This group break will be conducted using a draft. That means, once we get five people wanting to be on this break, I will enter all names into a randomizer and it will pick the draft order. First name gets the first set of picks, second name gets the second set of picks, and so forth...
Once the list is created, members can then trade their spot to another member over the next 24 hours. After that time has passed, all members are locked into their pick position. Once you post interest in the break, you cannot back out because you are not happy with the pick you end up.
Once the picks are locked, I will proceed with the break. Hopefully, I can do it via video break. I will post the break here, along with scans if necessary.
To get in on this group break, you just need to reply to this thread stating that you are in. Remember, only the first five getting in can participate.
Good luck and if this works out, I'll look to see if we can do more in the future.

CHillyDoggy 05-08-2008, 01:18 AM I'm in, LMK if we get enough participants.
#15Vince Carter 05-08-2008, 01:36 PM Does the money have to be sent by paypal or can I dend a money order? plmk
RenegadeLonghorn 05-08-2008, 01:40 PM I like this idea and considering joining. Couple of questions though.
Once we're locked into our pick position, can we trade picks? For example, I am locked into the #3 spot. I wanted to trade pick 18 for 24 and 29 and the other party agrees. I would still be paying for the #3 spot.
Also, if that was to be allowed, we lock into our positions first. Then the break is done. Can we trade picks (but not positions) after the break is done?
I guess i'm thinking from a draft perspective....you see available players, and want to trade up or trade down for those players. We could do the same with cards.
Enigma 05-08-2008, 03:12 PM I accept all forms of payment, so a m.o. is fine...
Once I do the random draw for positions, you have 24 hours to trade monetary spots. In other words, if you end up with the $20 spot and want to move up to higher dollar group of picks, then you have 24 hours to agree to the trade. After 24 hours or after everyone is content with where they are, the positions lock and payment is expected. Once I receive all payments, I bust the box. After receiving payment, the picks are yours to do with as you wish as you purchased them.
#15Vince Carter 05-08-2008, 05:34 PM Got another question, you say certain person gets certain picks but how does it determine what teams goes to who? How does that work? plmk
Enigma 05-08-2008, 07:40 PM This is not a team draft...basically, I bust the box and then whoever has Pick #1 gets their choice of any card from the break, then Pick 2 goes and so forth until all cards are claimed. Basically, you are paying to put your own pack together from one box.
CHillyDoggy 05-08-2008, 08:02 PM I'll take #1 if we get enough...
Craig
Enigma 05-08-2008, 08:18 PM Craig...it's a random draw...you can trade once the list is created...
CHillyDoggy 05-08-2008, 08:40 PM Ha... wait, now I'm confused... what was this part of your listing about?
Pick 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, 26 - $80
Pick 2, 7, 12, 17, 22, 27 - $65
Pick 3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28 - $50
Pick 4, 9, 14, 19, 24, 29 - $35
Pick 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 - $20
I thought you had decided to do it differently when I saw this. So, we all pay for a pack and then there is a draw to decide who goes first? Then we can trade around if we want? Either way, I'm in, just got confused.
RenegadeLonghorn 05-08-2008, 09:49 PM Think of it like a fantasy draft. We have five participants. Tony will determine our draft position (1-5) randomly. So if you ended up with the #1 position, your picks would be 1, 6, 11, 16, 21, and 26. Once you're locked into that position you can trade your picks but you have to pay the $$$ amont that your position cost. I do not believe we're paying for or picking packs, only picking the cards that come from the packs.
Tony, correct me if I'm wrong!
trofie1 05-11-2008, 06:17 PM lmk. If you can get people.
Enigma 05-12-2008, 01:37 PM Yes...Ash is correct...

#15Vince Carter 05-25-2008, 06:31 PM Count me in. I can send the money via MO the friday after next. lmk if thats ok thanks
Enigma 05-25-2008, 10:44 PM That's fine...just need two more...
CHillyDoggy 05-25-2008, 11:27 PM Oooh, we might actually get enough people? :) Looking forward to it
Enigma 05-26-2008, 11:30 AM Just as a heads up...prices for all groups of picks may be going down...I have to confirm a price drop tomorrow with the distributor...
CHillyDoggy 05-26-2008, 11:36 AM Even better! :)
RenegadeLonghorn 05-26-2008, 11:48 PM Depending on the new prices, I may jump in on this.
Care4Card 05-27-2008, 10:12 AM Hey, count me in, sounds like fun!
Enigma 05-27-2008, 10:19 AM That makes four...Ash, you might want to get in before someone else does...
Enigma 05-27-2008, 10:22 AM Price has been lowered to reflect drop in price from distro...
Enigma 05-29-2008, 10:16 AM One spot remaining...box is in hand...
abcdefg 05-29-2008, 11:41 PM You guys probably want this to happen...I'll close it out by taking the spot.
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 12:00 AM Atta Boy abcdefg! Let's do this! ;)
trevorp121 05-30-2008, 01:23 AM You guys probably want this to happen...I'll close it out by taking the spot.
Yeah I was going to do it, but I just didnt want to have to wait a week for it to be broken. Anyways good luck to everyone,
Trevor
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 01:31 AM So, whats next? Randomizer, so we'll know how much we are paying?
