Hi gang, bought a box of the WAT from e-Bay. I hadn't done this set yet, so I figured I take a shot at it. First my thoughts:

Base cards: always a nice design, and good stock, but not too crazy about the Rookie Thunder autos as part of the set. It is hard enough to do sets with SP's but makes it even harder (and more expensive)to complete with the auto SP's as part of the set.

Inserts:
Grandstands: was never a fan of the smaller sized cards, but they are much better than the post marks.

American/Golden Idol: real flashy, nice that they didn't try a die-cut on the Goldens, i think that would have caused some chipping problems.

American Muscle: Stiil looking good. I have always like the acetate inserts.

Thunder Roads: Nice design, with the upper/lower pictures.

Race-used: Like the hat/shoe concept, but the swatches couild be just a bit larger.

Here's the box breakdown:

Base: 81/90 no dupes

Grandstand: 1:2 10

American Idol: 1:6 3 Martin, Gordon,T. Labonte
Golden Idol 1:? 1 Johnson 162/250

American Muscle 1:10 2 Burton, Stewart

autos and Memorabilia:

Rookie Thunder auto: 1 Clint Bowyer 154/350
Wheels auto: 1:20 1 Greg Biffle

Thunder Road (tire enhanced) 1:18 1 Burton

Double Hat 1:10(combined odds for all memorabilia)
1 Casey Mears black(with small piece of white)/black 46/99
Pushin Pedal Casey Mears black 40/199

so my overall rating 4.5 out of 5
