the end is here, it is a sad day for lakers fans...don't cry to much guys and gals. who thinks the spurs will be the champs now, but I don't think they will get past the mav's, but it looks like it might be an all Texas western finals.

Well since I hate all West teams except LA, I guess I gotta cheer for someone in the East. I guess I'll go with the 76'ers ince they'll have to comeback now!

LOL, that is pretty funny. But who the hell can say that Parker is not a good player?

gioperation

me, I didn't say he is not good esp. to be 20 but he looks like he is gay. and I don't like anyone on the spurs, I think they are all gay, esp. mr robinson who has had the same haircut since he was drafted. It is like a team w/o any personality.

they should start a new reality show, mr no personality.

LOL! Agree on your views on parker. Anyway, those Laker babies have to learn to stop crying and to take losing like a man. Let's go Nets. K-Mart ain't goin' bankrupt this time :)

ahhhh...relief at last.

all good things must come to an end.

no more stress, no more anxiety, no more angst.

Lakers had a good run for 3 years.

They treated this year like sh*t, and got it shoved right in their face.

Time to re-tool.

IggyWH
05-16-2003, 01:46 AM
Yes, re-tool by getting some of those tools off the team and bringing in people who deserve to play on a championship team!

I disagree there, Iggy.

Horry has been very good for us, and he deserved the chance to fail.

We can't be like the Bulls and cast folks off without the chance to allow them to defend what they've earned.

Now, it's time to sign Horry to a much cheaper contract, put Fisher and Fox on the bench. And find a power forward, perhaps Juwan Howard.

IggyWH
05-16-2003, 01:55 AM
I have no problem with Horry at all... I actually like him a lot but he isn't a 4. He needs to play a constant 3 with someone who's better at hitting open looks than Fisher and someone to bump uglies underneath with Shaq.

podstock
05-16-2003, 02:53 AM
Iggy..exactly! Horry was badly overmatched by Duncan, and hence got burned.

Sort of like playing Shawn Bradley vs Shaq.

You need a bigger body and more of an offensive force, like Juwan Howard. Horry is definitely more of 3; and he's only going to give 15-20 good minutes at this point in his career. You can't be playing him 35+ minutes, which was what happened when Fox went down with the peroneal tendon tear.

I'd love to see Spurs v. Mavs in the West. It's pretty much the NBA Finals!

Although I'd love to see my Mavs go all the way I think the Spurs match up better and would probably take them.

I'd love to see Sacramento in the Finals. I had hoped they would make it last year until they got romped by LA.

It looks like the Kings will get past the Mavs. I thought the Kings were done after they lost Webber but they have put up a very very good fight.

BTW plunge if you don't mind me asking what did you get at the store?

I would rather see the mav's play the spurs since both team are pretty much healthy and the kings who I like are not healthy, or have webber out.

Doesn't really matter if its the Kings or Mavs cause I think the Spurs clinched the title after they took down the Lakers.

Horry and Shaw both said they don't expect to be invited back next year... I think Horry should be on the team and hell even Shaw did decent in his backup role.

podstock
05-16-2003, 04:18 PM
I believe Horry and Shaw make fine bench players. the 11th-12th men on the bench really don't do much anyways.

Will Horry take a huge paycut to stay (remember that he as a mentally retarded daughter who needs lots of medical attention, so Horry might want to squeeze as many millions as he can get).

Shaw is good for 10-12 minutes, and as emergency backup.

Both should return; but Horry will NOT get anywhere close to that $5.3M option extension

The Lakers dynasty is ending. The teams from New Jersey and New York will be taking over. Too much young talent over here for the west coast teams to compete. East coast will dominate!

Tim

gioperation

the dynasty ended just like the word said die-nasty and was how they played and in this slang usage "nasty" doesn't mean good.

IggyWH
05-17-2003, 01:55 AM
A dynasty doesn't end with one loss... we'll find out if they are a dynasty now by how quickly they bounce back.

Iggy, agree with you. Lakers got fat, got arrogant, and got sh*t shoved in their face.

Let's see how they respond next year.

As for what Tim said, it's laughable if he thinks the East is better than the West. lolol

Do you know what the East record vs Western teams were this year?

I don't know exact figure, but the west won more vs the East.

i would really like to see sacramento come out of the west. they have had a great team the last couple years but they just didnt have enough to get past the lakers

well, mitch kupchak, GM of Lakers, really hasn't done much to add to the roster.

The Lakers 3 titles were solely due to the wonderful work of Jerry West.

In the last 3 years, Kupchak has added Pargo, Kareem Rush, Tracy Murray, Mark Madsen ----- not exactly superstars and they certainly didn't do much to help.

Heck, Murray wasn't even on the roster for playoffs

stkmtimo
05-17-2003, 03:31 PM
I agree, but disagree about Madsen. Madsen is a great bench player and can really be a star in the future coming off the bench. Tracy Murray is getting too old.

Tim

IggyWH
05-17-2003, 04:47 PM
Murray should have been on the playoff roster though and LA would have been able to actually give people a rest with the injuries to Fox and George if Murray was part of the playoff roster... tell me, why the hell did you need Kareem? Bad decision IMO.

podstock
05-17-2003, 05:02 PM
Kareem Rush will be a good addition to Kobe in the near future.

He's just too raw. Remember, he came out after his junior season.

And Phil never played him enough to allow Rush to get acclimated.

Only one rookie has ever made a TREMENDOUS impact in NBA history during his rookie year, and that was Magic Johnson, who came out of Michigan St. after sophomore season and winning the NCAA title, helped guide the Lakers to the NBA Finals, then had that magnificient Game 6 vs the Sixers with Kareem out due to ankle sprain.

Every other rookie, and that includes Jordan and Bird, has never gotten anywhere near what Magic did.

Even Stoudamire, fresh out of high school, had a pretty good play-offs....but Duncan took him to school in the last two games.

As for Madsen --- he's your typical average NBA player with a lot of hustle and heart..but he will never gain superstar status.

I love Madsen, and I believe he will be back next year, with Lakers signing him to a new contract. Shaq likes him, Phil likes him

Can't get better endorsement than that.

stkmtimo
05-17-2003, 05:35 PM
Yeah, and Madsen plays with heart which is something many guys don't do like you said. One of the main reasons I like him.
