Hmmm , i dont know if id call a press plate a Real 1 of 1 ... i know i dont consider it one ... i have Pulled a Pressplate before and it was of a preety high end rookie , dont recall exactly who , but I had it on Ebay ASAP and i Never sell my cards usually.

SO ive yet to pull a Real 1/1 ... maybe one day ... the search continues ...

i do have Real 1/1 cards though ... but i dont have any scans up :(

I'll try to get a picture of my Jimmy Howard press plate. I saw it month after month on the table at a card show where I used to live and ended up talking the guy down to get it for a steal. I actually forgot I had it until I just unpacked all the cards after my move and saw it in the pile. lol Pleasant surprise!

The Gomez should have a lot better patch as it's a 1 of 1. There's only one and thez put a almost one color patch.

I pulled this card last month or so. I think this card is extra special for two reasons: 1. it's red like the Red Wings jerseys, and 2. He retired in the off season and this plate is from the last season he played.

If you consider them 1/1's, then it's great that that works for you. In general though, the hobby as a whole does not see them as being 1/1's on par with the more traditonal 1/1 parallels. Not least of all, because there are always 4 of them.

Answer is: 1997-98 Pinnacle Press Plates 1/1. Clearly printed "1 of 1" on the back of the card, each printing color is unique. Pictures on Press Plates presents more differences than the 1/1 parallel gold cards (example made by ITG), or the Black parallel cards of UD, which have for most only a background color variation.

Cards like the 1997-98 Pinnacle Press Plates 1/1 are still selling for hundreds/thousands of dollar again in 2009. Upper Deck tried to capitalized on the 1997-98 Pinnacle Press Plates 1/1 innovation, but they never got the demand as Pinnacle got for them, and still get for them today. They are harder to find, most are in personal collections today. A lot of collectors simply don't like the Printing Plates of Upper Deck, because Upper deck released cards with higher demand and value, for the Pinnacle ones it is another story. I think a clarification about the Press Plates was required here for the newest collectors.

Maybe it's me, but printing 1/1 on a card doesn't necessarily make it a 1/1 :)

I love my Tretiak Gold Emblem "1/1", but I don't consider it a true 1/1 because there are 19 other silver versions that are identical. The fact it's a variation with only one copy produced does add sentimental and monetary value to the card but it still isn't one-of-a-kind. A "Property Of" or "Ultimate Shield" is a true 1/1, with no other variation or parallel out there :)

This one is Ken Dryden Cut auto, they only made one that year since the silver are said to not have been released and one more 1/1 the year after. These are the only 2 hockey card with auto on it in Beckett online and both are 1/1. Having only 2 auto total, this make this 1/1 a rare card since only two Ken Dryden auto exist. The other card as been said to be pulled at the Toronto card show this year when ITG released their Bleu Blanc Rouge set. Card might also have changed hand at the show and the ammount was said to be around 5000$. But it's all hear say...
