View Full Version : CW Sportscards Online Store
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 03:05 PM Hi all,
Please feel free to visit my new online store with 100+ factory sealed boxes and supplies at www.cwsportscards.com . I specialize in baseball boxes, basketball boxes, football boxes, golf boxes, singles, graded cards, and supplies. Even though my online store is fairly new I've been a full time dealer for 10 years. If you have any questions about a particular wax box product please let me know.
PayPal, Visa, MC, and Discover are accepted through my online store secure shopping cart. You can also mail a personal check, money order, or cashier's check or you can pay by Visa, MC, or Discover by phoning in your order.
If you see an item that isn't listed please let me know. I purchase approximately $50,000 in boxes/cases per month so if an item isn't listed there's a good chance I my have it in stock but just haven't added it to my online store. If I don't have an item in stock you are interested in I can almost always order it and have it within 3-5 business days. Quantity discounts on boxes and cases are available upon request. Please e-mail for a competitive price quote.
plunge 05-22-2003, 03:12 PM Welcome to the forum, CW. There are plenty of forum members who are interested in what you have. Good luck.
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 03:14 PM Thanks for welcoming me. I joined late last night and I'm definitely enjoying reading all the posts.
gioperation 05-22-2003, 03:44 PM wow so great prices too. and a nice guy
IggyWH 05-22-2003, 03:59 PM Question...
Are you going to pre-sell boxes of 2003 Topps Retired Baseball Signature Edition and if so, do you have a $ amount yet?
Thanks!
gioperation 05-22-2003, 04:01 PM damn I for got all about that box?
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 05:07 PM Yes, I don't have any presells on my website as of yet as I'm still in the process of adding all my inventory. My web designer basically took an 8 month "break" from finishing my website so I've decided just to try and finish it myself. Since my web design knowledge is limited it will take a while to add my entire inventory to my online store. I will have have several cases coming in when they go live. At this time I can presell them for $125 a box plus shipping. I charge $7.50 insured shipping for the first box and $2.50 insured shipping for each additional box on private sales. All orders are shipped via UPS as I have a UPS daily pickup account. If you require shipping via 2-3 day priority mail shipping may be slightly more. I can also sell 6 box cases for $715 plus $15 insured shipping for a total of $730. Please let me know if you're interested.
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 05:09 PM If you decide to purchase a 6 box case I require that you put $100 down towards the case at this time and the remaining balance is due 2 weeks before street release date.
gioperation 05-22-2003, 05:12 PM you can hire iggy to do that for you, the guy is a genius and will save you a bunch of time
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 05:22 PM I'm using Frontpage 2002 right now. I pretty much have everything set in place. The only part I have left to do is the busy work like scanning in a small, medium, and large picture of each box. Then there's also a paragragh which describes each product and gives the insert odds. then I have to go into the shopping cart sofware and put the weights of each product, price, quantity available, etc. Therefore, the easy part is done which is what the web designer did. The hard part is left which is actually adding all the images, descriptions, prices, etc.......mostly busy work. I do have a "specials" category that I would like to change to "supplies". However, my web designer designed the image map on the left hand side of my website that contains all the different categories of items I sell. He never gave me the that image map on the left hand side so I don't have a clue of how to do something simple (I assume) of just changing that category from specials to supplies. Hey Iggy, if you're out there do you have any clue how to change it? Any help would be greatly appreciate and rewarded.
Victory Sports 05-22-2003, 06:18 PM great site, welcome to the site as well!
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 06:23 PM Thanks. To be honest I'd have alot of changes made to it right now if I could. The whole "flow" of the site could be simplied. However, I really don't want to fork out a ton of money to have it totally redesigned. Therefore, I'll live with it for now. In the future I will probably have it professionally done. The guy who initially designed it was a customer of mine and I traded him about $300 worth of wax boxes for it. That seemed reasonable to me but since I'm not too knowledgeable in web design I have no idea what a site like mine would normally cost.
IggyWH 05-22-2003, 06:30 PM As far as changing it, are you talking about changing the image or changing the link from something like specials.htm to supplies.htm?
If it's a change of image you need, I can do it for you if you have a default blank picture or at the very least I can edit the one that is already there I just need to know font specifics.
As far as the box I'm not really interested. I sold some of my etopps to buy a box shipped from some website another member gave me for $109 but it's just a 5 pack box... damn pricey for 5 packs if you ask me!
IggyWH 05-22-2003, 06:34 PM A site like yours done professionally will run you probably about $1000+. Normally a personal website runs about $500+ but since yours is a business that's a completely different ballpark. About the only good thing about forking out a huge amount for a professionally done website is any changes you need done over the years they'll do for free.
