View Full Version : 2003 NFL Predictions...
RaiderNation8180 05-22-2003, 09:46 AM I know the 2003 NFL season is still a few months off, but I wanna see what everybody thinks about the upcoming season. Considering all the free agent moves and that really strange 1st round of the draft, I'm kinda curious how things will shape up by January.
So, I am offering my predictions here for you to take a look at and I would like to hear your predictions in the same categories. Let's go!!
Please, no biased opinions. Just what you honestly believe could happen.
AFC East Champs: Buffalo
AFC West Champs: Oakland
AFC North Champs: Cleveland
AFC South Champs: Indianapolis
NFC East Champs: Philadelphia
NFC West Champs: San Francisco
NFC North Champs: Green Bay
NFC South Champs: Atlanta
AFC Playoff Teams: Oakland, Indy, Cleveland, Buffalo, Miami, San Diego
NFC Playoff Teams: SF, Philly, Atlanta, Green Bay, Tampa, St. Louis
AFC Champs: Buffalo over Oakland
NFC Champs: Atlanta over San Francisco
Super Bowl XXXVIII: Atlanta over Buffalo
NFL MVP: Donovan McNabb (Philly)
Offensive Rookie of the Year: Charles Rodgers (Detroit)
Defensive Rookie of the Year: Terrance Newman (Dallas)
Come-Back Player of the Year: Kurt Warner (St. Louis)
Most Improved Player: Joey Harrington (Detroit)
Coach of the Year: Gregg Williams (Buffalo)
Now...if I was a little more biased I would pick the Raiders over the Bucs 56-0 in Super Bowl XXXVIII. Oh well...
podstock 05-22-2003, 01:09 PM wow, nice picks.
HOWEVER, it's way too early to start predictions.
All of the following could happen before the pre-season even begins:
What if Brad Johnson and Derrick Brooks of Tampa Bay get hurt?
What if Donovan McNabb can't play?
What if Michael Vick is hurt?
Just look at Derrick Mason of TN Titans. ESPN reported that he broke his hand the other day while swinging a golf club.
It's too early to make predictions, even though football magazines have probably come out with theirs already
BGray 05-22-2003, 01:20 PM Well, The NFL is getting harder to predict every year. There really is a lot of parity which I like.
I think we're going to see the Raiders bring it back and the final rise of the Packers.
Superbowl Prediction:
Raiders v. Packers
Watch out for the Texans in '04!
BGray
pwaldo 05-22-2003, 01:30 PM A little eary to make my predictions but I really love your Bills picks. Except for them losing the Super Bowl. They don't need to lose another one. They need to win one.
mookigremlin 05-22-2003, 02:10 PM Wow RaiderNation8180, I was blown away at all of what you said above. hehe. I think of who is going to win the Super Bowl but not so much in depth like you have. Cudos to you. hehe. I personally would love to see the Patriots in the Bowl this year but I have a fealing that it won't happen. With so much going on it is to hard to tell on who is going to do what. With whatever happens I am just glad that they did not add the two extra teams to the playoff spots. :)

gioperation 05-22-2003, 02:20 PM see I think Indy hasa good chance to making it to the afc championship game, they have been very quiet in the off season, and beware of quiet teams.
RaiderNation8180....
i think your hopes for cleveland, are too high. i more than anyone would love to see the browns do well this year, but with the current releasings, and a grade C at best for this years draft, i just dont see them winning the division, or making the playoffs for that matter.
gioperation 05-22-2003, 03:06 PM yep and kobe was picked where in the draft, nobody gambled on amare until the 9 th pick and randy moss barely made it in the first round, yep don't bet the ranch on those drafts. I was just thinking brett favre used to be in atlanta, aaron brooks was a packer, brad johnson and kurt warner played in nfl europe and warner was cleaning off shelves at his local grocery store before somebody realized how far he would throw a sack of potatoes.
and last but not least the bears drafted cade mcnowm, I don't even care that they drafted him 1st, but drafted him period. over tim couch and mcnabb.
the chic that he and couch was fighting over probably is saying I picked this loser too.
RaiderNation8180 05-22-2003, 03:19 PM Wolf - I think Cleveland will be better than some people expect. I know the y didn't do too much in the offseason, but considering their division opponents, I think they have a shot. As long as they figure out who their QB is.
As for the predictions...it's just what I feel could happen. For all we know, we could end up seeing the Lions and the Bengals in the Super Bowl. That's how unpredictable the NFL is nowadays. But I still like to make my predictions though.
I like BGray's Super Bowl prediction. GO RAIDERS!!!
IggyWH 05-22-2003, 04:01 PM You think the Steelers are going to lose the division to cleveland? No chance of that happening in the next 2-3 years! Baltimore has a better chance than Cleveland because B-more is making a VERY quick comeback after it's selloff of players. If only Redman can stay healthy for a season.
podstock 05-22-2003, 07:30 PM Gioperation...I am a UCLA alumni, and I loved Cade McNown. Thought he could've been the second coming of Steve Young.
What was McNown's problem?
He was young, got rich, and had no desire. Now, he's struggling to try to make another team.
Will Lebron fall into the McNown trap? Remember, Lebron already made more money now than McNown did in his entire career.

