ok...I'm kind of mad....I never have really liked fleer but this bumped me over the edge. I recieved an envelope from them (one of the NPN ones) and opened it and got a letter saying that I recieved a GU NPN card so I said to myself "sweet". I check the envelope no card, I figured it just fell out but I was in an open space and it was NO WHERE! They forgot to send the card!!!!! I was kind of mad when I started to post this, but posting this has gotten me more mad! Just my little rant/rave.

Unsure why I got base cards, I guess the rookies are short prints? Hey no complaints

Well got the strangest NPN yet. I sent in a ton to Fleer - hey no limits, why not? Today I got a big envelope with the wrong address on it. I had sent in about 20 NPNs for Authentix NBA and today I got:

1. Ticket Studs Chris Webber - in a top loader
2. Steve Nash GU Jersey (ripped version)
3. Troy Bell Rookie 997/1250

Then inside a very heavy duty deck holder they sent 13 base cards. Most were commons but there was a Shaq, Jermaine O.
Vince Carter, Dirk and a Ray Allen - so not too bad for base cards. I just don't get why they sent them. There are no posted"odds" of getting a base card so I'm unsure why they felt they needed to send them. Maybe if you don't get an insert they at least want you to know they got it and send you something?
This also tells me Fleer is putting all my entries together to save on postage. That most be one heck of a job!

Ok this has me interested. I just got a UPS package from Fleer. It has an NPN in it but I've only received via mail from Fleer so now I'm wondering just what's inside...here goes...

Boo. I sent in one WWF just for kicks...somehow I won 6 base cards and three inserts. I sure hope they didn't send me this instead of sports cards...

These appear to be be women of wrestling, I know nothing about these but three are in toploaders so I'm guessing they are inserts. For anyone interested we have:

Then I got 6 base cards - better trade these out before my wife gets upset...just kidding...but if anyone is a collector....

I bet you got them instead of sports cards. I didn't send any to the WWE thing but sent some for Fleer Rookies and Greats. So far I have gotten two WWE's: a hugs and kisses Tory and a base card.

Fleer seems to do their NPNs totally randomly. They throw your entry into any of their drawings.

Seems like Topps is slowing down on the amount they send out...seems like we all used to get at least 50-75% returned back but now its a few here and there...got a few good ones yesterday though:

It does seem like getting Topps NPNs is a bit tougher but it may be because they used to allow 8 per product so I might have gotten 4-5 back, but when they limit it to one it's a 50/50 shot at getting anything. Remember Topps Gold Label used to have inserts in every pack so if you sent in a NPN you pretty much automatically got something back.

Got one today - not bad. Playoff Honors dual jersey Terence Newman / Marcus Trufant. I have to say, Playoff wins the award for good packaging. This is a $10 card and they packed it in a two piece case and added foam packing so it didn't move around. When you figure they could have just thrown it in an envelope it says good things for the company.

That's cool. It's a great card and they come up on Ebay a couple times a week. Congrats on a really good NPN. I am not a big fan of the NBA, but Peja and the Kings remind me of a really good old fashoned college team. Forget the chest/fist pumps and play hard and shoot well.

I had a sticker on my envelope that said "MS"... has anyone else had this sticker on theirs? I've gotten quite a few crappy Topps NPN's lately and this was my first good one and it was the first to have a sticker. Any meaning?

I've had that sticker on at least 3 or 4 of mine as well. Not sure what it means.

I know he hasn't played a down yet, but this is a very nice card for the cost of a stamp and this guess has a load of potential.

Hey guys i have a quick question here lol, i'll be mailing my first NPN's and i bought some 3x5 cards, but what exactly is a #10 envelope cause i went to the store and didn't see anything with #10 on it, you guys just sending them out on any envelope or does it have to be a #10?

Never Mind i found the answer on the other thread lol.

#10 is a standard business sized envelope. The companies state very clearly they will not accept entries that do not clearly follow the rules so stick by this one.

It is an envelope that would allow you to use a regular sheet of paper, fold it three times and insert it. The smaller size would require you to fold it again to fit in the envelope.

I've seen alot of Fleer and some Topps NPN successes, but hardly any Upper Deck. Anyone here ever have any luck with UD? They allow unlimited entries and no timline, strange that we don't see more postings here.

Only 2 I have heard of...both from UD Hardcourt basketball. I got a Lebron floor card BV $30, other guy got the Lebron floor card and a Peja auto commeratives. But I know I have sent in plenty though, they are tough. But if you get one, I would htink it's well worth it.

I was the other one. I got the Lebron floor card, T-Mac floor card, Peja auto, MJ insert and Blake RC all in one envelope. It's the only NPN I've received from UD so far.

It's always fun to post on this thread - it means I got something in the mail!

insert listed found inside, we do not send anything back. My advice to you

There was a question about ever receiving UD NPNs a few posts back. I don't think I ever bothered to post it, but I too received one. As I recall it was a Brian St. Pierre rookie patch (not game used) from UD patch collection.

As a side note, I hate UD patch collection. It makes searching Ebay a pain. I love collecting GU patches and have bid on and bought a ton of them on Ebay. But gone are the days I could just search for "patch" under cards. Now it pulls up this stuff and others that are not Game Used. I have to think someone in Upper Deck blew it, thinking everyone simply likes patches and don't care whether they are game used. I have to ask, what the heck are these "cards" for?

