I never really thought of this aspect of acquiring cards. Who collects for just trade bait? I really dont know what trade bait means either, if you get a box or two every now and then you'll pick up cards that people want, and you won't need to pick up other cards just for the sole sake of trading them to a particular collector, or a player that's popular to collect.

A good question to ask is...does trade bait include commons and semistars..and what about set builders? Player collectors? It could. What if I have a gold version of a Dino Raja from a set that no one cares about...I bet someone does.

Who likes to grip tight a common GU that you pulled out of the ONE box you bought within any 6month period 5 years ago?? I do and have a large majority of them still, and including one of many- a Grant Hill 96-97 SP Inside Info Gold from one and only box ever.

Who trades just to trade? Everyone has seen the Original Poster (OP) now and then state this...........

NEED to TRADE!!!!!!! Haven't traded in _______ time!

I personally only like certain cards, not all of them, not "hot" cards, but cards that either have potential, or hold their value....people like Favre, Jordan, larry legend just to name a few. I have a potential list, ranging from 3-8years in the league so far that are keepers, base and all.

Who needs to trade just to trade, not because you actually dig a card?

Trade bait is just stuff you acquire specifically with the intent to trade away for something you DO want. Think of it as a sort of three-way trade...I want a particular Winfield card, but the guy who has it only wants a specific Hanley Ramirez. So I trade with another guy who has the Hanley Ramirez and wants a pile of Rafael Belliard cards I have. Now I can trade that Ramirez for the Winfield I wanted.

Or, as you say, I could've simply bought the Ramirez card and traded it, but then I'd still be stuck with the pile of Rafael Belliard cards. It's a matter of making your vast, idle collection do some of the work without having to resort to cash.

But I agree with you, I don't get the need to trade just to keep the cards moving around. This ain't musical chairs.

I would be interested in just a trade man. I can trade base, Gu, or autos. Do you have a site or a list to look at buddy? LMK.

Thanks,
