Hey guys and gals,
Once everyone busts their box(es) of 2007 Press Pass, could you please make a nice, orderly post showing what you got out of your boxes. Also, if possible, provide a scan of the best card you pulled? If you need help posting scans, PM anyone on the STC Racing team and we will try to help. Also please make sure to put how you felt about this product, quality of cards, pull ratios, looks, etc., good or bad post it and be honest.

When reviewing a product that you have personally opened, try to include....
**The name, brand, and year of the product
**Listed inserts and odds of pulling
**Number of packs per box and number of cards per pack
**Your assessment of how your actual pulls were versus how the odds say you should have pulled
**Also note if you were able to complete a base or insert set or how close you got to a complete set
**Your opinion of the quality of cards, quality of packaging, collation, etc, etc, anything a collector would be interested in before investing in this product
Thanks for your input!!

Thanks
STC Racing Team

Guess I'll start this one off. I got one box to start the 2007 season off. Here's a break down of the pulls from my box.

2007 Press Pass
28 Packs per Hobby Box, 6 cards per pack = 168 Total cards due per box
Actual Pulls - 114 base cards (no duplicates, 95% complete base set), 54 parallel/insert cards

Listed inserts and odds of pulling:

“0” card (1:???) - No cards pulled

Autograph (1:84) – No cards pulled

Blue Foil ~ 120 card parallel set (1:1) - 28 cards pulled, no duplicates

Burning Rubber - Gold & Silver Foils (1:112) – No cards pulled

Cup Chase ~ 18 card insert set (1:28) - 1 card pulled

Platinum ~ 120 card parallel set (1:???) - 3 cards pulled

Race Day ~ 12 card insert set (1:6) - 5 cards pulled

Santa Card (1:72) – No card pulled

Snap Shots ~ 36 card insert set (1: 2) - 14 cards pulled, no duplicates

Velocity ~ 9 card insert set (1:12) - 3 cards pulled

Over all a nice start to the 2007 season. I liked seeing some of the new up and comers, several new drivers in the release. The odds looked pretty right on for an average box (no great pulls for me), and a little over on a couple of expected ratios (3 Velocity’s, 5 Race Day’s). My big disappointment was that I didn’t get any Harvick cards for my collection except for base cards. Will need to get all of them through trades now!!!

I did not pull any of the race used or autographs so there is nothing to discuss about them.

Cup Chase ~ Same old, same old as far as a foil (holofoil) looking card goes… but the background with the grandstands and the car on the track is kind cool idea.

Race Day ~ Nice card… only bad feature… don’t like that they have same pic on the front and the back!!!

Snap Shots ~ I like the new design with full size cards with rounded corners. Another good design with a bulletin board view.

Velocity ~ Nice design… I didn’t like it too much at first… sort of growing on me now, lol.

Blue Foil parallels ~ Ok I guess… I like the different color foils… just hope this doesn’t mean another different foil for retail as well. Last years was a bugger trying to chase them all down. And I still don’t have all my blues and gold from the 2006 release!

I like the Platinum cards as they would be SUPER to use for TTM’s since they are NOT glossy. Only bad part… who wants to use a card serial numbered to 100 for TTM’s ??? Why not make a parallel set with no gloss coating on the front and they can be used for TTM’S??? That would be awesome and we could cut out one of the different foil colors. That would make me happy!!! :becky:

My rants… STOP putting the “Legends” cards in the regular product releases. Put the "Legends" drivers in the LEGENDS release where they belong!!!

My overall product rating based on the card designs, pull ratios, etc. is:
3.75 out of 5 stars

My rating based on MY box pulls are:
3 out of 5 stars (didn’t get any cards of my driver and no star pulls)

OK.. who's up next ???

