View Full Version : ONE THREAD PER PLAYER/TEAM *Reminder*

This forum is designated for traders interested in collecting or trading individual players or teams.

Please post the players name with the team next to it or the team only in the thread title (not in all caps). We ask that you post the team name next to player threads as some names are common and are the same in different sports or teams. Also, keep in mind that there is only going to be one thread devoted to each individual player or team. Please refrain from creating multiple threads.

In the first post please simply type:

(Players name or Team) Trading thread.

Example:

(team title)Texas Rangers
(player title)Hank Blalock (Texas Rangers)

(post)Texas Rangers Trading Thread

From there make a new post with your trades or wants.

Thanks,

BGray

It's simple really.

Just search this forum for the player/team you collect: If a thread exists simply add to it, hijacking doesn't apply here as we are trying to have ONE thread for each player and team with members who collect them(Like a quik reference guide).

If the Player or Team you are searching for doesn't exist then create one.

Feel free to PM with any questions, or comments.
Thanks, Rich

How advantageous would it be to have the following:

Leave the individual player area, but make Subforums for each sport with all the teams listed!?
MLB
NFL
NBA
NHL- as interest increases

It seems like this would help organize the forums... wouldn't it?

I think you should remove it all together becuase not a whole lot of people follow the rules in this forum, and I think it would just be better to tell the player you want in the basketball/football/hockey/baseball trading forums.

I'm siding with your statement!
Even though it seems like a great idea to be able to search an organized area for what your trying to get rid of, or what your looking for that "Ain't" what's happening..lol

My thinking is make it more fool-proof, or dump it and let everyone post their wants in trading section.

Yeah, I'd agree that we should do away with it. Its very messy and nobody follows the one post per player rule.

I disagree. I think the best part of SCF is the team trading and this area better leads to team trades. I don't see a ton of duplicate threads so I don't think that's a huge problem. This area is sort of more for harder core traders, people looking for specific teams and players. It seems like most of the other trading forums have turned into selling forums or people who are only looking for GU and inserts and don't really care what team they are. I like finding people who want my 20 cards of Warrick Dunn or 300 Cubs cards, this forum does that better because the team and player specific wants don't get lost in the shuffle of the 100th post of, "Mom needs a new hip - selling everything."

I'd miss the player/team section if it went away.

i think it would be better if there was a single post where a mod would make it and modify.. make a list of all the teams and players that people collect and put their name next to the team name.. EX

Teams
MLB
White Sox - Tutall
Marlins - Sportsnut
Ranger - Molina

Players
Magglio Ordonez - Tutall
Carl Crawford - crawfordfan13

ETC... that way you could just send a PM with what you have

I would like subforums for the sports like baseball selling baseball trading and baseball buying instead of all 5,000 forums on one page.

We have them...Enjoy.
Lets make use of the new organization, and in many cases added info.
The Player/Team forums will only be as productive as the members make them. So lets make them great!!

my 2 cents agrees with tutall somewhat!!!...only difference is my way wont need a mod after installation is complete(well,it will need a mod to add players names only). But i think scf should have what the bench has 100% without a doubt....the reason being:
#1.very oragnized and on the home pages navigation(extremely useful)
#2.no multiple posts of one player
#3.No competition for that one sweet card(dd316 and i both want Will Clark)
#4.everything is through pm's
#5.No mods(:except there will be an area where members request their player for a mod to add to the rolodex)
#6.You wont have to read 15 pages and have 2nd dibbs on a card
I can go on and on......

i think it would be better if there was a single post where a mod would make it and modify.. make a list of all the teams and players that people collect and put their name next to the team name.. EX

Thank You for the information it's appreciated.

I agree Dannyboo, and do see the merits to their system.
Ours is just a bit more user interactive, and will only be as popular as the members usage. IF there were alot of people using this I would have created a quik list feature
EX) Joe garagiola: Me, you, Tom, Tim, Jerry, Rick, Rich & Tony all collect him.

There will only be one thread per here too, and dividing up the sports was a huge step in making sure that happens. Again IF people start using this, it will be modified, but currently we don't have the participation to warrant anything further than individual sports.

#1) It's Simple! The titles are a reference, and after everyone posts their Team/Player interests...Use the PM to communicate.

I think A SubForum of Haves is a good ideal,Just somewhere we could Maybe list all we have of that player or team for trade. And browse for who we want and need.Might be a bit too much.Just a thought

That is more for what personal web pages are for in my opinion.

in the player/team forums, you shoule expire posts that are xx weeks or 1 month old as its annoying having posts that are months old na djust clutters things,

That would defeat the whole purpose of having the forum. What good would it be to list the you collect a certain player if that thread is just gonna get deleted after a month, 2 months, ect ?
