be a good QB when he gets more playing time.
stkmtimo 04-25-2003, 06:09 PM Sell this card, take profits while you can. Too many times these guys fall off the face of they Earth - along with their card values!

Have to agree here.
Take the profit now.
Look at all those people who held on to those Ryan Leaf rookie cards. Most of the time the player will be a dud. So your best chance is to make a profit while you can.
The Vikes 04-25-2003, 10:52 PM Ask and you'll shall receive. Thanks for all the imput. I had no idea he is the projected starter in Carolina. I thought Weinke, Peete etc would start. But, as I wrote, this is just one rookie in the 2000 SP Authentic set that I'm building, so I can't take my profits.
Thanks again, and see ya at the convention!
