View Full Version : A new Driver
Dumb Bald Guy 11-25-2006, 07:43 AM After a lengthy one-sided conversation with my wife while she was watching the latest TIVO'ed episode of her favorite Soap, where she just pretended to listen, (AKA she doesnt care..lol). I have decided to add another driver to my collection. It seems as if Mikey will not be in 07 either. I am very disappointed. At the first thuoght of this idea my stomach turned, as i have been faithful to Mikey for as long as i have been collecting. Do i go with a rookie and watch him flourish(Hamlin) and take the risk of him being a bust(McFarland) or do i go with an established driver with alot of cards out there? I really dont know...
So I am asking everyone to Pitch their Favorite Driver and help me make a decision
nadeau01_johnson48 11-25-2006, 10:26 AM I think Hamlin would be kind of a bad idea, b/c he books so high...therefore, it would really be tough to put a real nice collection together of him. Your best bet (IMO), would be to go after a younger driver, whose stuff doesn't sell rediculously high, and start from there. (Example, a guy like Casey Mears....although he's one of my guys I collect, so you can't have him...LOL!)
HokieHarvickFan 11-25-2006, 12:42 PM Yeah I agree with above^^^
Hamlin, Jr., JJ, Gordon, Kahne etc...are very hard to get cards for unless you have the money to spend.
Dumb Bald Guy 11-25-2006, 01:10 PM yeah, Hamlin and Kahne are a bit pricey. I tend to stay away from the hendrick drivers, though I am starting to like Vickers a bit since he ticked off Gordon plus he is leaving hendrick...lol. i think its down to vickers bowyer and riggs. but i can only be one. i cant afford all three..
nadeau01_johnson48 11-25-2006, 01:19 PM Riggs would be a GREAT choice, IMO out of those three.
Bowyer: VERY Bright future, already a bit pricey.
Vickers: Going to Red Bull, I just don't see him being a contender what-so-ever. (Plus, Vickers has quite a few high end cards out there...Sig Series, Triple Burners, etc.)
Riggs: Another bright future, cards are fairly cheap, and he's a nice guy. Again, just IMO, he's the best choice of the three.

Go with Vickers! Go with Vickers! Go with Vickers! :becky:
Shayne1911 11-25-2006, 03:22 PM Scott Riggs would be a good choice. I think he's a pretty good driver and will continue to get better.
lmich391 11-25-2006, 04:17 PM Hello,
I am going to pick a driver to collect. What other driver do you watch during the race other than Mikey? If you think about it you most likely follow a different driver and collect his cards. If you do not follow one driver and tend to pull for different drivers than I would consider set building. Those are my thoughts.
Michael
Dumb Bald Guy 11-25-2006, 04:24 PM well ive given it some more thought.
thanks everyone for your input.
i figure all season the most bent i was..
when scott riggs couldnt get his lap back at the allstar race. well that and when someone else caused mikey to wreck every single week..lol
so im gonna go with riggs.
lol here is the best part.
i am getting ready to mail out my bestest riggs card on monday in a trade i made...lol
what a dunce
thx
brendan
p.s.
look at the cute kid over there on the left
kahnefan 11-25-2006, 05:21 PM sorenson, bowyer, newman, riggs, harvick, sadler, b.labonte
good driver with out the bv price....bowyers getting up there to..also you could go with a busch driver i would say CASEY ATWOOD is a very very very good choice lol....
go junebug 88 11-25-2006, 05:27 PM I have decided to go with Truex Jr. I think he shows a lot of promise, he's got a great teammate, and he's finishes have been getting better throughout the year. His stuff is still pretty cheap.
He'll win that first race next year! MARK MY WORDS!.. lol
realricrod 11-25-2006, 10:51 PM I think Riggs is a great one for you, not too much $$$$ and he has had a couple of good runs this season....

i was thinkin a little about truex, but i spent the entire season calling him "Junior's personal little Mini-Me" and i would nevenr have heard the end of it from my wife
stlmkiiisupra 11-26-2006, 10:57 AM Go with Riggs, and I can help you get started with some good Riggs cards in addition to the trade we are working right now. Look at my page, and see what you want to add, I also have a RU and AU.
I had the same problem really, with no new Mikey cards, so I've added Reutimann to my collection, and look forward to seeing what comes out. I don't expect much though. I'll keep my Said stuff, but I've dropped Menard and I think I'll be dropping Lester too.
Ryan
Lord Vader 11-26-2006, 11:07 AM Riggs is a good choice.
