I have seen some breaks like that happen before. They actually are pretty cool. I know I would love to get into something like that, and I would definitely throw my money into that right away.

Think of it this way Tony. I've been on the site since January, and I haven't seen a case break yet. And we've gained a LOT of people since January. So who's to say we can't fill it up this time. Here's what could happen to breaks like that, that DON'T fill up all 30 slots.

If you have 10 slots filled, each person's money would go up if interested, and they could have 3 teams apiece then. Or if it is an odd number of teams (21 for example), then for all the teams that weren't chosen/randomly selected, all of the hits of those 9 unselected teams get chosen out of a hat as the break goes on. And once someone's name gets pulled out of the hat, it stays out of the hat until everyone receives one hit, and so forth.

If you have the patience to run something like this Tony, I guarantee you can find some willing spenders to put up the cash. I can think of a few guys off the top of my head that want to get in some breaks.

Total cost of under $450, and at least 18 hits. Tons of inserts, base, and serial numbered cards. You could do team slots for $17 each. I'm sure everyone would get a ton of cards and be happy with their break.

Just to make Tony think about it a little more, what if the price was an extra $3? Make it $20... Hopefully that makes him say yes!!

I'm sure Tony has something up his sleeves, just give him time. Don't push it lol. He already has a football one, and a hockey one set up, so I could only guess that there has to be a baseball one coming pretty soon!

But in my opinion, I would love to see a box or two of triple threads in there, along with a prime patches or donruss signature series, along with some of that 08 stuff listed above. Or maybe just a half case/full case of something that everyone likes....

Triple threads is expensive though, and you only get 12 cards out of it. (Only 2 hits)

But they're always nice hits. You rarely see a "BAD" box of Triple Threads. Plus it means two people get extra lucky since they'll get a really nice hit or two out of it. Then the rest of the low-mid end boxes balances it off since they have a lot more hits and cards but less nice hits. Thats just my take though..

OK, so you guys would prefer to do a mix of boxes? Most prefer a case/half case because of better chances to get case hits and less chance of box searching. Not that I would box search (which I don't), but I've sold many boxes, so things like case hits have a very good possiblity of being gone.

I would go with what the majority wants, I would just really prefer a box or a couple of UD Masterpieces because they are such beautiful cards and I am looking to complete that set.

I'd be down for a group break. It's a better vaule than spending more money on your own single box and getting something you don't want.

Because of it's popularity, I was eyeballing 2008 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects in December for a Group Break...but I am quite flexible...

If I had a choice I would probably do a mixed box group break. Here's my formal proposal.

Same style as the Gridiron Gear Football one going on right now, except with 1 less slot due to there being 30 teams rather then 32, and mixed boxes rather then a case or half case of something. I would want there to be a nice mix of quality and quantity at the same time.

1 Box of 2008 Topps Triple Threads Baseball - 2 NICE hits, would make 2 guys very very happy.
1 Box of 2008 Topps M&M - 2 "HITS" but tons of S/N and parallels to make this a good group break box
1 Box of 2008 SP Legendary Cuts - 4 Guaranteed GU, plus a shot at a really nice auto or cut auto
2 Boxes of 2008 Topps A&G - At LEAST 4 Hits out of this, sometimes more, this stuff is really nice, and everyone seems to love it
1 Box of 2008 Donruss Threads - 2 guaranteed autos, PLUS 2 more gu/autos, we should definitely get a box or two of this stuff before the price shoots up.
1 Box of 2008 Topps Co-Signers - 2 Autos, plus that 1 dual auto, and many parallels for a pretty cheap price
1 Box of 2008 SPx - 10 Hits thats your quantity right there.


Add that all up, and that'd perfectly fit right in the $45-50 range per person, with at LEAST 29 GUARANTEED GU/Patches/Autos, with likelihood that there would be around 30 or 31. For $45-50 a slot (depending on your distributor Tony), I would love to put my money on that.


Feel free to agree or disagree with me on the boxes or whatever, I'd just like to see everyone's opinion!

The issue with some of those boxes is that it's not all baseball players. SP Legendary Cuts has inserts of Presidents for instance. Topps A&G is only 2/3 baseball players. Topps Co-Signers has a boxing auto.

So how would we divide those up?

Easy. At first I was going to say how about you just put everybody's name into a hat, and when a non-baseball hit comes up, just pick a name out of the hat and then leave his name out of the hat for the next one, until everyone gets 1 non-baseball hit or until there are none of them left. OR you could do it this way which actually sounds better.

How about you just go in reverse order of the draft of the secondary teams. So whoever gets the last team that nobody wanted, gets the first non-baseball card to come up. That way it balances out. I actually like that idea a lot.

I like matts idea above! Although, we could add a box of the new razor cards because it.yields 10 autos per box and is pretty cheap (100 dollars??) which would be less then 4 dollars per person.

Alright, I'm pretty excited for this Legendary Cuts break your mentioning.... What you think of these two Group Break ideas (Copyright Matt Mandile 2009)

1. An Assorted Box, Random Pack Group Break.... Here's how it would go. You take X amount of boxes. Some being lower end, some being mid-end, and a small amount of high end boxes..... Then it would work out like this. Add up the total cash amount of all the chosen boxes, and divide it by the amount of total packs of the X amount of boxes. Then whatever shipping may be, add that per SLOT to get the slot price. Then either before-hand (preferrably on video), or the day of the break on the streamed video, randomize each slot to a designated pack. For instance, say between the 5 boxes at a total of $380, and there were 40 packs it would be like a price of $10 each slot (including shipping). So the guys who get assigned to the packs with the hits in them would win in the end, and then whoever got pre-assigned the packs of the high-end box/boxes would definitely be off to a good start. So say, there is a box of Triple Threads in there, which would make a great box for this format. Two very lucky people would get assigned to either triple threads pack 1 or 2 before the break even started.

Here's a very SMALL example of it that works out with even numbers perfectly. Say the two boxes involved were Moments & Milestones, and Triple Threads. According to blowoutcards, $55 for M&M, and $135 for TTT. So that's $190 in boxes, and 20 packs/slots. $9.50 a pack before shipping, so maybe $11 a slot. After all the slots are filled, yet before the break happens, assign each slot a box pack #.


1. M&M Pack 6
2. M&M Pack 15
3. M&M Pack 2
4. M&M Pack 18
5. TTT Pack 2
6. M&M Pack 9
7. M&M Pack 11

and so on.....

Then just break the boxes in pack order, keeping track of what each pack had inside of it. Then each slot gets their assigned pack and all their contents. Maybe put a slot cap on it too, like a 4 or 5 slot max depending on how many slots there are! Should make for an awesome break though.


I think this would make for an awesome group break. If you would want help in any way Tony, let me know and I'll be sure to help in any way that I can or that you need..... I think I'll hold off on my other Group Break idea for now, because I like this one so much, but if you don't like it I can always suggest my other idea!
