View Full Version : Thoughts of certain players in Fantasy Baseball
moon6119 04-10-2007, 03:16 PM Just as the title states,I have some concerns about some players:
1)Is Dan Uggla worth keeping?Last year he played average in my opinion and this year he isnt looking so hot.I expected him to do a bit better this year since the hitting rotation is the same and to say the least, the marlins did a great job with what they had last year.Who would be a good alternative to him?
2)Who is a good utility man,so far I have rich aurilia as my main utility placeholder you might say because he plays every infield position.I drafted him because I would hope that he would return to him old form from when he played on the giants a few years back but he has been slumping quite a bit.He is batting barely over 300 but he isnt doing much besides that.He can't get any runs scored from that joke of a giants offense and can't get rbi's because no one can get on.It seems the only category he benefits me in is my batting average but he a bit of a streaky player(I am in a H2H league)Is it time to drop him and pick up someone else?
EDIT:You guys are misinterpreting what I am saying when I say utility. It means players who can play multiple positions like ty wiggington (OF,1B,2B,3B).EVERY I MEAN EVERY fantasy team needs to have 1 utility player for off days.I ended up dropping aurilia BTW and getting wigginton because he plays OF as well as infield positions.

I think you can find someone better than Aurilia as your Utility guy. Doesn't have to be someone who plays a lot of positions as you can put anyone in the utility spot.
As far as Uggla goes, it has only been one week. Be patient. If you really don't want him any more look on the free agent list. Get a guy like Orlando Hudson if he is still there. This guy is underrated.

When I mean utility, I mean that he plays many different positions. He plays every infield position. This is why someone like freddy sanchex is so valuable because he plays every position except 1st base, IF he replicated how he did last year.
sivjosh 04-10-2007, 07:22 PM Second base is top heavy this year. There are a bunch of options that are very similar to Uggla. In fact, someone in my league just dropped him today. If you aren't happy with him, you should shop him for a trade before you drop him.
If you have daily transactions, why don't you just leave an open roster spot? Drop Aurilia and pick up a guy at the position you need for that day.

There is a 1 day waiver period.
nman0808 04-10-2007, 09:36 PM I think that Orlando Hernandez and Adam Wainwright are both gonna have solid years. I picked up both of them off waivers in 2 of my leaques.. Wainwright is espicially valuabe because he plays RP.
I think Howie Kendrick is value pick as a utility, he can play 1st base and 2nd base.
Phathugo2467 04-14-2007, 08:40 AM Another good option for a utility player is Ty Wigginton in Tampa Bay. He plays all the outfield spots, first, and third. Plus he has been hitting very well this year. You should also consider jose batista from pittsburgh or perhaps kevin youkilis from boston.

I was about to pull the trigger to pick up wiggington last night.Only thing I am debating is aurilia's productivity.I would expect him to bat atleast .290 this year but that giants roster is crap.
Brodeur_fan666 04-14-2007, 06:31 PM well i'm not really into baseball but Scott Spiezio (Cards) is maybe a good utility player ... Brandon Inge of the Detroit Tigers is also a good utility player ! Well , it's only my opinion

Inge isn't utility.Spezio is but he doesn't play as much and his stats aren't good for a fantasy league.

You guys are misinterpretting what I said.I am saying utility as in able to play multiple positions.Example is ty wigginton who can play OF,1B,2B,3B or aurilia who can play all 4 infield positions.Someone such as Pujols would not be a utility player because he can only play 1B.
