Two of the four batters Dreifort walked eventually scored. That, combined with the way his teammates were playing behind him, left Dreifort to rely on strikeouts to escape trouble. He had seven strikeouts over the first two innings and four in the second inning as the result of a wild pitch, becoming only the third Dodger to fan four in an inning.
ooo, i c now ;)

He was the first pitcher ever to strikeout 7 batters in the first 2 innings.

Dodgers are looking like their 1988 counterparts -- who had TREMENDOUS pitching, and weak but timely and clutch hitting.
The 1988 team went on to win the World Series, with clutch homers like Mike Scioscia off Dwight Gooden in NLCS and of course, the famous Kirk Gibson homer off Eckersley.
We will see how this team plays as the season unravels. Right now, the pitching staff is #1 in MLB, while the offense ranks in the bottom
Eric Gagne --- 6 consecutive saves in 6 days. 12 consecutive strikeouts as outs. 18 for 18 in overall saves; and 24 of 24 dating back to last year.
He save 52 games for the Dodgers last year, a new record.
He's about to get a HUGE contract next year.

A batter struck out on a wild pitch and advanced to 1B. He gets credit for the K but not the out.
