Today got legendary Chicago Bears player and coach Mike Ditka at a local liquor store grand opening in Lake Zurich, IL. Coach Ditka has affiliated himself with a wine company, and was signing bottles of his Kick *** Red, among other wines. He also sells cigars, a Bloody Mary mix, and a salsa! Anyway, bought two bottles of wine (a merlot and another red), he signed both bottles in a paint pen, and then had him sign the classic 8 x 10 of Ditka walking off of the field gesturing with his middle finger. He signed it Your #1, since he is holding 1 finger up in the photo. I now have 4 unopened bottles of wine, all signed by Mike Ditka, but I am not a drinker, so if anyone over 21 on this board would be interested, I have a few choices!

On Saturday, 05-Apr-08, the local Chicago suburban Meijer store celebrated Opening Day (a week late), and each of the stores had a former Cubs or White Sox player, unfortunately, all appearing at the same time in the different stores. I was able to make it to Bill Madlock in Rolling Meadows, IL, and got 6 cards signed, and then made it to another Meijer location in Algonquin, IL, where Dave Kingman was signing, and I got 6 cards autographed.

Today at the Joliet Jackhammers game, I got 4 cards signed by former major league pitcher for the Expos and Phillies and current Joliet pitching coach Floyd Youmans.

Also, got one 1968 World Series Special card signed by umpire Bill Haller (he was the ump when Northrup hit his grand slam in the 3rd inning of Game 6), as well as 2 bobbleheads signed by legendary umpire Bill Haller (it was Bill Haller bobblehead night).

I'll add on to this thread... on Wednesday I got a 1/24 diecast car signed by Kasey Kahne at a Jewel in Joliet. The NASCAR drivers are pretty good about signing... just gotta get there early!

Today got Chicago Cubs infielder Ryan Theriot, 1 8x10 signed, personalized, for free, at a AT&T Store grand opening, in Vernon Hills, IL.

Theriot would only sign 1 item per person, and it was mostly the store supplied 8x10, or your 8x10 if you asked really nicely, and he personalized everything. No bats, balls, cards, shirts, hats, etc.

There were over 300 people there for the 1 hour signing.
