I have a PSA 10 E. Smith rookie and a PSA 9 Ozzie Smith Rookie. Would ya'll sell these or hold on to them hoping they will go up in value????

what about the Jerry Rice rookie?

I'd keep the Ozzie Smith rookie -- b/c it's a pre-1980 card.

the Emmitt Smith card was produced in MASS quantities; however, since yours is a PSA 10, keep it unless someone offers you well over high book price.

btw, where's your Jerry Rice rookie?

I've got quite a few myself, but not graded. He's my favorite football player of all time.

I'd sell both cards now if you can get some good money for them.

E. Smith's cards I would have said to keep but now he is on the Cardinals. Nobody likes that team and some collectors may stop collecting him.

Ozzie on the other hand just went into the HOF not that long ago and his cards are hot because of it. Later on people may not care for Ozzie's cards because even great players like Nolan Ryan have seen a decrease in their cards after they retired.

good point on that, pwaldo....which is why it amazes me that the Griffey Jr 1989 UD rookie card still books at $80.

Are you kidding me?

I wouldn't even pay $40 for that card....why?

b/c if he's not going into the Hall, he's going to be just another player who played MLB.

I have no clue on why people are STILL buying that Griffey card.

I thought that he might do something this year and keep the card valuable but he got hurt again and he should just retire.

If I had that card I would have sold it a long time ago but if there is somebody that STILL hanging onto that card I would try and get whatever you can for it. Because in 3 years you will be kicking yourself when its only worth 1/5 of its current value.

I would buy a Griffey RC for no more than $6. I bought a pack of the 1989 UD lo series in an attempt to get his RC in 2000 at a card show. I busted it open, got nothing (the pack was $5), and at the time the Griffey was $100+. I see boxes going for $150+ on eBay! I wouldn't pay that for the box, even if I got a few Griffey RCs in it.

well, it does help that the Griffey UD rookie is #1, and was made the first card ever when UD debuted in 1989.

So, if there's a reason, that might be it.

Nah, I don't see that as being a big selling point. Maybe it makes the card a few bucks more or something but not that much so. Cause nobody even remembers what the first Fleer or Donruss card was so I doubt they would care for Upper Deck.