Santa Card (1:72) – 1 card pulled

Snap Shots ~ 36 card insert set (1: 2) - 14 cards pulled, no duplicates

Velocity ~ 9 card insert set (1:12) - 3 cards pulled

Cup Chase - Sharp looking card

Race Day ~ Didnt really care for the card

Snap Shots ~ Like that is full size too.. not a bad looking card

Velocity ~ OK

Blue Foil parallels ~ I am not a big fan of more then one level of parallel

I guess I have gotten used to pulling more...
Being xmas could really only justify one box and ended up splitting it with the wifey. only ended up with one scott riggs base card. she however got 4 different each of Jr. Truex and Bowyer.

My overall product rating based on the card designs, pull ratios, etc. is:
2.5 out of 5 stars

My rating based on MY box pulls are:
2.5 out of 5 stars - got a few tradable rookies, nothing else notable trade wise

ok here are my two boxes.

00 card (2) 1 in each box
santa card 1

blues (56) 2 doubles

platinums 3

cup chase (2) both kurt busch

snapshots (27) 0 doubles

race day (10) 0 doubles

velocity (5) 0 doubles

autographs 0

race used burning rubber (1) kasey kahne 54/75 brd4 texas win

now the skinny
the snapshots are the best ever. full sized cards i like them alot
race days are also great, better than the game face cards
velocity are awsome, best to date
platinums are non glossy (???? don't know why)

again why are there legends in this set?

i think overall it is one of press pass regular's best set to date. i give it a 4.5 out of 5

I WILL LIST WHAT IS FOR TRADE AND WHAT I NEED SOON.

Ok..I will post my pulls later but it seems I am the only one to pull an autograph so far...well as great as that may seem I am a little disappointed. I didn't pay much attention to it at first cause I wanted to finish opening the packs but my first impression was that looks just like last years autographs. Later in the evening I looked closer and low and hehold it is last years autograph card...right on the front 2006 Press Pass Autographs Matt Kenseth. I am kinda ticked on that part but as I said I will post more later but thought I would get that out there and see if anyone has any suggestions or if anyone else has the same problem.

I will post later as well as just finished opening 10 boxes and not all sorted yet. But wanted to comment on an auto I got. A 2005 pp signings of Harvick. What is the deal? Only reason I really noticed was got 2 reg 07 ones also and wondered what the difference was. Boo to old autos in new releases!

Press Pass® 2007 to feature first NEXTEL Cup Rookie Cards of Press Pass® 2007 to feature first NEXTEL Cup Rookie Cards of

Juan Pablo Montoya

Charlotte, N.C. - Press Pass 2007 provides collectors and fans with an in-depth look into the nationwide phenomena known as NASCAR. In addition to being the most comprehensive set of the year, Press Pass 2007 will be offering collectors the chance to get international driving sensation Juan Pablo Montoya's first official NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series rookie trading cards.

Montoya, the 30-year old Columbian native, joins the Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates organization to compete in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in 2007. "He will become the first Formula One driver in the 58-year history of NASCAR to compete on the circuit full time and will be running for the 2007 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Rookie-of-the-Year title," stated Tom Farrell, Director of Marketing for Press Pass. "Collectors will find Montoya in the 2007 Preview subset and his card will carry the official Cup Rookie Card (CRC) logo designation," Farrell added. With impressive open-wheel credentials, Montoya has made 137 starts between the CART, IndyCar, and Formula One Series where he's tallied 18 wins, 26 poles, 60 top-five and 79 top-10 finishes. Over his five competitive seasons in Formula One, Montoya has always finished sixth or better in the standings.

Other late additions to Press Pass 2007 include authentic autographed press plates taken from the actual press run for Press Pass Autograph program that are signed by the drivers. Collectors will also find vintage pre-2007 autographs from all of the drivers who competed in the 2006 Chase for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Championship including Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Gordon, and Kasey Kahne. Press Pass 2007 is scheduled for a December 6, 2006 release.

