Love old school breaks, especially BAP. Good stuff. They always make me ask: "Whatever happened to that guy?"

WOW, great break. Got some good cards there. But you know every time I start looking at autographs, it makes me realize how much I prefer NASCAR (especially the older/veteran drivers). Man, if they didn't put the player s name on the cards I'd never be able to tell who it was:confused0024: , unless I could see the nameplate on their jersey:sign0020: . I mean just take alook at these 2 autos from 2 of the biggest names in NASCAR who get/got millions of auto requests every year:

Having said that, I see a lot of the younger NASCAR drivers are getting the same way, just goes to show a lot of the younger generation, just doesn't atke pride in what they do, or don't care about what the fans want. Just my opinions.

P.S. You know it is getting bad when the card companies can't even get the right facsimile autos on the right cards, yeah I'm talking about last years MVP where UD put Duncan Keiths auto on Dion Phaneufs cards.

That's old school for you. A lot of players from previous decades have really sweet signatures unlike the players of today. Sometimes the guys from Russia and republics of the former Soviet Union sign their names in their native language, which is why is looks illegible. The Keith/Phaneuf thing is a joke, their autos don't look anything alike. Another problem UD has with autos, more specifically stickers, is putting them on upside down.

Al,
Here a quick pic of some cards recent auto's. Now tell me if you cannot read those.

Of course the youngster on the bottom right compared to the other is new school. Go figure but yeah the old timer's autos are always better and you hear the same story after story from them. It just not that many youngsters truly care about it lol. Heck, you should look at how some of the superstars auto's have changed from good to bad as they keep shortening how much they scribble.

Yeah nice ones Don, exactly my point. The "old timers" were much more considerate about the fan, and proud of their status. So they took pride in everything right down to putting their name on a piece of cardboard, paper, magazine, whatever was asked of them to sign. Todays players, with a few exceptions, just don't seem to care.

The other point I was trying to make is that the two cards I showed are comparable to Gretzky and Lemieux in hockey as far as autograph requests go, but they never changed. Whether it was 5 or 6 special things, or 5 or 6 hundred cards for a card company or 5 or 6 thousand autographs on a race weekend, or Autograph session, they always signed the same way- no shortening of the sigs. Also, other than some "in person" autos (that may or may not have been signed by the person), I have never seen a "bad: signature from either. Just like the Oldtimers autos you have there.

I will end with that before I get into a big debate over today's players and their status/attitude.
