Well something is odd with the banner when I uploaded it let me see what I can do.

It looks like that because you saved it as a GIF. If you make something using photographs, or something that has a lot of shadows, you have to save it as a JPEG. If you do save something as a GIF you have to make sure it is optimized for the web and has enough colors and correct dithering.