You should have contacted me, I would have done that work for $300 worth of wax :) It was a nice deal but the only problem is, he could back out anytime he wanted to like he did.
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 06:37 PM Exactly!!! He got tired of working on the site and I was basically stuck trying to finish everything else myself. I actually have a couple small things I'd like to have added/changed. If I e-mailed you a list would you be willing to take a look at it? If we can agree upon a price I'll gladly pay in you in wax.
cwsportscards 05-22-2003, 06:38 PM Do you think the $300 in wax was a good deal by taking a quick look at my site? Or did I get screwed? In other words how much would you have been willing to do the same thing for if I payed in wax.
gioperation 05-22-2003, 06:40 PM IMO, that is a good question as I just had a lady start to set up our new website for my flower shop in exchange for some extra wedding flowers
IggyWH 05-22-2003, 06:41 PM I've never designed sites for others because although I have a good knowledge, I don't want them asking me to do something I don't know. It would make me look like a fool then and make them feel like they wasted their money. I definitely think $300 in wax was a nice deal though for what he did.
Sure, drop me an e-mail telling me what all you need changed. I hate when programmers do maps the shitty way like he did so it's hard for others to edit it but I finally found the actual image and I should be able to edit the specials to say supplies. I'd have to write a whole new map though if you want to add in new categories and that would be a pain.
gioperation 05-22-2003, 06:50 PM Iggy I think you are getting you degree in the wrong field>>>but you know why programmers do that you already said it, so they can be the only ones with it, or make it hard for someone to come in and just change it.
IggyWH 05-22-2003, 07:15 PM I know programming, but sadly it sucks! My play was to double major in computer science & business but I dropped out of CS because I just couldn't take it anymore. Who really wants to sit infront of a computer all day and type code?
BGray 05-22-2003, 07:21 PM Welcome to the forum cwsportscards! D
Although we've already talked via PM I just wanted to make it official!
BGray
cwsportscards 05-23-2003, 06:21 PM I have a UPS daily pickup account and shipping from me to you only takes 1 business day so you'll have your boxes 1 business day after I receive your payment. There's nothing like 24 hour express delivery at no extra shipping charge!!!
cwsportscards 05-23-2003, 06:28 PM Also, I just got done lowering the prices on about a dozen of the boxes I had up. And I have a decent amount of new inventory coming in as well the beginning of next week so I should have plenty to choose from. I also have about 30-35 2003 Sweet Spot Classics patches that I need to add to the singles area (including a Mickey Mantle 1960 World Series patch #113/150). If anyone is interested in a list of the patches I have please let me know and I will e-mail it to you. If I can sell a few privately that will save me time from having to ftp them to my online store. Scans are available upon request.
cwsportscards 05-23-2003, 06:53 PM yes
Qball76 05-23-2003, 07:07 PM Welcome to the forum CW hope you stick around...I took a look at your website and I was curious to know if you expected any graded football to be in anytime soon??? Thanks Q
cwsportscards 05-23-2003, 07:24 PM Being that the football season isn't in session right now I'm concentrating more on baseball at this time as that is what is selling best. I don't anticipate getting any new football products in till the season starts.
Qball76 05-24-2003, 11:02 AM CW I was wondering what kind of price you would be willing to give on a case or two of 2003 Bowman Chrome delivered???
cwsportscards 05-24-2003, 11:19 AM I can sell 6 box cases for $405 plus $15 insured shipping for a total of $420. $100 is required to hold the case and the remaining balance is due 1 week before street release date.
Qball76 05-24-2003, 11:23 AM That's just a little more than the current deal I can get could you come down on it anymore or is that as low as you can go??? If that's as low as you can go no problem, I'm just trying to get the best deal so I thought I would ask...When does that release is it June or July???
tonybones1974 05-24-2003, 03:25 PM i have bought a couple things from cw-
pulled some great cards for the packs/boxes, nice guy and fast shipping!
stkmtimo 05-24-2003, 03:39 PM That is definitely one of the best sites selling sports cards I have seen! Tons of great info!
Tim
cwsportscards 05-24-2003, 03:41 PM I'm actually in the process of having it redesigned so everything is more compact and easier to navigate through. Once that is done I'll be adding more items.
cwsportscards 05-24-2003, 03:44 PM Also, if I get a decent amount of business from member on this site then I will offer special coupon codes through my shopping cart sofware. That way all the members here can get reduced prices on all my boxes. Also, as sales pick up I'll be able to lower my prices even more due to the increase in sales volume. I'll make less per box put the volume will make up for it which is what I'm looking for.
