I'm a Nets fan, and I'm interested to know who you think would be a better matchup for them in the Finals - SA or DAL? Why?

Dallas because they're a fun and gun team like NJ is. The Spurs will force the Nets to play a 1/2 court game and we all know the Nets would get killed then. Also, NJ doesn't have anyone to matchup with Duncan... K-Mart will just end up in more foul trouble than he already gets himself into. I remember watching one Mavs vs NJ game this year when the final was like 133-130 or something crazy like that... that would be a fun series to watch.

P.S. - I moved this on over to the Por Sports Talk forum!

Dallas is the better matchup.

Nets don't have anyone to handle Tim Duncan, and the Spurs play much better defense.

Dallas is all about hitting their perimeter shots. If you clamp down on their shooters, you win.

Just ask the Lakers, who haven't lost to the Mavs at home in 10-12 years. As a matter of fact, the Lakers are something like 45-7 in the last decade vs. the Mavs.

All you need is defense and some offense, and you can beat the Mavs.

yeah but that is the problem it is not like most teams in the NBA, with dallas you need to clamp down on 4 shooters and here is a problem they can also go to the cup, think about it,how else could they shoot 50 FT's and hit 49 of them.

well, the Nets swept the Pistons 4-0. They now have a 10 game winning streak.

And they await the spurs.

As we've talked about earlier in another thread, while the Pistons have a great defense, they just don't have enough of an offense to keep up with NJ.

You can't just have defense and no offense, b/c a good offensive team will score 80-90 points a game.

And that's what the Nets basically did.

I know this is off topic, but the ravens did it.

Gioperation -- very good point. Yes, the Ravens, Bears and Bucs had TREMENDOUS defenses that ranked all time as the greatest of the defenses.

So, here's the question:was the Pistons defense of this year one of the greatest defenses ever in basketball?

My answer: this year's Pistons defense couldn't even hold Dennis Rodman's jock strap, much less compete with Rodman, Laimbeer, Isiah, and Joe Dumars.

The Pistons of 1989-1991 would not only have destroyed this teams defense, but Isiah would've gone for 30+ a game, and Dumars 25+ and Vinnie the Microwave Johnson would've had 15+.

The Pistons this year had great defense....but you don't seriously rank this defense up their with the greatest ever, do you?

Ben Wallace --- tremendous defense and deserved the honor.

But, Richard Hamilton, Chauncy Billups, Tayshuan, etc ---- these are good defensive players???
