Why would it be wise to dump Brian Giles???

He's one of the best players in baseball.

Yeah and they're not doing anything with him. His contract is up in 2005 so dumping him now, people will be more willing to give up more for him.

Pirates will never get anyone to take kendall's contract and Littlefield will never trade giles.

They've had MANY offers for Kendall before, he just wasn't willing to waive his no trade clause. With the Pirates showing little imrpovement again and last year talking about wanting to be traded, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't go this year. Littlefield shopped the hell out of Giles last year but shopped too late and couldn't get anything worthy enough of a trade so don't think trading Giles isn't in the cards.

I think that without a doubt it will be the Mets. They have to bail now with that inflated payroll. It's pretty obvious they aren't gonna win it all.

All the offers the Pirates ever get for Kendall are for Players like Denny Neagle and Kendall is a much better player than Neagle. Also, Littlefield wants 2-3 young players who are ready to play in the majors now, but he won't get that because he is vey underated.

They get plenty of offers for Kendall, but like I said, Kendall won't remove his no-trade clause. He doesn't want to be traded away for a bunch of prospects.

I agree with BGray. The Mets have to start dumping and eat their losses beginning with Mo Vaughn and then Roberto Alomar and then take your pick.

Mo Vaughn is a coward -- he taunted the Angels after leaving the team, saying they hadn't won anything.

Now the Angels won the title, and you know where he's going to be when the MEts visit the Angels later this year?

He'll be at home, recuperating on his knee.

If he had some testicular fortitude, he'd make the trip to Anaheim and live up to eat his words

Look for the Mets to have a fire sale... definitely. You can also expect a few big moves from the Yanks, the Phillies, the Braves, the Diamonbacks, and possibly the Giants, amongst many others.

The Yanks are starting to look kinda week... the Phillies & Braves are cut throat for the playoffs this year... and the Giants and Diamondbacks will likely need to make several mid season moves to maintain their levels.

Also possibly the White Sox. They've stunk lately and could use some shaking up.

The Mets really disappointed me. Trade Piazza away and bring up the youngsters. They ahve some great youngin's on that team and they can really help them and save them some money.

I live near Pttsburgh and I know Littlefield would not drop Giles, Kendall, or Lofton. The Buccos have a good ball team and they are going to come out soon. Ramirez is playing back to form, Lofton and Kendall are playing well as is Giles. I'm not saying they should keep these guys to contend this year, but the attendence is low enough and Giles means a lot to Pittsburgh and if he is dropped, attendence and support will be too.

Without those players you could not name anybody on the Pirates.

I say they should keep all of those players and go after another hitter and pitcher. Then next year they'd be able to compete.