Not complaining about the NPN, anything free is good, this product though is not. Also thanks for posting the info from Upper Deck. I've still been sending out SP Game Used Patch and SP Authentic requests every other day. Looks like that is a waste of time since they have now been out too long to have any real chance.

Yeah i agree with you, it is a pain. I think they are no good whatsoever, and they almost destroy the reputation of "patch cards".

Hey. All I really know about this whole NPN thing is that it means No Purchase Neccesary. Could someone explain to me how to get the free cards through the entire process. I would be very thankful for the information because after all...ITS FREE CARDS! Hit me back. Thanks!

Snowman: Generally all the information is either on the NPN page on this site, or with any new packs you buy the NPN is on the back.

Why: Why do companies give away free cards? It would be great to thik it is just because they like us, but for the most part that is not it. Someone filed a lawsuit against Topps a few years ago saying Topps was holding an illegal lottery. They claimed that packs of cards were like game pieces and since states are the only "companies" other than casinos in some states, that can sell lotteries, they said by inserting rare cards the companies are illegal. Topps settled thier case and agreed to allow folks to participate for free - thus Topps became the first to offer NPNs. In the last few years the others have followed suit, but they never went to court and were told to do it, so they have made up their own rules - like Upper Deck that only allows you to "win" some of the inserts but not all, Fleer allows all inserts as does Topps.

Do I have to follow the rules?: Yes, if you do not follow all the rules exactly, they can and will disallow your entry. That means if they say it must be a #10 envelope - don't waste a stamp with any other size. They all say one entry per envelope. It appears they do not even open the envelope unless you are selected to get a card, so again putting more in would be a waste. You absolutely must hand-write your entry. For most that just means name and address, but look at Upper Deck, they also want a day phone, a night phone, an email and on some your age. Will they ever use that info? Likely not, it is just to make it a real pain to send to Upper Deck. Topps and Fleer are so much easier, most folks don't bother with UD.

How do I do it? Follow all rules. Do not send in more than the maximum, they will catch you and you will waste time and money.
What you do is get #10 envelopes (standard business size). Get yourself some 3x5 index cards (does not matter if they are lined). Put your name and address and if Upper Deck, perhaps any other info requested. Place it in the envelope with proper postage. No return postage or envelope needed or even wanted. If mailing to fleer, send as many as you feel like as often as you feel like it. If going to Upper Deck, I'd adise not to send two days in a row for the same product. The reason is they limit you to one postmarked envelope per day. If you put it in the mail one night and another the next day they could have the same postmark and Upper deck could disallow any and all entries (even future ones for that product). Playoff and Topps have stict limits and they do keep track of them even over time.

Can I send in more than one if I use different names? The rules state per person/address. Simply changing the name will disqualify you. Some ask can you send to your neighbor, your work, your school, your brother, mother , sister? I suppose you could, but is it compleley ethical? I will not judge, and yes you could do it, but no it is not ethical since it does say per person. But that is up to you. If they ever would find out somehow they could stop allowing your entries and most companies do limit the numbers of cards available for NPN, so if you cheat a little and jam the post office with requests for different addresses, you might be taking cards away from some who plays by the rules. Again, I am not judging anyone we all have to do what we personally believe is right.

How long to get cards? It depends. Fleer clearly lists dates. Playoff does too but Fleer gets the cards out within days of closing, Donruss takes longer and Upper Deck is too hard to judge. If you just want to see if it works, I'd suggest you send in a couple to Fleer on one closing in the next week to ten days, then give it a couple of weeks and see if you get anything. Sometimes you do sometimes you don't.

Hey BSTEE thanks for all of the info. I still have some questions though...sorry. It says on my pack "Drawings on or about August 25, 2004" Does that mean if I send it in I wont find out til then. Also it says "Only one card per envelope, mailed seperately, postmarked by August 11, 2004 and received by August 18,2004." Does that mean that I have to send in a card...I thought they were sending it to me. Last question is if I buy 2 packs do I get two entries. Please help me out and thanks for all of this priceless information!

Snowman: Yes, you will have to wait. Sometimes Fleer sends some out a bit early, but as a rule the draw date is the date and there should be no way you would receive anything prior to that.

By "card" they refer to the index card that you put your information on, you send them nothing else, just the index card (standard 3x5).

You don't need to buy ANY packs, that is where the name "no purchase" comes from. You could go in to a store with a piece of paper and write down the information and never buy a pack. You could look in the trash can at a shop and grab some wrappers with the info (sometimes they only put in on the boxes though), or better yet, you could use the NPN page on this website and get all the info. But sometimes that information is dated and there are lots of NPNs that are not shown. Maybe the best way is to go to a store and just buy one of anything you're interested in. Then use that info to send away.

I know the old saying, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Trust me on this one...do not make it any more complicated than it is...just fill out an index card, put it in a stamped #10 envelope and mail. Before you know it, they will start coming in.

As far as the lag time (waiting for August) just make it a habit. Send in say 3 a week. That will cost you about a buck. Mix up what you are requesting. When they start coming in you don't really have to wait any longer. What I mean is go ahead and send in for an August drawing...and September. Next month send in for September and October...in August send in for October and November. That way once August gets here you will have free cards. The same will go for September, October, ECT...

It depends on the item. Currently Fleer is unlimited. Bowman is a Topps item. One entry only. Just follow the rules - exactly.