One problem was that he played for the Bears.
Two was probably his attitude.
Third was that the guy couldn't handle the NFL.
wdwain 05-23-2003, 03:48 PM Tim Couch will pull through this QB situation and it will make him stronger than ever.
Couch is one of the hardest working QB's in the game and finally he has a decent team around him. They just drafted a monster Center who is lightning fast off the ball and these young receivers are growing up fast! Look for the Cardiac Kids to be in the hunt.
Carr to Johnson 05-27-2003, 09:31 AM in the AFC I like either Miami or Oakland
AFC notes-* no way Indy even makes the playoffs, cleveland looks week.....Steelers wouldnt surpise me if they come out with conf championship, Bills wont go anywhere either
NFC: Tampa bay or Eagles
Super Bowl: Eagles over Miami
stkmtimo 05-27-2003, 03:59 PM New York Giants win the Super Bowl. They have a great, young talented team.
Tim
IggyWH 05-27-2003, 05:20 PM Tim, they first need to quit getting that baby Shockey from crying and pouting on the sideline!
Kmench1 05-27-2003, 08:54 PM The Redskins should have been good last year...if their offensive line could keep the defense off the QB and Steve would stick with Ramsey the Redskins could make a run.
IggyWH 05-27-2003, 08:57 PM Kmench1, I'm sorry but the Redskins really aren't a good team. For the most part, they're an old overpaid bunch. Then they go and make the mistake of getting rid of the only guy who would do anything for them in Stephen Davis... VERY dumb move.
Why after they knew the season was doomed early didn't they just leave Ramsey in there? I mean, they still don't know if he can survive in the NFL so once again this year he'll take up a roster spot when if he played all year and failed, they could have given up on him at that point if they wanted to and brought in a new draft pick.
stkmtimo 05-27-2003, 09:03 PM I think Ramsey is their future quarterback. He's very versatile and athletic and I see him being their starter of the future.
Tim

IggyWH 05-30-2003, 01:18 AM No way will the Ravens win the divsion... they are still about a year away and no way the Bungles will finish ahead of the Brownies. It'll be a Steelers vs Brownies war this year for the division and depending on how healthy Bettis is this year and the rookies fill out the secondary, it might not even be a close division race.
radioheadfloyd 05-30-2003, 01:23 AM No love for the Bronocs?? Ok, so the defense needs some work... but expect to see them in the playoffs!!!
Kmench1 05-30-2003, 12:43 PM Iggy...I must disagree. I think the Redskins have a very talented team. Davis was a great RB and he will be missed...but I think that Betts will be better. He showed great ability in the games he played. Ramsey is also going to be a great QB. But I do agree that Ramsey should have played more of the season last year....we will see.

I too think the Redskins aren't going anywhere.
They lose Davis.
And add some good players. But their whole team is made up of good players. No really great player to make the team a playoff contender. They have a nice defense. But they play in a division where the Giants and Eagles should make the playoffs which means the Redskins won't.
famod 05-31-2003, 12:34 PM i dont think oakland will win its division this year. the team is just too old. also i hope kurt warner blows it, because he is way overrated

I never was a St Louis fan, but if they are healthy, they are a force that will have to be dealt with.
RedMania 05-31-2003, 01:39 PM i dont think oakland wins either, and also, please enlighten me on how cleveland will be fighting it out for the division. radiohead, to be honest, that division is the toughest to call. denver although i picked last, will still be at or around .500. not many divisions will be able to claim that for their last place team. i just dont think their offense will be improved at all with plummer there, and although their linebackers are solid, the defense does need improvement. I can see them winning that division if they get things together, its a very very tough call. If baltimore gets consistent offensive play from chris redman or whoever starts, they can win the division. they have the best special teams and defense in that division, maybe the AFC.
slugger21 05-31-2003, 02:01 PM My Superbowl predictions:
New York Giants vs Clevleand Browns
Call me crazy but just watch
huskies_23 05-31-2003, 09:11 PM I have Green Bay winning the Super Bowl!!!!
jonsportscardz 05-31-2003, 09:40 PM i think you all forgot...us whom live here in new england love our PATS...GO PATRIOTS GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE THIS YEAR AND GODBLESS CYA PATS PATS#1

KMench, I'm with ya man!
You are right about the O line. A lot of people don't realize how much difference a good O line makes. I think they are just as important as your set of skill players. Skins have some great young talent that should take them a long way. It was time for Davis to go and Betts will fill the shoes just fine. I really like the Ramsey to Gardner connection too. Besides the O line I think their biggest weakness is Spurrier's favoritism towards his past. He just can't let those Gators go. Can't knock it but his first pick in the draft just happened to be WR Taylor Jacobs from, yes, Florida.

Arastis 05-31-2003, 10:44 PM I think the falcons or raiders will win it all next season
RedMania 06-03-2003, 03:51 AM i just have this hunch with the chiefs
