I went to the local hobby shop and pulled:
2006 donruss playoff prestige gridiron heritage antonio gates gu
But it is in absolutely terrible condition. Do you think they would refund me, what should i send it back with and how should i send it back?

The card shop shouldn't refund you. Send it back to Donruss. There should be an address on the pack to send it to. Just put it in an envelope with a note explaining the situation. Donruss will either send you a new Gates card or a replacement (if none are available).