I didn't get any race used or autographs, but got a lot of great cards. I received:
Santa Card
#00 Chase to the Cup
14 Snapshots (included Martin, Kahne, Johnson)
Cup Chase Jamie McMurray
Velocity (Hamlin, Johnson)
(28 Blue parallels -- notable cards: B5, B98 (Hamlin), B3 and B34 (Harvick), B35 and B82 (Edwards), B56, Dale Jr, B101 and B117 (Kahne), B100 and B116 (Gordon), B95 Kenseth
Platinum Marvin Panch (#57/100)
Platinum Kasey Kahne (#6/100)
(5) Race Day inserts (Kahne, Hamlin,Harvick, Burton, Labonte)

(None are for trade just yet)

Nothing against retired drivers, but I really would rather see them only in the Legends set like some others had stated. The quality of the cards to me is the same ole same ole with some fresher designs. The photos seem better...where else can you have a pic of Kurt Busch doing the snow angel on a card...hilarious! A big thumbs up to making the snap shots inserts a normal size too. I like them for the most part. ...and do we really need parallel cards? Why not just have the Platinums and get rid of the hobby Blue and retail gold and add more memorabilia cards or another insert set or two. That's all I have, but overall I am pleased with the product.

Ok guys and gals here is what I got:

2007 Press Pass
28 Packs per Hobby Box, 6 cards per pack = 168 Total cards due per box
Actual Pulls - 115 base cards (no duplicates, 95% complete base set), 53 parallel/insert cards

Listed inserts and odds of pulling:

“0” card (1:???) - 1

Autograph (1:84) – 1 (2006 Press Pass Autographs Matt Kenseth  )

Blue Foil ~ 120 card parallel set (1:1) - 29 cards pulled, no duplicates

Burning Rubber - Gold & Silver Foils (1:112) – No cards pulled

Cup Chase ~ 18 card insert set (1:28) - 1 (Matt Kenseth)

Platinum ~ 120 card parallel set (1:???) - 2 cards pulled (both Todd Kluever)

Race Day ~ 12 card insert set (1:6) - 4 cards pulled

Santa Card (1:72) – 1

Snap Shots ~ 36 card insert set (1: 2) - 14 cards pulled, no duplicates

Velocity ~ 9 card insert set (1:12) - 2 cards pulled

I liked the card design and photos better than last years. I also liked the full size Snapshot cards. Only thing that ticked me off was buying a 2007 box and getting a 2006 autograph...if I wanted a 2006 autograph then I would have bought a 2006 box. hate to sound ungrateful as at least I did pull an autograph but I can't help but express my displeasure with this bad decision from press pass. I would rate my box pulls a 4 out of 5 but rate give 2007 Press Pass a 3 out of 5 due to the autograph situation. Thanks les and kathy for pulling together to make this happen. I did get all my Harvick base and some of the blue.

It would be nice if they were not part of the Press Pass 07 Autos inserted in the product, but extras thrown in thru out the year to increase the odds of getting an auto. I know... I should know better..lol

Meant to post last night just got too late. Still putting the base sets together. Like them little sets better. I did 10 boxes so will just give basic run down.

2007 Press Pass
28 Packs per Hobby Box, 6 cards per pack = 168 Total cards due per box
Actual Pulls -
Lots of base cards (probably 7 or 8 sets & lots dupes)

Listed inserts and odds of pulling:

“00” card (1:???) - 4 cards pulled

Autographs (1:84) – 3 cards pulled
Kenseth (gone) Terry cook & 05 Harvick

Blue Foil ~ 120 card parallel set (1:1) - 1 full set, second set 7 cards short (gone) 39 duplicates

Burning Rubber - Gold & Silver Foils (1:112) – 2 silver Kenseth & Burton

Burning Rubber Sig Series (1:?) 1 kenseth 04/17 (sold)

Cup Chase ~ 18 card insert set (1:28) - 11 cards pulled

Platinum ~ 120 card parallel set (1:???) -
21 cards pulled

Race Day ~ 12 card insert set (1:6) -
3 sets - 9 dupes (listed on the bay already)

