so far ive pulled 2 of them and they both have damage. it looks like the foil background is off the card. is this a common problem?

Thats kind of a bad deal, someone should try to find a way to protect thicker cards like GU when they insert them directly into the pack, I find a number of them even have rounded edges. I would see if you can get a replacement or something.
