Maybe not 50 HRs, more like 25-30 but you can bet on a whole lot of doubles in the gap and hits like that. He has played well so far in Spring Training!!

well considering steinbrenner MADE over $100 mill on the deal through Japanese televisoin rights i say all he has to do is hit .280 and drive in 100 runs and the boss will be happy

I don't think he is going to live up to his expectations(spelling). Iggy is right hitting 50 home runs against Japenese pitchers is not saying that much.

I don't know if you can really gauge how people play in Japan as compared with the MLB... i mean, look at Soriano... he was decent in Japan... then he exploded last season in the majors. I think Ichiro made the adjustment better because he is a contact hitter, not the slugger Matsui is hyped up to be. Hopefully he'll be great and the Yankees will win the WS, but you never can tell.