RenegadeLonghorn 05-30-2008, 02:00 AM As much as I wanted to, I couldn't jump into these because of my recent ebay expenditures. Perhaps another box in the future! Good luck guys.
Enigma 05-30-2008, 09:23 AM Wait another week Trevor? The box is in hand... :)
Here's the random order:
CHillyDoggy
#15Vince Carter
mist3rC
abcdefg
Care4Card
I will go ahead and break the box today and upload the video to my comp to save some time. You have 24 hours to try to trade up or down if you wish. If you are happy with where you are at, PLMK and I'll payment info...
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 09:39 AM NICE!
I'd consider trading down but if I did, there would be a big auto in there. If I stay, there will be a Adam Haluska & Wilson Chandler - No offense to them, Ha! It's a conundrum for sure. I'm staying though. :)
Enigma 05-30-2008, 09:43 AM Yeah, I figure with the small price break between sets of picks, there probably won't be any movement...but you never know...
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 09:47 AM I just sent payment for my pick. Also, I'm playing golf in the morning but should be home by 2 pm eastern if you want to draft then or I'll be home tonight also if everyone was ready to start... or anything like that. Thanks!
Enigma 05-30-2008, 09:49 AM It will depend on how fast the spots get solidified. I have a card show tomorrow and Sunday, so if the spots don't get finalized today, I won't be able to post the video until Monday.
trevorp121 05-30-2008, 11:07 AM Wait another week Trevor? The box is in hand... :)
I just saw that someone couldnt pay until next friday, so I thought you would to wait until after you recieved payment to bust it. Oh well maybe next time. lol
Enigma 05-30-2008, 11:56 AM The box is busted...because of a particular card, there's only 28 cards total. You'll see what I mean when you view the video...
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 01:11 PM Awww... that ain't right! :) Building anticipation like that, ha!
#15Vince Carter 05-30-2008, 07:26 PM Does that mean I get the second card in each pack or what? plmk thanks
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 08:14 PM #15VC: Nope, you get the 2nd choice of all the cards in all the packs, then these picks in a "draft" type thing.... Picks: 2, 7, 12, 17, 22 & 27
Enigma 05-30-2008, 08:29 PM Craig is correct...once the results are posted, it becomes a draft of all the cards from the break. Think of it like the NBA draft. You have the 2nd overall pick and then your next selection is the 7th pick.
Enigma 05-30-2008, 08:30 PM Craig is correct...once the results are posted, it becomes a draft of all the cards from the break. Think of it like the NBA draft. You have the 2nd overall pick and then your next selection is the 7th pick.
Enigma 05-30-2008, 09:09 PM I am going ahead and uploading the video to YouTube now as we have had three payments made...
CHillyDoggy 05-30-2008, 09:15 PM Ooooh.... can't wait to get the link. :)
Enigma 05-30-2008, 09:16 PM It'll probably be at least another hour...lol
RenegadeLonghorn 05-30-2008, 09:17 PM I can't wait to see the results. I'm sure I missed out on some goodies!
CHillyDoggy 05-31-2008, 12:07 AM Is it up yet? ;) I dug around on youtube but never found it. ha!
Enigma 05-31-2008, 12:08 AM It's still uploading for some reason...
CHillyDoggy 05-31-2008, 12:12 AM Argh! ;) Alright, will check tomorrow at 6:30! When I get up to leave to go play golf! Ugh, Thats much earlier than I'm used to playing! ;)
abcdefg 05-31-2008, 10:46 AM Pretty rough break...But it looks like everyone will get one solid card.
Care4Card 05-31-2008, 01:15 PM So, no trading up I guess?
Damn, I'll pay today for my fifth spot...tell me enigma there will be something good left :)
CHillyDoggy 05-31-2008, 01:26 PM Is the link up?
abcdefg 05-31-2008, 02:00 PM If you go to youtube, and search for cardsbythebox, you can go to his page. I found the video there.
CHillyDoggy 05-31-2008, 02:15 PM found it, thanks
Care4Card 06-02-2008, 10:04 AM Seriously, I want more group break like this...maybe with SPx or SP GU ?
It's really cool to do...
CHillyDoggy 06-02-2008, 10:18 AM Yeah, I enjoy it too. This one didn't yield a ton of great cards but I bet we'd hit one of these times. I think Ultimate would be a good 4 person break.
Care4Card 06-02-2008, 10:22 AM Yeah, Ultimate could be fun
Or Black seems like fun too.
Or, over the top, we could try a full case hit of a smaller venue like Topps Chrome or something...bulking the base cards in lots and drafting the hits between us.
CHillyDoggy 06-02-2008, 11:31 AM It's the draft thats fun for me, ha! I really enjoy this, fantasy drafts, all that sort of stuff, ha. Well, getting good cards is good too. ;) Kinda interested to see how the new Topps Letterman or whatever it's called turns out too. Might be a candidate for a group break!
Enigma 06-02-2008, 12:43 PM I'll do some digging and see what kind of deals I can find for another group break...
Care4Card 06-02-2008, 12:44 PM Thanks, you're the man :)
#15Vince Carter 06-02-2008, 06:28 PM I agree. I would love to do this again.