Santa Card (1:72) – 5cards pulled

Snap Shots ~ 36 card insert set (1: 2) -
3 sets - 32 dupes

Velocity ~ 9 card insert set (1:12)
1 set - 15 dupes (extras listed on the bay already)

One strange card ~ JG-C (but is an 07 card at least)
Maybe the variation for the cup chasers they mentioned? Or a retail card in my hobby box??? :confused0024:

To save my somewhat dissapointing pulls...
Four wide quad ~ Harvick 20/50
with 4 color firesuit patch :thumb:

3 boxes with basically nada and one with the 05 Harvick auto. I agree with what was said about the old autos being "extras" added to boxes but not count as your "goodie" as I refer to ru & autos. Thank you also for the post on why the old autos were in boxes at least. Pull odds were pretty close on all (but would of liked more :sign0020: ) so 3 3/4 of 5 stars for that. You do get alot of cards for your bucks but way to many base. And as Les and others have said, keep the Legends in the Legends! Please!

Cards were nice, new designs and new race day cards nice change. Nice thin cards but not to flimsy. 4 of 5 stars for designs.

Once again, many thanks to Les & Kathy for doing this case break for us! :thumb:

Most extras will be for sale and listed on the bay.

Well since I didn't get any memorabilia cards in my case break box and was loathing in my self pity, I decided to get a blaster box at Wal-Mart (4 packs for $9.99). I pulled a Tony Stewart Bronze (Team Series) Burning Rubber card in the 2nd pack (keeper). Then in the 4th pack, I pulled a Terry Cook '07 PP autograph. Two memorabilia cards in one 4-pack retail box...you gotta be kiddin'...that just made up for not getting any in the hobby box. :)

Here we go, I busted 3 boxes:

Box #1: (Ok box for me, Les picked this one for me to open)
Base: Short 5 cards for a set with no doubles
Blue: 28 different
Platinum: 1 Dale Jarrett - 1 Kevin Harvick
Snapshots: 14 Different
Race Day: 4 different
Velocity: 2 different
Cup Chase: Kyle Busch
Zero Card: 1
No Santa
No Autos
No Race Used

Box #2: (Loved this box)
Base: Short 6 cards for a set with no doubles
Blue: 28 different
Platinum: 1 Kyle Busch - 1 Kasey Kahne
Snapshots: 14 Different
Race Day: 5 different
Velocity: 2 different
Cup Chase: Matt Kenseth
Santa: 1
Autograph: 1 2006 Press Pass Autographs Denny Hamlin
No Zero
No Santa
No Race Used

Box #3: (Another great box, good trade pull on the JJ)
Base: Short 6 cards for a set with no doubles
Blue: 28 different
Platinum: 1 Carl Edwards - 1 David Green
Snapshots: 14 Different
Race Day: 4 different
Velocity: 3 different
Cup Chase: Carl Edwards
Zero Card: 1
Santa: 1
Race Used: 2007 Burning Rubber Driver Series Indy Win BRD16 Jimmie Johnson 13/75
No Autos

Over all I like the start to the season of cards. I always like the Cup Chase cards. Looks like I hit where I was supposed to and got a little more.

Race Used: I now like the Burning Rubber cards, the date and the look on the cards was a great idea and I like it!

Autos: The auto I pulled is from 2006 but I needed Denny, so it was great!
Cup Chase: I do still like the cup chase but I think the need to change the look some more. Great contest type card tho.

Race Day: I like it, something new and different to me.
Snapshots: I like the larger size card, I have said for years I hate smaller sized cards, great job.

Blue Foil: The blue foils are not all that to me, need more blue on the front. Should have done the 2007 PP logo in blue on these too.

Platinum: I do like having the serial number to 100 cards but same as the blue above, make the logo gold color too.

I do agree with all the stop with the Legends cards, that is why you have Legends.

I do not agree with all the talk about having the older autos as a random insert, put them in there. Better than not getting them at all. From what I understand on some of these is the drivers do not get them back to PP in time for the product they are suposed to be in. Not a problem with PP but the drivers. I like to pull stuff so put whatever you have sitting there in as a random grab!

