Does anybody know if they have released preliminary results so far for the All Star Voting?

Last year they did it almost every week and I can't find it anywhere now.

Or do they do it later on?

I've been looking for it on sportsline.com myself; but haven't found any yet.

May be a tad early.

Been looking to see how the Angels are doing in the All Star balloting.

They've had tremendous home attendance marks, and that should give them a boost.

Garret Anderson, Tim Salmon, Troy Glaus, Troy Percival, Washburn, K-Rod ---- these are amongst the Angels that Mike Scioscia will be taking as it's Scioscia's turn to do a Joe Torre.

Yeah the Angels have been one of the best drawing teams so far. That should help them in the voting and rightfully so.

I agree...they deserve to get recognition as they all play with a lot of heart and they play for the right reasons, love of the game...not money.

LOL

Play for the love of the game.

I would believe it when somebody is playing for no money or the minimum but playing for $5 million dollars is not for the love of the game.

when you consider that A. Rod is making $25M per year, and in the last 3 years, Rangers have occupied last place

then any ballplayer playing for $5M a year, esp. from a winning ballclub, is playing for the love of the game. lolol

btw, is it just me, or are the ballplayers now throwing more balls into the stands?

That's one great way to keep fans going back. And it don't cost that much to give away balls, esp. when you make $100,000s per game.

podstock, the reason i say that is because there are only 2 NL 3rd baseman better. mike lowell and scott rolen. boone is a close 3rd to both of them, and because of the lack of players at that position, he will make it i think.

OF course they love the game...considering their team is making hundred's of millions off of them when they're making only a couple of million. Look at it from different standards, not the fact that there making millions and were making thousands. Look at it in the bigger picture, not just the caption.

Their teams salary is only fractions of what the Yankees make, but yet they beat them last year. Love of the game? Yes, I think it is.

Right.

So Jim Carrey acts for the love it and not because he gets $20 million dollars a movie.

Just because a team spends more money then you doesn't mean YOU PLAY for the love of it.

So by your reasoning. Kobe Bryant doesn't love basketball but everyone on the Clippers loves basketball to death.

well athletes get the ridicule more often than the hollywood actors who make so much. in all honesty, i believe some athletes do love it, but will take the money. as for jim carrey acting, well, i'd say an athlete who hits a 95 MPH pitch is more talented and deserving than an actor who gets filmed being funny.

Do you read???

I said if you used ILuvSportsCards analogy then that is what it would be.

I never said that I believed that.

pwaldo..yes, I read it, and I understood your implications.

My post was not to mock you. It was just to laugh at the fact that Kobe doesn't love basketball.

Kobe does love basketball A LOT and that is why I used to him to prove my point against ILuvSportsCards anology.

If I used someone else then it would not have had the same impact that Kobe did.

The current standings are on mlb.com....How is Giambi leading first base over Delgado and Raffy?

THANK YOU!!!

I've been waiting for the standings.

Giambi probably leading because he's in NY and Delgado should be leading but he plays in Toronto.

I know I'm a Yankees fan but I voted for Delgado over Giambi.

Not a problem.

Thats the thing...people usually vote for their favorite players...not who really deserves to be playing their. The all star game has turned into a complete joke.

You are correct.

People like Derek Jeter do not deserve to be going to the All Star game but people are still voting for him. I don't see how you could vote for anyone else at SS other than ARod.

Recently too many players just get into an All Star game because they are popular and not having a good season. People like Griffey were injured and couldn't play the season and people still voted him in back a couple of years ago.

But I guess the All Star game is just a game for "fun" so it really doesn't matter who plays and who doesn't.

Remember when Canseco missed almost the entire season, yet was among the top 3 in outfield votes, lololol

You've got to change the system to the NFL, where fans / coaches / and players all get a certain percentage of the votes.

No player should ever go to the all-star game when he misses a significant portion of the games playe --- that's freaking ludicrous when sh*t like Grant Hill are amongst the top vote-getters for the NBA all-star game.

Hell, you, I, and a monkey have done about the same in the NBA this season as Grant Hill

Good point.

I too would like to see a system similar to the NFL. It makes the all star award meaningful and not just a joke.

Wally Szerbiack (sic) of the Timberwolves exemplifies everything that is wrong with the NBA All-Star.

how the hell this dude ever got voted in baffles my mind.

When you've seen the previous playoff games, where he's TOTALLY disappeared, you wonder how the fark the Wolves owner just re-signed him to a new 6-yr, $60M contract.

My god!!

If the Joe Smith under-the-table deal wasn't bad enough, Glen Taylor then exacerbates it with a ludicrous contract for Wally.

Wally is just your average ballplayer. Leave him to set shoot, and he makes his shots; guard him up close and make him create his own shot, and he's useless.

In the last several years, he hasn't improved one bit on his game, and any Timberwolves fans can tell you that.

Man, a new 6-year $60M contract?!?!?

holy mackerel, batman!!

giambi, new york, big market, big name

delgado, toronto, canada, bad year last year, dumb fans

i like the fans having a say, but we dont necessarily have the most educated people voting. many kids get ballots, go through the positions and pick guys they know. 2 guys who will be voted high, griffey and jeter, yeah they had injuries, but they are BIG NAMES, thats it.
