First I had a Ryan Howard auto from 2006 Ultimate Upper Deck card was not produced so they sent me a replacement a Ken Griffey jr. not bad.Now I had a Tedy Bruschi auto numbered to 35 from 2006 Ultimate card not produced so they sent me 2004 Matt Schaub auto from Diamond Collection Pro sigs and a tom brady jersey card.The Schaub is not even numbered and I pay all that money for Ultimate and Upper Deck can't send acard from a high end product.Am i being to picky?thanks.Steve

You could always write them or call and complain. The last resort of the consumer.

call or write and say you want something else.

What needs to happen is that people need to stop buying the products with redemptions.

If the collectors don't buy it from the dealers, the dealers won't buy it from the wholesalers, and the wholesalers won't buy it from Upper Deck.

Each time someone buys more Upper Deck (on any company's) product after getting screwed, it tells that company that it doesn't matter how you treat the consumer.

And if nothing else, I might trade for the Schaub :)

what someone needs to do is remind them that upperdeck cannot release something they cannot garantee to be in a product, its called fraud and breech of promise/contract a few other things in the legal world. someone need to sue their buttocks and the would win no problem, after all if i promised to sell someone something then and then sent somethign else i would be hauled into court quicker than i could think

Here is part of a recent Email I received from Upper Deck when they no longer had my cards in stock.

"When we cannot replace your cards we do not offer something of comparable value due to legal issues in the past"

1. Amazing that Topps and Donruss have no legal issues with this.
2. Even more amazing is that they have no problems with substitutions when it is to their benefit. i.e. failed redemptions

Essentially a redemption card is an IOU for what is listed on the card. I dont understand how they continue to get away with it.

Eh i've been waiting since Xmas...of 05 for a redemption I pulled...05-06 SPX Flashback Fabrics Lebron James Auto jersey...they even used the card in Normal Upperdeck to advertise the products.
He is a UD Spokesman and they cant get a card of his made and sent to customers? Hell they even came out with 06-07 Flashback Fabrics auto jersey of Him before i've heard of anything about mine!

It's been 18 months since I sent in my Mike Williams 05 SPx auto/jsy redemption and still waiting....actually there were 4 redemptions from this set and so far 3 weren't produced.

they released a partial on that card due to lack of autos...I didn't get mine and still waiting for it...

This is what upper deck told me.

Unfortunately, Tedy decided not to return his cards. When this happens I strive to develop an exchange that provides value to the customer. In this instance I provided autos from Matt Schaub’s rookie year. This off season Matt was finally given the opportunity to start and his collectibles have been very hot. Since I understood there may be a great deal of Patriots fans waiting on these cards I did my best to also include a Brady Jersey card in the 10-15 range.

Again I apologize that we were unable to honor the original, but am more than confidant adequate value was provided.

I sent them a response and this is what they cam back with



I am the top of the line when it comes to redemption issues. If you would prefer another $40-50 card from Ultimate in exchange for the Schaub I am more than willing to accommodate. However, if you are looking for more value there is nothing else that will be done.

i sure hope this doesnt happen with my pujols...i spend $160 they'll probably send me a coco crisp ultiamte collection auto...i would be so pissed if they don't make the card mainly because it's an auto GU /25 of a superstar player from a high end product.

I've redeemed a 2007 SpX rookie auto of Ryan Braun some months ago. Nothing so far. These horror stories are making me nervous. I'll probably end up with a Neifi Perez auto.

It's bizarre to me that, if Upper Deck can't fulfill a promise, they don't attempt to keep their customers happy by giving you something of MORE value. Instead they hardly even attempt to give you EQUAL value.

And to the guy waiting on a LeBron jersey-auto, that really stinks. You can almost guarantee you won't get equal value if they send you a replacement.

If you are still not happy you can submit a complaint with the San Diego BBB online. They cover Carlsbad and it certainly gets UD's attention.

I've had both good and bad responses from UD redemptions. The good was when a card never made it to my mailbox I just called and said I never received it. Two days later it was back on the redemption page and was sent again. The bad was a box of Ultimate baseball that was supposed to have a minimum of a dual autograph "on average" instead had two $8 rookie autos. I wrote a letter and they sent my an explanation of their term "on average" and three base packs of Ovation baseball. I sent the packs back saying nicely that this is not a suitable replacement. I then spoke to somebody on the phone in customer service and explained the situation. Since I was patient and explained everything again, they actually sent me another whole box of Ultimate. Again, two rookies and no multiple auto. I just gave up after that and decided that it wasn't worth it for those cards.

i personally think that every time UD does it to someone, the person that did it gets a shot to the nads.

truly sucks to have that happen. i have only ever had redemptions go bad with fleer...hopefully in the future it wont happen...

ill take the hamels if ya wanna trade it