Over all I like the 2007 Press Pass, looking forward to this season in cards forsure!
Product Rating from me: 4 out of 5 stars
Pull Rating based on my boxes: 4 out of 5 stars

I busted two of the 2007 Press Pass Retail Blaster boxes ($9.99). Did not hit much, couple of inserts and then the Gold Retail only cards. But I do have to say I like the Bonus cards in them. I picked up the Target versions and I like them. I did see the Walmart versions on ebay, I like the Target ones better but I am going to build both sets forsure. Good job on them, kinda gives me a reason to buy a couple of blasters and a nice $9.99 price on the box since there are only 4 packs in them....
Thanks,

Overall I was very please with my pulls. At least my Autographs were 2007!
I like the Race Day cards and I really like the Snap Shots being full size this year. Like the rest I think the legends cards belong in the Legends Set. Either put in Busch & Truck drivers or make in a 100 card set!

None of my boxes has any duplicate base cards - but every one was 4 to 6 cards short of completing a set. Would be real nice to at least get a base set out of each box.

I think I hit the "odds" on my pulls

I'll give 2007 Press Pass 4 out of 5 start

OK gang, got in the 2 boxes from Les, and seeing as my son figured out exactly what it was, (December and coming from Les) we opened both of our boxes. We didn't bother to keep them seperate so here is what we got:

Oh and I think Les actually sent me the box he was supposed to keep for himself:frusty:

Nothing for trade until I hear back on a couple of IOU's

The one weird thing about the box breaks, is in my sons box 1 pack contained these cards:

Snapshots #36
Platinum #P100 J. Gordon
Cup Chase #CC13 Kurt Busch
BRD5 Kevin Harvick
Blue Parallel #B12 Greg Biffle

Now as for my thoughts:

I like the look of the cards this year, nice set, with a few new drivers. I am one of the few, apparently, that doesn't mind seeing the Legends in the "base" set. I like the fact that there are some legends cards in a lower end set so everyone can enjoy seeing and reading some stuff on the legends drivers (Not everyone can afford $120. for a box, or $40+for a mini-box) as long as it is not every set. But that is just my opinion.

Snapshots, I like the full size cards this year.

Cup Chase, nice look with the track/grandstand

Race Day, Nice front design, could have improved the back (as I think Les pointed out)

Velocity, I like the look of these, really sharp.

Platinum, I like the no gloss look, too bad they had to use it on a numbered parallel.

Burning Rubber, Love the race-win concept, to have a piece of race-used rubber fromna race the pictured driver won is a fantastic idea

Autos, didn't get a 2007 auto, but am extremely happy with my Kasey Kahne from 2005 ( my first Kahne auto)

I will post what will be available after I take care of a couple of things. Thanks, again, Les and Kathy for another great case break

I'm posting a report on the screwed up box I got last week. The box is marked on the side "HOBBY 28 PACKS PER BOX". I got 28 packs but they were all marked "RETAIL 6 CARDS". The contents of the packs are as follows:

Base cards: 116 of 120 base cards. No duplicates.

Blue HOBBY parallels: NONE

Gold RETAIL parallels: 28. No duplicates.

Platinum HOBBY numbered parallels: 3. P3 #018/100 Kevin Harvick, P17 #065/100 Ryan Newman, P45 #063/100 Steve Wallace. Go figure why HOBBY Platinum parallels are in RETAIL packs that contained the GOLD RETAIL 1:1 parallels

Inserts:

Snap Shots: 13. No duplicates
Velocity: 2. No duplicates.
Race day: 4. No duplicates

Cup Chase: Carl Edwards

Autographs: None

Race Used: None

So at least the autographs and race used held true to form with the retail odds. What a mess. An email has been sent to Terri @ Press Pass concerning the collation. I will report her reply as soon as it is received.
